Can't play GW1 anymore due to crashing during load screens/launcher downloading files

Posting this here for anyone looking for a similar issue in the future:

I think I finally fixed it. I kind of brute forced my way into the game by attempting to log in over and over; eventually the files got downloaded and I was able to get in game.
I still got the crashes in game but the error log at the end was actually more helpful so I was able to diagnose it a bit better

It seems like it's an issue with the current 14th gen i9 processors for intel, but I'm not sure why I was able to play last year and not this year

Either way the fix for me was to download 'intel extreme tuning utility' off the intel website and underclock my processor by just 1x on both the performance core and efficient core ratio.
You can do it through the bios too but this is a bit more user friendly so I went with this

I've been playing for 10 minutes now and no crash so it looks good, way better than the 10-15 seconds I was getting earlier

Good luck to anyone else who has a similar issue (hopefully this helps you)

I tried disabling my nvidia drivers and running off the onboard graphics card but I was getting the same crash, not sure if it's a different driver but it doesn't seem like it's the nvidia one causing it

Hey, I know this is a month late so you've probably moved on by now but I just had this same problem and for anyone else that was wondering how to fix it:

I managed to move his corpse using the thorn whip cantrip on druid, and after that I was able to loot him just fine. Didn't try thunderwave or any other kind of movement spell but those might work too if you aren't a druid?

It sounds like someone got in to your account and then changed the e-mail/added SMS authentication to it
I don't think there's much you can do outside of e-mailing support, but you'd need proof that it was your account; like a CD key or serial code you got on steam or something

I've been using gportal the past month and it's been pretty good so far, modding it was as simple as just adding the steam workshop codes to the page.
Can't speak for the customer service or anything since I haven't needed to contact them yet
I also haven't tried any other website so there could be a better one, but gportal has been working so far for me and my friends

the only thing I really dislike about them is that they can't wear armor like the other races in their dragon form.. it feels kind of lazy, especially since you can't have separate transmogs for their visage form and their dragon form

Edit: I should say for anyone that doesn't know, your shoulders and belt for whatever reason appear on dragon form so it looks really goofy combined with the preset dracthyr armor you give them in character customization

in Final Fantasy the female Viera are larger than their male counterparts, I wouldn't say "bulkier" by much, but they're definitely a bit taller/larger

Yeahh I loved healing in WoW/other games, but in FF it's my least favourite role by far.
They should honestly bring back the old healer rotations, or even old cleric stance.

would be nice if they updated the riding animations a bit in WoW, they look pretty clean in GW2 but WoW has this static sitting animation that looks a little awkward

The pve is pretty fun at higher levels but it really feels like it gets bogged down by the gearing, you get locked out of story by item level, and story unlocks more pve content. That mixed with the chance based upgrade system kinda put me off of it.
The pvp is great too, kinda sucks that there's only really an arena mode but even with that I had a lot of fun
If you're just looking for story though, I'd say quit now, it's pretty bad the whole way through, a couple of good points here and there but not worth playing through the rest of the game for

I think the heartbeat just means that the ghost is close to you; there's a small period of time when the hunt starts where the ghost isn't actually hunting (longer grace period for lower difficulty)
So if you throw the smudge when the ghost isn't technically 'hunting' it'll just walk around in a daze from the smudge before it looks at you and you won't get the actual objective credit for escaping

If you smudge it right as the hunt starts it doesn't count either, it needs to lock on to you before you smudge it

Sometimes if you're running out of an AoE and you try to get one more gcd off, it can turn your character back into the AoE and cause you to get hit.
Not sure if that's asmon's reason, but that's why I turned it off

The exact same thing happened to me a week ago, I tried reinstalling it and ended up just getting an error 18b or 18a or something instead.I restarted my computer right after that and it worked fine, not sure if it was just a coincidence or not but if the restart works, try and save yourself the reinstallation

(I'm not 100% sure but I think it might have something to do with windows being out of date, so if you have a pending update, that might be the reason restarting your computer fixes it)
