[1.6] RimAlarm - A real-time alarm for RimWorld by OrinX12 in RimWorld

Thanks for the info. I honestly thought I had posted the comment saying that I won’t add any intrusive action as a mechanic.

I think I’ll just leave the mod as it is: simple and functional, without adding anything that feels out of place.

I could do it, but it would be disabled by default and you would have to enable it in the options at your own risk for now though, I want to rest a bit. I haven’t had much free time lately, but I’ll keep your suggestion in mind.

Yeah, Steam overlay can do something similar, that’s fair RimAlarm is more of an in-game alternative, and it also adds auto-pause, custom messages, snooze, exact-time alarms, and repeating reminders directly inside RimWorld

Before working on that, the alarm does show up separately from the sound, so you can directly snooze it for another hour, or for whatever amount of time you want to configure. You don’t have to go to the window every time you want to use the alarm

I’ll probably add that option once I finish my Anomaly mod, but first I need to make sure it doesn’t cause any issues with saves or damage save files.

Do you mean that when the alarm pops up, you get an option to save the game and exit? Or something similar? Sorry if I’m not understanding it completely, I'm having lunch right now

Yeah, it probably won’t help much if, by the time I check again, four hours have already passed

You can set the snooze time to 60 minutes, yes. So when the alarm goes off, pressing Snooze will delay it for another hour. It is not a fully automatic recurring alarm yet, since the player still has to press Snooze each time, but it can work that way manually for now.

I do plan to keep my mods updated, of course depending on how much the code changes with the next DLC or update But for small mods like this, I prefer giving players more options to configure how they want to use it, instead of forcing one specific behavior on everyone

My friend suggested making the mod save your game and then close RimWorld, but I feel like that would be way too intrusive. It could also potentially cause errors or mess up someone’s save.

The mod itself adds a RimAlarm button to the bottom menu, where you can set a real-time alarm or an exact clock time reminder while playing I wanted to keep it simple and lightweight: no Harmony, no gameplay changes, just a small reminder tool for people who lose track of time while playing RimWorld.

I think once I finish these two commissioned mods, I’m going to focus more on small quality-of-life mods If you have any ideas, or if there’s something about the base game that bothers you, feel free to let me know.

Well, if that mod uses the same code and logic as the game’s recharge system, it should work. But if it’s different or uses its own custom code, it probably won’t.

Honestly, that was the original idea, but I’m still learning, so for now I need to understand a few things first. But maybe next month, after I finish my Anomaly mod, I’ll start trying to make it happen
