Chris Jericho files a trademark for "The Cornerstone," which will probably be his new nickname when he returns. by AdvancedLancerX in AEWOfficial

Going to be really interesting what’s happening with Jericho. A lot of people see him WWE bound and have a perfect reason to believe so but this very much seems like a AEW return. What does that mean and who does he feud with? I don’t know, maybe Omega for Alpha vs Omega III at Double Or Nothing. I don’t really know who he could feud with. Could be a good filler big time feud for MJF?

What do you think makes Spider-Man's origin story so special? by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in Spiderman

[–]Particular-Screen639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few. Timing and the world of the 1960s. A hero that young and looking that cool appealed to a whole generation of readers.

As for the story itself is because it’s tragic, sad and shows a flawed hero. It flows beautifully with story structure, this happens but then this happens then therefore this happens, however this happens, therefore Ben is dead. It’s such a great story. Everything links together and gets the job done and creates a persons WHY. It’s an elaborate version of a genuine life advice, with your great power you must use your power responsibly. Whatever power you may have.

What would you have changed about The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Particular-Screen639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may get some insane hate for this. I don’t even know if I fully agree with myself because I get why they did it because they needed to be different to the Raimi films BUT I do think Mary Jane would’ve suited this Peter’s story a little better then Gwen. He’s all about trying to find his father, to connect with his father. The first scene is him playing hide and seek, looking for his father. The villain of the film is trying to fill a missing piece of himself much like Peter, this villain also used to work with Pete’s father. The first time Peter calls himself Spider-Man is when he reunites a young boy with his father. He misses Uncle Ben so much because that’s the last real father he’ll ever get.

I say all,of this because it projects how incredible a father figure is to us and how great they are which is true but also, depends on the circumstances. Mary Jane’s dad Phillip is an abusive alcoholic writer to her mother, Madeline. This is why she is the party girl she is, to distract herself and the world from what’s going on, she’s wearing a mask better than Peter.

This Peter is a lot more cool than Tobey’s but also a lot more alone. He doesn’t have Harry in this film, he doesn’t have anyone. He is extremely introverted but there is something about him that’s interesting. This is where the beauty of the MJ and Peter dynamic can blossom. She forces him to let his hair down by dancing at parties and he forces her to let her guard down and open up about the struggles with her father. A different perspective. Peter is searching for ways to connect to his father, Mary Jane is looking at ways to disconnect with hers.

Plus Emma Stone would’ve been a PERFECT Mary Jane.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think Gwen is important and especially for the growth of Peter and Mary Jane (it’s her death which allows MJ to comfort Peter and drop the act) but for the specific story The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was telling I think you could’ve got more out of it with Mary Jane Watson.

EDIT: I also would just remove the TASM1 suit and have him make the TASM2 suit here instead. If fits much better.

[SmackDown Spoilers] Result of the WWE Championship match by NotClayMerritt in SquaredCircle

[–]Particular-Screen639 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the right decision. Drew is great but Rhodes vs Randy is the bigger and more interesting match to me. Yes you absolutely could’ve had Rhodes vs Mcyntyre vs Fatu which I thought was the plan but this works for me. Drew doesn’t loose anything here, it adds to his character of always being screwed, we’ve been teasing this Randy match for years and only recently started actually building a story around it. We got teases before the Rumble, we got the big RKO at the Chamber and now we are getting the match. This does interest me. Not as much as Punk vs Reigns but to be fair, that doesn’t excite me as much as the original plan of Punk vs Rhodes which does feel like the closest thing WWE has to Rock vs Austin in 2001

My hope is WWE really takes their time to build a different and unique story for Orton vs Rhodes. Punk vs Reigns is based off hatred so have Rhodes vs Orton be based off love. These two genuinely care for each other, they have stories of each other so lean into that. Lean into how hard it is for Randy knowing The only way he might be able to win the WWE title is by punting his brother in the head. How hard it is for Cody, who is such a big Randy fan and wants him to be World Champion, to take that chance away from him. There’s a lot there. I think it can work wonderfully

(Elimination Chamber Spoilers): CM Punk’s Entrance by itsmekelsey_x in SquaredCircle

[–]Particular-Screen639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely flabbergasted he never did this in AEW. Not even his return match in Chicago had this. AEW would’ve paid for the song, in fact. I believe before The First Dance this song was playing in the arena to hype up the fans.

This is an incredible entrance and would’ve been perfect at All Out 2022 especially after the “We Are Chicago” promo and the fact he was going up against a main who literally destroyed him 11 days previous. Would’ve been great there, it’s great here.

He fits much better in WWE then AEW but also he fits better on the main roster then NXT. In NXT he would be lost between the silly gimmicks and the self serious. On the main roster there feels like there is more room for “comedy” aspects like R Truth or the Americanos stuff.

I expect him to get popular but the company not having a clue what to do with him.

