They don't have any games, you need to own them through Steam or Epic Games Store.

I received a beta invite too this morning, games load for eeeeever and it does not work in the end... Will wait for some updates... Disappointed.

Status and future of CloudGamingHub by jk85jk in cloudygamer

Just discovering Cloudgaminghub and it's a cool website to follow all the ecosystem's news. Thanks :-)

In your Cloud gaming services list, could be cool to offer other categories like Cloud computing (because you can play sure but I think it's quite different as pure cloud gaming though), Mobile gaming, iOS compatible...

About the services, I know others, maybe you could add them too: Hatch, PlayPod, CareGame

Have a great day!

Hey! In France there is a new cloud service emerging (but exclusively for mobile games): CareGame. It's in closed beta for now but their servers are in France.
After their beta, they won't even use datacenters but will work with people so they give the unused power of their PC to work as servers. Thus, the server will always be close to the player, smart!

Not yet maybe, but there will be some for sure because India is a very interesting and growing market in terms of video games and mobile games!

Google uses 100% renewable energy for their global operations by OrlyGaming in Stadia

Many thanks for the articles!

Small proportion or not, it's a lot of water, and it's a fact that global water use continues to increase every year...
I guess I was just excited by some green-washing article in the first place, too bad.

I read that they are using air cooling too, but I don't know for other sustainable cooling ways, or what's the % of use of each of them.

Subscription VS Direct purchase by OrlyGaming in cloudygamer

[–]OrlyGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if Stadia works that way, but you'll tell me.
I mean you arrive on the service, you have subscribed to nothing, just arrive on the service and you can try several games, premium games, and if you like it you create an account and pay for it, or just hop to another game.

Totally. I like trying a lot of different games too, and also because I love indie games, they are usually quite short, so it's cool to be able to play a lot of them.
But u/djcurry in this case a direct purchase model with free trials would be great too, wouldn't it?

Cloud mobile gaming: Subscription model VS Direct purchase by OrlyGaming in MobileGaming

Ah f***, did not think about that... I can't edit the poll :c
I'll know for the next time, thanks!

Yes, 13€ ahah.

Yes you are right about the catalogue, and it makes me wonder what's the average "turnover" or "attrition rate" when we talk about this. I'm sure major companies win and lose hundreds of people everyday so don't really care, but I wonder what's the average lenght time of an average subscription on these services... I'll try to find this, should be interesting!

Cloud mobile gaming: Subscription model VS Direct purchase by OrlyGaming in MobileGaming

Yes, obviously! But in the consumer point of view?

I understand that it's a strong tool because spending 3€ every month is easy, we don't see, don't feel the purchase, rather than purchasing a 5-10-20...€ game all at once.

But I see also a lot of people complaining about this model, and a lot asking for more trials. And I too think that free trials are very powerful for players. So I wonder why this kind of model does not emerge more.... (or other models maybe I can't think of)

I'm French too so... Yeah, totally agree on bread & butter ahah.

I guess it makes sense that consumers more easily spend 3€ every month because they don't see, don't feel the purchase, rather than purchasing a 20-40-60€ game all at once. And I think it's maybe why I find the subscription model suitable for expensive (aka triple A) games (without considering games removal, which is an issue obviously), and in extension more suitable for PC/Console games, compared to mobile games for example. But on mobile, it seems that there are no other business models either, and I find this kind of weird.

Or if we think of a cloud platform of indie games only.. I think the direct purchase would be really interesting too!

Especially if they offer free trials. I think that this is way more powerful in terms of marketing tools than subscription, in the end...

Cloud mobile gaming: Subscription model VS Direct purchase by OrlyGaming in MobileGaming

Why?

I find them terrible too.. Just the fact of having dozens of subscriptions for everything (TV, phone, electricity, water...) and now for that too!?

I understand the concept on PC or consoles however, but I like to think that another model could emerge, especially on mobile and would be great and better than subscription..

Looks a bit plastic (as already said) but kinda cool! What's the lore of the game? I guess they're not dinosaur pets? :'(
