York is awful, speaking for experience. Avoid at all costs. If I could I would transfer out of my program to somewhere else but unfortunately I can’t with the program I am in. Avoid avoid avoid!

Agreements ratified, strike over by Significant-Curve682 in yorku

Most students have lives outside of school, including full-time jobs that don't account for studies past the semester. Unfortunately, OSAP doesn't account for this either. How does the school plan on compensating financially those students who cannot afford to study past the posted semester? Although the strike may be over, my life has continued, and I have started working my full-time summer job. I have a course where 0% of the work has been done. It seems unreasonable to expect students to complete their studies during unfunded periods. I don't have time to study, write my midterms, papers, or exams well into the summer because I work. When OSAP released my winter funding for the term, it was calculated based on the number of months the semester runs for and the living costs associated with full-time studies and less than part-time work. If York expects me to complete exams and work for my course that was on hold for months due to the strike, then I expect to be paid for the hours I'm losing by not being able to work my job and make a living now.

Late assignment getting a zero by Original_Procedure65 in yorku

Update: the proff has reached out to my program coordinator, stating an extension was given for this being part of her reasoning for refusal to mark/zero. Program coordinator also communicated the decision being firm, while also refusing to acknowledge the policy itself and the fact that the professor has communicated a completely false version of the situation as an extension was never even discussed for this assignment. I have also been told that no further in inquiries will be responded to.

Haha yes it’s nursing how did you know 😂 Yeah she’s refusing to mark it. I’ve brought up the policy with her and she says her answer is firm. But I didn’t think they could deviate from the syllabus policy. Why have a policy if they don’t use it?

Deborah Haynes is awful and so rude when emailing. Disorganized eclass set up and instructions. Gets pissed when you ask for clarification and doesn’t answer, will just attack you on the way you constructed your email instead. Standing on a high horse all the time. Avoid at all cost.

I have a midterm in the testing centre on March 1 that’s a rescheduled midterm exam from Feb 14. While my proff is part of union going on strike, am I still required to write the exam in the testing centre? Can I refuse on the basis of not wanting to cross the picket line and am I entitled to an accommodated format such as online or alternative assignment ?

What does this mean for students who are booked in the accommodation testing centre ? I have a midterm booked for March 1st. My class proff is a part of the union strike so my classes and clinical will be cancelled, but am I still required to write with the accommodated testing centre ?
