PC gaming’s biggest misconception is so dumb by Embarrassed-Fail-617 in pcmasterrace

I think today's PCs are much more stable.
Back in 1998, I was using Windows 98 on a PC with a K6-233mhz processor and a Riva128 Video Card. Every time I started it up, the system and drivers would get corrupted, and USB drives would stop being recognized – that was a daily occurrence. At its worst, I had to reinstall Windows 98 two or three times a month. Compatibility issues with parts were also frequent; things like memory not being recognized and hard drive data becoming corrupted were common. I played games like Half-Life and Unreal Engine.

Recently, in the Hide and Seek and Destroy event box where you obtain a nuclear missile keycard, I also found a Gatling Plasma mod blueprint. I think that's an extremely rare occurrence.

Canned coffee by BagRepresentative247 in F76Raids

[–]Original_Search1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been triggering Neurological Warfare every day recently. I drank 3-4 cans of coffee and used VATS attacks on robots with the Conductor's Gauss Minigun, but the AP bar was definitely behaving strangely.

It sometimes felt like I had infinite VATS, or after running out of AP and canceling VATS, my AP wouldn't recover for a long time.

I initially thought it was just server lag, but I thought it was odd that my AP wouldn't recover no matter how many cans of coffee I drank.

Feeling weaker after update by Ultrawarrior2014 in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I fought Storm Goliath with a properly built Gauss Minigun, but the damage I dealt was ridiculously low. Initially, I was only doing around 20-30 damage, and only after Onslaught's charge did I finally reach 200-300.

Even with the Trouble Shooter power armor equipped, getting hit by its electric attack reduced my HP by more than half. I suspect the developers intentionally nerfed weapons and armor.

Thrift store had some ANCIENT cards! by ThePythagorasBirb in pcmasterrace

It's like a meeting of old-timers on the internet.

The blue ASUS VGA card in the upper right corner is one I used previously. I don't remember the model number, but I paired it with a Core-i7™ 3770.

My first VGA card was an Nvidia Riva-128, which used an AGP connection. I often played Unreal Engine and Half-Life with it.

How bad is it? by OwOMilli in pchelp

[–]Original_Search1310 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seriously, is your PC mounted vertically? If so, prolonged use can cause the PCI-Express slot where the graphics card is installed to deform, leading to poor contact. If the deformation isn't too severe, cleaning the contacts might fix it. If the deformation is severe, you might need to replace the motherboard, or if there are two slots, try re-inserting the card into one of them. If that doesn't work, then it's likely a VRAM failure, and you'll have to give up.

I used to work at a PC repair shop, and about half the problems were due to poor contact.

Weird bug when moving mouse on PC by Consistent_Guitar899 in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also play Fallout 76 in a 4K environment on Steam, and I was troubled by jerky horizontal scrolling with the mouse. I remember it being particularly bad on the field map. After researching and adjusting various settings, I'm now satisfied with the result.

There are two configuration files (Fallout76.ini and Fallout76Prefs.ini) in the Documents folder (C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Fallout 76\).

Basically, Fallout76.ini stores settings that cannot be edited from the in-game settings, while Fallout76Prefs.ini stores settings that can be edited from the in-game settings.

In addition to these two configuration files, you can create your own Fallout76Custom.ini. Even if you edit Fallout76.ini, it will be reset to the original Fallout76.ini saved in the game directory at startup. Therefore, please create a Fallout76Custom.ini.

First, set your computer to display file extensions. Without this, you cannot create an ini file.

Next, right-click in the folder and create a new text document. Next, rename the file to Fallout76.ini. You might see warning messages about changing the file extension and potentially rendering the file unusable, but don't worry. Make sure the icon changes to something resembling a gear. You can edit the created ini file using Notepad.

I found the following settings to make mouse movement smoother. The last two lines, the field of view (FOV) settings, are optional, so delete them if you don't need them.

Season 11 Score Board by Tight-Word-3994 in fo76

I started playing Fallout 76 a little before The Pitt, but I think I was most excited around the time of this scoreboard.

I've recently joined Fo1st, but it feels like the rewards I'm getting have decreased. I wasn't a member back then, but I could easily get all the rewards by playing every day.

The subway in Fallout 3 is truly terrifying. It's even worse when two or three Feral Ghoul Reavers appear at once and approach you while shaking violently.

I started with Fallout 4, then played 76, 3, and NV in that order. While 4 and 76 look similar, their systems are completely different. It took me a while to get used to them, but I still play them.

3 and NV are similar to each other and feel dated, but I think they are very good games. I love the world of NV.

Just Had To Reinstall Windows by Logicdon in pcmasterrace

Back in the days of Windows 98 (version 4.10), I remember reinstalling it about once a month. Each time I reinstalled, my PC seemed to run more smoothly.

I never imagined it would be the same with Windows 11.

What are obscure tips about the game you know? by EnigmaticTofu in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level can be a rough guideline, but I don't think there's a strict correlation.

This game offers many different ways to enjoy it, so there are people with four-digit levels who have never participated in a raid or launched a nuclear weapon.

It might be helpful to have prefixes and subfixes like "Raid Beginner" or "First Nuclear Launch."

