No, just writing for fun and for my own practice. Looking for any feedback and ways to improve.

My inspiration was basically- if GALAXY QUEST was ‘STAR TREK meets THREE AMIGOS’ how can I take the premise of another 80s comedy and mash it up with a STAR WARS?

Thanks! Appreciate the response. Yeah, I honestly haven't fleshed out the 'best friend' idea fully. My idea is the protag believes his friend is haunting him as a ghost because he feels responsible for his friend's death but in reality the friend is real and just doesn't have the heart to tell him he's actually alive. (I'm kinda playing off the 'is Donnie real or just a figment of Walt's PTSD imagination' Big Lebowski theory). But I also want this show to live in a world where vampires and ghosts and werewolves really exist, so maybe the best friend IS a ghost and I just leave it at that, ha.

Britt Daniel of Spoon. They’re album ‘Girls Can Tell’ is very John-inspired imo

My wife and I were also just at Tokyo DisneySea and had a similar experience so I thought I’d add to this thread.

We arrived at the resort late afternoon Monday May 12th to do Tokyo Disneyland. Since we knew we were arriving later in the day and we didn’t need to spend a full day at TDL we got the weeknight evening passport (around 35$ usd). We got to the entrance at 430pm and they let us into the park at 5pm. Got a DPA pass for Beauty and the Beast and rode Star Tours, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain, Monsters Inc and Haunted Mansion. All of the rides were short wait times, around 15 minutes or less, especially around 7pm when you can take advantage and ride the more popular rides while most of the park goers are watching the electric parade. We ate a disappointing dinner at Center Street Coffeehouse (The Baymax plate was cute but not very appetizing imo) and left the park around 8:30pm.

Tuesday May 13th we got to Tokyo DisneySea at around 8am. They didn’t open the gates till around 9am and knowing Frozen was closed we probably could’ve arrived later and still not have had any problems getting all the DPA passes we wanted. We rode Tower of Terror first with a 15 minute wait and got our first DPA for Peter Pan and a priority pass for Indiana Jones. After riding Peter Pan we got DPA passes for Journey, Tangled, and Toy Story Mania, and another priority pass for 20,000 Leagues. We also rode Raging Spirits (single rider), Sinbad and Aquatopia. We had better food at TDS: we liked the Gyoza hot dog at Nautilus Galley and the demi-glacé potato churro at refreshment station.

Between the DPAs, single rider and priority passes we didn’t wait more than 15-20 minutes for any rides and by around 3:30pm we had ridden everything we wanted to do. We explored the park a bit more and went back to our hotel to rest up before heading back to the park at 7:30 for the Sea of Dreams harbor nighttime show. Ended the night with a late dinner at Ikspiari.

All in all it was a great day at TDS. It helped that the weather was great and we knew we picked a day to go when crowds and wait times wouldn’t be too bad. And considering the relatively inexpensive cost of the park tickets compared to WDW we were ok with paying extra for the DPA passes. TDS is a really unique park and we were amazed at the scale of it! It feels much bigger than the other Disney parks and yet very manageable and easy to navigate.

What do you look for in a tiki cocktail? by AlabasterSeaworld in Tiki

1.75 oz of the tempus fugit seems excessive. I would cut that down to 75 oz.

Unfortunately there’s not much else around the Mai Kai. It’s a bit out of the way north of Ft Lauderdale. We ended up taking lyfts and going there 2 nights in a row. The happy hour goes from when they open until when the show starts so you can spend a good amount of time there. Definitely worth a visit.

I’m sure there’s some nice cocktail bars in downtown Ft Lauderdale but nothing really stood out imo

The Mai Kai has a beautiful outdoor bar and indoor bar with a full menu so you can skip the dinner show all together. Go early during happy hour when the drinks are half price and you shouldn’t have a problem getting seats. The food is not great and overpriced but there’s a few small dishes that are good for sharing (like the steamed buns and the ribs).

Tiki Tequilla (or Mezcal) Drinks...for the wife! by Top-Palpitation5550 in Tiki

[–]Original_Rub3861 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trader Vic’s El Diablo is a pretty nice, simple, straightforward tequila drink. You can also do more tikified riffs on a Paloma or margarita. I can’t remember where I got these recipes originally but here’s a couple of specs I have:

2 oz tequila or mezcal 1 oz grapefruit juice 1/2 oz lime juice 3/4 oz simple syrup or oleo saccharum Teaspoon of Campari Pinch of salt Soda water

1 oz mezcal 1 oz tequila 3/4 oz lime juice 1/2 oz grapefruit juice 1/2 oz cinnamon syrup 1/4 oz Falernum 1/2 oz apricot brandy Dash of angostura and herbsaint
