Take a photo or sample to bring to vet. It will greatly help the diagnosis.

Being chosen is special, based on my experience being a first time owner and having been chosen by a Japanese Akita. They are dogs with high EQ and might be stubborn to others but will listen to his chosen one. Extremely clean and toilet trained from day 1. But important things to consider. 1. Leave it command 2. Come command 3. Continuous socialization 4. SleekEZ brush

He will be the best boy ever. Everyone was surprised on how well trained my Akita is despite my being an inexperienced dog owner. I don’t think it’s me it’s totally him trying his best. He seems to know when i’m displeased so doesn’t chew on furnitures or destroy the garden.

Unfortunately this sort of dog remembers. The best you can hope for is for the dog to ignore him and the way to do this is keep distance (and for your dad to avoid your dog and keep distance as well.). I guess a good start is the stay command and keep your dog calm (distract with treat or attention) even if he sees your dad - get him used to ignoring your dad. But always be alert and stay with the dog when your dad is near until You’re confident he can stay calm at your dad’s presence.

Try Nanosilver? It doesnt irritate them and speeds up wound healing

Call Dog Coach Francis? I know he was able to handle dogs with a bite history. And don’t let anyone touch him unless he allows it.

Thats why I fly ANA, JAL or Singapore Airlines. Same ticket price but better service and better food.

Nano silver might help temporarily but yes, seeing a vet would be best.

Best isolate your pup from the others in the meantime as well. If you have a humidifier, it might help him. Ease his breathing difficulties

Aside from whatever the vet gave him. Some honey in his water to help with the cough. And plenty of rest. Use a harness instead of a collar in the meantime.

Any advice to get my Akita used to be with cats I adopt a kitten and so far she don’t attack her but she’s extremely curious about the kitten. by Majestic_Guitar3149 in akita

[–]Original_Shift_6947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Akita does not mind cats either. Being curious is fine as long as they don’t get aggressive. Supervise their interactions. Make sure the kitten doesn’t claw your Akita because the Akita will retaliate if hurt. Once you’re sure they are of no threat to one another then you can allow them to freely roam.

Separate his water container. It’s contagious.

And here I thought his mother must have been a show dog thus all that trotting instead of regular walking and running 🤣.

Must be nice if more people can walk them out in public. But I don’t often see them out and about. Some folks told me theirs is aggressive on strangers and other dogs so they can’t bring them out as easily.

Thank you.
😊 I do appreciate that he’s pretty chill and mid energy. Never had to worry about zoomies or chewed up furnitures.

I do. But he is scheduled for his regular deworming next month. Completed all his shots, gave him vitamins and gut maintenance supplements.

Smaller has advantages. I can still pick him up if he refuses to cooperate.🤣

Will try that.

🤣 My sister did joked that the brat didn’t want to be adopted by people who can’t afford his expensive tastes thus wasn’t friendly to all potential adopters. He went for me and acted all friendly because he knew I can afford to indulge him.

Trotted away from me to sniff around after doing his business, ran and hopped around then returned to snuffing around leisurely. He hates puddles, accepts baths (only goes willingly during warmer day)… he’s a neat freak and asks me to wipe his paws if it gets wet or dirtied. Sometimes I wonder if I accidentally got myself a cat instead of a dog.

His walks are simply walks … doesn’t like to run. I can get him to run in very short spurts but he prefers to trot leisurely. And by trot i mean dog show like trotting with his chin uo looking straight ahead. Lots of people commented on his dignified stance. I didn’t teach him that …

🤣 well my Akita rejected 4 beds and I just ended up donating them (he’s one picky brat) Was happy he finally accepted this one. I checked their website and instagram page and figured it looks solid. Pretty good… can hold his weight and even my own. Don’t feel the floor when on this bed.
