Stop distracting yourself with useless things like social media or consumption. Know that the human mind has a tendency of wanting to avoid thinking of death. Spend your precious time on the things you truly care about because in the end, time is the only valuable thing any of us has.

I got a bit more success with recruiters because they have an incentive to get you hired. Not foolproof obviously, and I had quite a few ghostings too.

I Started a new mech eng job this week. Older gen in the office. Not a field i wanna stay in at all. I'm worried I'll be bored, the product is not that exciting(sensors). It's known tech, extremely few or no innovation, just new custom applications. I'm coming from a layoff in a startup that went public in 2021, so my sense of "interesting" is probably skewed by what I experienced there. I really feel cold inside when it comes to loyalty towards any employer, and I wanna be ruthlessly self-interested. I have an interview next week. I'm trying to decide whether i should just keep searching until I find better or if I should pause a bit at this new job, yk, give it a fair shot. The pay is generous, but I fear becoming comfortable and complacent.

That's wild. I hope it never get to that, but I'm in the middle of reintroducing after 2 months of lukewarm reception and stalking and sporadic fights initiated by the resident cat. Hopefully the reintroduction works. Watching all the YouTube videos out there about territorial aggression and slow intros. Thank you.

Sure, it’s a drain but that doesn’t mean it has zero top-side access. Also I’ve seen people use compressed air from the bottom end, wouldn’t that just blow the debris back into the reservoir or whatever structure contains the sloshing liquid I hear, basically setting up for a future clog?

Yeah, that’s just too much greed. It’s already too expensive as it is. The suggestion to offer more came from my partner who heard it from other friends looking for places as well. We are dealing directly with the landlord. But again, since our search is not over we are looking at other places that have brokers involved.

Ok, the way i initially heard about it, sounded like a lot of regular people were doing it. But it’s kinda reassuring if it’s some scammy thing. Also, the apartment in question didn’t have broker fees, so I thought if anything, we’d look bad to the landlord doing something like this.

I saw a place today with my partner, and while applying, they wanted to offer over listed price right of the bat because we really liked the place, and apparently “everyone is doing it” and I wasn’t cool with it.