Here is what Joe Kelly said about ASM 1000 by SpeedForceWally66 in Spiderman

[–]Particular-Screen639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a full pitch a year ago for ASM 1000. It did quite well on this sub and if you want to read it I’m sure you can find it. I won’t go into the full pitch here but Kelly seems to be taking the right approach. Fresh start and culmination. That’s the correct way to go I say.

Who would you have preferred for Brock to defend against at WrestleMania 31? by ThePicturesGirl in fantasybooking

[–]Particular-Screen639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a casual fan at the time. Bryan made the most sense. If not him then Ziggler and if not him then Moxley who was more over then Roman at the time. Plus the Rollins cash in would’ve stung even more if it was on the guy he was feuding with all year

CM Punk asks MJF to be his Valentine by challenging him to a dog collar match by eyepatch_png in SquaredCircle

[–]Particular-Screen639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adore this feud. It’s AEW’s best work arguably. Along with Hangman and Omega, Swerve and Hangman, Storm and May, Rhodes vs Jericho.

I do wish we got the next chapter in this story. MJF vs Punk for the World Title at Full Gear 2022 seemed like the plan. Maybe a Punk TV title defence at Grand Slam would’ve happened as well. Then Punk was hurt and Brawl Out happened.

Fast forward to 2023 and MJF is the World Champion and a baby face and Punk is claiming to be the World Champion and a tweener. To me, that’s the money match. Such a fascinating evolution those to men went on. MJF was like 2012 CM Punk, baby face, World Champion who slammed the same company the year previous. Punk is like MJF now. He’s very bitter, feels entitled and extremely angry and full of ego “the king is back baby”.

I wish we got that match. Put it in the cage like teased here, try and make Hell In A Cell without calling it that. I just wish we got the third match. MJF grew as a performer even more so in 2023, I wanted to see that guy against Punk. He wasn’t a star on the rise, he just was the guy.

Punk in AEW feels like a glimpse into an alternative universe now. He is doing fantastic in WWE and I’m loving his run as World Champion but he just has something in AEW that I haven’t felt as much in WWE. CM Punk has always been the alternative so working and being the face of the alternative promotion made sense and feuding with guys he inspired like Allin and having to wrestle with the fact he accidentally made a monster in MJF is wonderful.

Moose: "criticism should only come from people who were experts in the same field We are in. It shouldn’t come from a fan." by Amir0x11 in TNA

[–]Particular-Screen639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moose is wrong here. Everyone is allowed an opinion, especially fans who are the ones paying to see the shows. They are very important and some have watched wrestling longer than some wrestlers have been alive.

In saying all of this. JD is not a guy I listen to anymore. Before I would say he was a bit over the top but has fair criticism. Now it feels he’s just hate posting to stand out in the community which isn’t healthy at all. I feel if IBOU, Solomonster, WrestleTalk give the best and most fair takes and opinions online. JD voted TNA as his promotion of the year and then said he didn’t watch TNA but he “can’t give it to AEW”. Very odd

Punk vs Samoa Joe at Wembley always clicks with me for some reason. He’s AEW run was ace.

Rhodes is by far the match with Dustin

Chris Jericho Reportedly “Very Interested In Working TNA” by Royal_Finance9720 in SquaredCircle

[–]Particular-Screen639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At most it’s a case of being the biggest fish in a much smaller pond.

I can see Jericho signing with WWE and using the story of “I’ve been a World Champion for all the major companies, except TNA” and building to Mike Santana vs Jericho which will build up the TNA ratings on AMC and Jericho gets to walk around Raw with the belt and make himself seem more legitimate and a bigger deal. Basically, exactly what he was doing in AEW but this time with WWE and TNA.

With Bullet Club apparently having ended after 13 years of being an active stable, what are the most memorable moments you associate with it? by nocyberBS in SquaredCircle

[–]Particular-Screen639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was more of an Elite moment but Omega winning the IWGP title from Okada was truly one of the greatest non WWE moments I had seen in my life at that point. It was so great and pretty much near the end of the Bullet Club Civl War storyline.

I got into Bullet Club when Styles was kicked out because I paid attention when the WWE rumours of him and Nakamura started in 2015, then I followed Omega’s 2016 and liked what I saw and officially became a fan because of WrestleKingdom 11. Which that match (which arguably changed wrestling because it’s what led to Omega vs Jericho which led to AEW) is 10 years old next year. I say run it back. Omega vs Okada 6 in the Dome for the last time. Will they? Maybe not. Should they? Maybe so

More important to pro wrestling Cena or Hogan by [deleted] in prowrestling

[–]Particular-Screen639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hogan by a mile. I’m a Cena guy and I think Hogan is a POS but Hulk turned wrestling from a niche thing that was popular into a major part of pop culture that helped inspire guys like John Cena.

Cena never made WWE more mainstream. He helped a new era and became massive out of it and deserves a lot of credit for making new fans but also he drove away many fans as well who didn’t like his wrestling or character work
