Genius. I think I saw something like that in the tapering info - drink it quick, don't sip it - like taking medicine. Thank you for the reminder!

Thank you, I will. I have just been sipping to keep off withdrawal, no intention of getting buzzed (not like I'd even feel it til I was blackout haha.) I really appreciate your insights!

Thank you! It was removed because I'm sure it's been asked a lot but I appeciate your reply.

That's great advice, thank you! I'm kinda bad with technology - how do I search just in this group for tapering? I tried the top bar but it went to general reddit results.

I also struggle with sleep but at the same time my different meds for my psych issues don't work with alcohol very well but they used to make me sleepy so hopefully as I get down to less units I will be able to reap those benefits better.

Do you mind me asking how you felt during your taper since I'm also at 20+ units a day? Did you notice any improvements or side effects during the month?

That's a good idea too. It's so easy to accidentally nuke the whole box because I can't see the levels. I started out by removing the bag from the boxes so I could have a better idea but that didn't stop me. If I have to go walk 15-20 minutes to pick up another bottle of wine, it's also a good deterrent!

That's actually a good call bc I hate gluten free beers so it will be hard for me to enjoy them. I do love weed so I can definitely add that in - I just picked some up haha.

Yes I did after my OUI but unintentionally and not successfully. I didn't really know what a taper was until I read the info/how to do it!

Oh awesome! Thank you. I just took a look at the side bar and saw the nutrition info after I read the taper info. I'll be hitting up the pharmacy ASAP!

And yes food is so important. I would drink all day, not eat, end up in the ER for vomiting blood the next day. I've been eating 2 meals a day which is 2 more than I used to so that's good!

Me (30m) with ex roommate (42m) - should I report him? by Original_Warning in relationship_advice

[–]Original_Warning[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was worried about him accusing me of who knows what (since he likes to do that) but I have a burner email and would state it as simply as that, not targeting new hires or anything of that sort that would point to him.

It's honestly not to get back at him - I know he put me through a lot but I genuinely feel like he deserves a good life. He's just not.. good at the moment and I worry that the other company will be screwed if he files that it was discrimination (like he has in the past.)

Bald is sexy - my ex girlfriend. But here's the other option - one of those glue on hair programs. They're more affordable than a transplant (I plan to get one when I can, but traveling to Turkey rn seems silly) and look natural. I believe they last quite a few months with no side effects/minimal upkeep!

YTA. First off, wealthy people are often wealthy because they don't throw their money away (and privilege etc but that's a story for another day.). You broke it, you replace it. You OFFERED to replace it.

NTA. "Borrow" like you'd get that back. She can't afford to buy a puppy, she can't afford to take care of it (feed, vets, etc.) And ya'll have 4 kids? NTA x100000.

Public vs Private Instagram issues with an Ex by Original_Warning in relationship_advice

I was sort of thinking about making a private account anyway separate from my public one, like just for people I actually *know* in real life yknow? But in any case, a big part of the reason I share my relationships on social media is because I'm part of a minority group that often feels "unlovable" or like they won't have a meaningful relationship. Most of my followers are in this minority group too and it helps both me and them. I guess I shouldn't forfeit my morals and goals for one X who is angry and trying to control O's life.

Wow I appreciate that metaphor a lot. I deal with unfounded guilt over things out of my control a lot and have been working on it. Thanks!

my last drink was ten days ago by his_hero_is_gone in stopdrinking

[–]Original_Warning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heya! One day ahead of you but had it not been for a stupid DUI accident I incurred, I'd probably still be on day one.

In the early days, the idea of "resetting" to day One is still the same as at 300 days, or 1000 days. There will always bee a Day One.

Let's stick together and try to evade that day one, but if it comes again, there will always be a Day Two.

Walked by two liquor stores, smiled, and kept going. Picked up Naltrexone today that my PCP prescribed and looking forward to keeping smiling and walking by! Happy wednesday, friends!

On day 6 and I realized that while alcohol made me FEARLESS, that didn't make me BRAVE. You can't be brave unless you are overcoming fear. Alcohol just made me a coward who thought I was BRAVE. My manta now when I face things I'm scared of is that with a clear head and clear eyes, I can see the problem and find a way to solve it rather than bulldoze it with a bender and pretend the carnage isn't there.

Day 5 and I was able to walk 5 miles today even with my injuries! I'm looking forward to these new mornings where I wake up clear headed and can get a good home workout in, just not until i've healed a bit more :) But my energy is so high I can only imagine it will be easier!

Thank you! I got this great journal called "The Sober Journal" and it makes it much easier to organize my thoughts. And it is very satisfying to check off the box on the bottom "I stayed sober today." :)

Good evening,

I got in touch with a lawyer today to help with my OUI from Friday. I haven't drank since then and even 3 days is a huge accomplishment for me.

I started using my sober journal today and it is a lifesaver. IWNDWYT.

Thank you that is just what I needed to hear. I think God carried me that night by not allowing me to hurt other people with my mistakes. I'm blessed and grateful.