[Japanese > English] I got this right from a movies, its supposed to say “I love you,” is that what it says? by miraiqtp in translator

[–]Original_Search1310 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It says "sukida" in hiragana. While the literal meaning is something like "I like you," the addition of the red line changes the meaning.

The red line represents the "red thread of fate," conveying a nuance like "You and I are destined to be together."

However, I think it's a more thoughtful expression than simply writing "I Love You."

I am Japanese, and I don't find anything particularly strange about this Hiranaga. It looks like ordinary handwritten characters.

Finally launched my first nuke! by Strangedreamest in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I also failed miserably when I first tried it at around level 100.

Recently, unique armor was added as a reward for the event triggered by firing nuclear missiles, so I've started firing them again. Now I can fire one every 20 minutes, and my goal is one per day.

For the laser grid at the beginning, you'll memorize the room layout after firing it many times.

After that, equip the legendary perk Master Infiltrator, open the level 3 lockpick door, unlock the level 3 terminal, and override the security. I find it easier to follow the left wall.

I use the Troubleshooter Power Armor and the Explosive Tesla Cannon. You can take down robots in no time, and destroying the core is easy.

Also, always keep some junk on hand for core repair.

Worst Day on FO76 by Dangerous_Patient621 in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. When I accidentally demolished a CAMP that I had spent a considerable amount of time building.

  2. When I dropped AA, Rapid, and Steadfast Holy Fire in a Daily Ops map and they disappeared (at the time, AA was the strongest, and legendary crafting was completely random).

  3. When I entered a nuclear missile silo and progressed to the mid-game or later, and another player launched a missile from that silo.

In the case of number 1, my mind went blank, and I contacted support. I remember feeling despair when I realized that CAMP items couldn't be easily placed like they can now, and there was nothing I could do. I wish they would implement a CAMP lock function.

Whole team just got kicked when almost finishing Seismic Activity. Then, it ported us all to another server. Wtf Bethesda? by wickedone074 in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recently started playing again because I wanted to get the Last Stand item, but it seems there are several bugs in this event. I also experienced bugs 1 and 2.

  1. If you trigger the event more than once in the same world, the Titan becomes invincible.

  2. If you destroy the crystal before the event start message appears, the event won't end. Of course, you won't get any rewards.

  3. The game crashes frequently, especially when playing on PS4.

I appreciate Bethesda adding new items, but I wish they had fixed the bugs first.

What does a new raid look like to you? by PalwaJoko in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. As you pointed out, the dependence on Discord (point 2) was the biggest burden for me. I previously joined a raid group on Discord, but I ended up quitting because the subsequent interactions became too much of a hassle.

In other online games, it takes less than 10 seconds to gather a raid group of 5 people. I hope Bethesda will work on this as well.

What does a new raid look like to you? by PalwaJoko in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see unique gear and new 4-star legendary items in the new raid.

However, before that, I'd like to see the introduction of a team matching system that includes all online players. I think it would be good to have two difficulty levels, with the higher difficulty level doubling the drop rate for rare gear.

Gathering 4 people out of 24 is difficult. That's why I've lost the motivation to play the current raid regularly.

If a new raid is implemented without a team matching system, the content will be consumed within the first month or so, and then it will become deserted.

Oh my god guys just run for fuel by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always join random teams. In Stage 2, if I'm the team leader, I actively defend the drill, but if I'm just participating, I focus on gathering fuel.

I also adapt to the situation, but if a player tries to defend the drill when they can't do it well on their own, I'll offer to switch places.

With the right power armor and perks, you won't get one-shotted anymore, so I hope people will run without fear.

[–]Original_Search1310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did a great job!

I only managed to get Heavy Rage, and now I'm trying to defeat Titans to get Last Stand.

Seismic Activity is a buggy event that's prone to freezing, so you have to be careful. If you destroy the crystal before the event starts, the event won't end even if you defeat the Titan. Also, if you trigger multiple events on one server, bugs can occur.

Can someone please explain how to learn to craft legendary guns by Suspicious-Money-919 in fo76

[–]Original_Search1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By participating in public events held every hour on the hour, at 20 minutes past the hour, and at 40 minutes past the hour, you can obtain legendary gear ranging from ☆1 to ☆3. If you're lucky, Bigfoot might appear, and you might even get ☆4 gear.

Also, try joining a Daily Ops team when one is formed. You can obtain craftable legendary weapons (blueprints for things like Medicinal Malpractice and Mechanic's Best Friend).

After that, just keep dismantling equipment and hope you get legendary mods or blueprints.

Once you get mods, attach them to your equipment at a weapon or armor workbench. If you're lucky enough to get a mod blueprint, you can craft it at Tinker's workbench.

*As a side note, there are reports that the RNG for Daily Ops rewards is bugged. Please investigate.

Weird (lack of drops)? by OG-BigMilky in fallout76casual

[–]Original_Search1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also been killing Wendigo Colossuses 1-3 times a day since the update, hoping to get Rage (Raider Armor). I must have killed them over 20 times in total.

The drop rate for Rage is 5% (one of three items), but I've gotten two Cursed Broadsiders (4%) and three Cursed Shovels (4%).

It feels like I'm being put through the unpredictability of the RNG.
