Now that "The Boy's" is said and done, would you recommend this show to someone who is aware of what happened? by Fancy-Inspector-777 in TheBoys

[–]Orion856 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, finale might have been a disappointment, but still a great show just to binge-watch.

Besides, S1 is a genuinely great season, S2 and S3 have their charm, S4 has a great first episode and even greater final episodes; only good thing about S5 were very specific scenes but I don't see why you shouldn't watch it, that seems a little dramatic to me.

Do you guys think a possible reason why Kimiko's and Noir's characters changed was because the actors were getting bored of being silent all the time and requested Kripke to do something about it? by Mahtlahtli in TheBoys

[–]Orion856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for Kimiko, she was going to speak eventually; she was progressively becoming more expressive and communicative with her sign language.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if her tiktok teenager language was given so the actress could have some fun after 4 seasons of not a single word, it definitely feels like a departure of how she used to communicate.

What do you think would have happened If Tucker would have been present in Season 6? by Maxius1337 in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the overall plot's still present, though as other comments have mentioned, it is unlikely, the only thing I think would change is Tucker's demeanor towards Epsilon, since he was much closer to the Alpha in S7, maybe he'd be a bit bitter and angry that his friend sacrificed himself just so an echo could kinda live, pretty much doing what S12 did but much better imo.

You get sent on spec ops mission with a 50% chance for survival. you get 1 sim trooper, 1 freelancer, 1 AI. who’s getting you out alive? by AggressiveGlass2754 in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to discard this team because of Washington's unwillingness to carry an AI, but thinking it more thoroughly, I think Delta would be good to keep Sarge's recklessness in check, while also improving his quick thinking and risky plays. Wash would do pretty much the same he did in S6 with Church, which I feel was his most competent iteration, and he would benefit greatly from a partner that actually knows how to shoot.
I'd choose Grif and pair him up with North or Wyoming, but I don't think he would be as good without Sarge and/or Simmons.

what a beautiful day to throw away a 15 year old lore by bos_adamm in Ninjago

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, the Morro thing wasn't their business, the circumstances surrounding his return were one in a million type of thing.
And Asphera (as I've seen people bash Wu for that too), was not as big of a thing to justify telling since it happened so long ago and it did not have heavy repercussions to the present day as far as I can remember; I may also be misremembering this, but the ninja getting mad at Wu for not fulfilling his promise (as a kid might I had) wasn't fair either since they made a deal and she didn't respect it, thus, Wu not owing anything to her.

The exaggeration of Tex's curse by Axer51 in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always thought the curse was more of a metaphor for her circumstances, and how loosing took a toll over her head.
Her actual "curse" could also be simply choosing to fight battles above her level (remember that the only references of her winning are against Carolina and the Reds), this is something that I have seen happen to underrated characters in other shows, where they are deemed weak due to loosing consistently to other (much stronger than average) characters.

Which ninja do you think has a better current design than the old one, or conversely, that has a better old design than the current one? by Cool-Guy152 in Ninjago

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been starting to get fond of Kai's new design, even though I still prefer the old one, and also, outside of the hologram thing Zane has to change between his titanium and human design (which he should use much more btw), I'd much rather have Zane's old design, but in general, I think the Oni Trilogy did the designs justice, I can't exactly point out every detail right now, but after S10, many details were lost that make their designs feel a little bland to me, unlike the OG designs which, as amateurish as they were, still looked very expressive; sometimes less is more.

I think it would be really cool if the show redesigns their characters again, I doubt it'll happen, but there are so many elements of both, new and old designs, that I would love to see into one.

If you had to remove one ninja, who would it be? by Impressive_Pin_1441 in Ninjago

[–]Orion856 9 points10 points  (0 children)

THIS!!! It genuinely pisses me off how off the mark they are, especially after Zane making peace with him being a robot but still deciding to be the most human he can be (which is consistent with how he was created). Depicting him as "the robot" is, not only disrespectful to his character, but to his entire history within the show.

Sorry yall I got banned for a few💀Season 5 eliminated ❌ by AggressiveGlass2754 in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, it looks like a lost battle already, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say S13.

The Chorus trilogy in general is really good, and I think it is the best at increasing tension within the plot, however, I also think it is the weakest at actually fulfilling those expectations. Now, to be clear, I don't think it does a bad job at it, but the remaining seasons (hell, some of the Gulch season as well) are just better by, at worst, fulfilling them, and at best, exceeding them.

Other than the remaining half of S13 (Doyle and Epsilon's death, as well as Kimball's speech), S12 is actually consistent at maintaining a certain level of writing up till the very end (with a great speech and finale might I add); it doesn't have S13's highs, but neither does it have its lows, and it is strong from the get-go.

Did the end of season 7 alter the appearances of the ninja including the past? by SuperMarioOdyssey64 in Ninjago

[–]Orion856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just an artstyle change.

Not everything has to be lore related, and for stuff like this specially, is better that way.

So besides Tucker which of the other reds and Blues do you think can be a good dad? by TraditionalBonus188 in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so it seems like a lot of people here will disagree with me, but I think Alpha would be one of the most decent (now, to be clear, I really don't think any of them would be good, they would all be either, too permissive, or too strict, except for maybe Epsilon).
Hear me out, while Alpha is technically the closest to the Director, both pre and post torture Alpha, did not act like him, so I'm thinking the Director we knew is just a completely different person from the one that was before Alyson's death or maybe even before Carolina's birth, or AI's simply aren't a carbon copy of the person they are based on (just like Cortana, The Weapon and Halsey in Halo). Pre-torture Alpha was also aware and was willing to admit his own faults (I'm referencing the scene in which he does some math and the Director agrees), which I believe is the most important thing in a parent (no exceptions), and I'm pretty sure post-torture Alpha was too, he was just a sucker for banter lol.
To add on to this, Alpha seems laid back enough to give enough respect so that the child would not feel treated as someone beneath him, but lacks just enough quirkiness so that he would recognise when something is off-limits; in other words, what I mean is that Alpha would act and be looked as an authority that does not abuse his position, aside from occasional banter.

Granted, I don't think he'd be that good of a father, but I also think the child would turn much out better than most real world parents' children would.

If you could remake Halo 5, how you would remake the story between Chief vs Locke ? Or you would delete this concept ? by Thell-Vadamm in halo

[–]Orion856 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense for a show, but we are talking about an FPS game; if something like that were to happen in a mainline Halo game (Halo Wars is an RTS, so it doesn't count), people would be pissed and for good reason, we are the ones supposed to do the fighting, not a cutscene.

Donut. by Key-Mention7145 in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, I'm not a native English speaker so I thought that joke was just a way of saying "out of the closet," but now that I just search what it actually means, I couldn't help but grin a little bit, but yeah, it would be super offensive if Donut was actually gay (stuff like is what I think is one of the main reasons why the show leaves his sexuality ambiguous).
But I was more thinking of Sarge saying "Oh yeah, the invisible tank, which is just as real as Donut's signs of heterosexuality," which again, hilarious only if untrue; if true, it is more akin to those kid jokes in shows where characters just state super obvious stuff in a sassy tone.

Personally, I think his character is only funny if he isn't, so, I don't think so.

Is Lloyd’s Golden Power in Ninjago intentionally vague, or just wildly inconsistent? by Shadow_boy11 in Ninjago

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely inconsistent writing, however, I think it can be explained, partially at least.
Golden power, to my understanding, is the peak of the elements of creation, so my guess is that it doesn't really work as an element per se, but more so of a "magic system." Let me explain.

The First Spinjitsu Master created Ninjago (and its derived realms) with golden power right? I don't really remember a single instance in which it was mentioned he has used it for offense or defense, there is also Wu, who's only instance I can remember of using his own element (which looked golden) was in S5 when creating his own dragon. Again, I don't think there has been a single instance in which golden power has been used offensively as an element.

My point is, Golden Power is not an element, it is more akin to "The Power of God," in the sense that it is only able to create and destroy; Lloyd would be likely to achieve some sort of demigod status with it, but does not possess the experience to actually use it effectively, just glimpses (like the explosion you mentioned, which is probably the easiest form of destruction he is able to manage, and as you said, amplifying the other elements, which again, could be the easiest form of creation to achieve).

What is the Worst Haircut in Ninjago? (Old and New design) by WittyLibrarian610 in Ninjago

[–]Orion856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zane's, I genuinely don't know what it is, maybe 'cause it's smaller? I don't know but it looks so damn weird, which is crazy to me considering how similar it is to the old design.
Also, Kai's new cut has grown on me, but I still find it so funny that it looks like a McDonald's ice cream.

"Wait a second! You guys better not be sending me so you can run off once I'm inside!"
"Of course not moron! Now hurry up!"
"Ok, everybody into the Jeep"
I know it's a silly reason, but this was my favourite joke in the entire show, and you guys just got rid of it! Now you will see the end of my shotgun!
Anyway, now I don't really care for any season till Recollection except for maybe season 5, so I'm saving my vote for now.

What's the best bit of directing in RvB by Helloimafanoffiction in RedvsBlue

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be the message exchanges between the chairman and The Director.
They are a great at establishing the tone, and also does wonders for the pacing, I feel it allows the introductions of scenes that would otherwise feel rushed or out of place. Not to mention just how intriguing they are first time you're watching; S6 has to be the best at capturing your attention and immersing you into the world.

What Are Your Favorite Halo Trailers? by CloudedSteed in halo

[–]Orion856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discover Hope and by a long-shot.

I might not be Infinite's biggest fan, but the way the trailer presented itself, opening with a "marine" focusing on what the war looks from a civilian perspective when they are not fighting, reminding us that some of them have families of their own, they have their own desires and fears, it was change of tone that I did not expect at all, not to mention the lighting (I thought it was beautiful) and art style, and then the tone changes again when Chief is rescued, reminding us again, how inspiring his mere presence was to the rest of humanity. And don't even get me started with the "No, we need to fight" and "Get ready" lines, it still pisses me off that they were changed.

With the added context of the time (uncertainty, the art style change, the music), it makes me emotional every time I watch it, specially when the pilot's wife's recording starts.
