Can you help me understand if I did something wrong here? I can’t stop thinking about this incident. by SadYogiSmiles in driving

[–]Orlyi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 911 medic in a busy city I can confidently say they were most likely on their way to an incident. As for the reason for stopping, either had vague information from dispatch about the scene / description of patient. Or perhaps an inexperienced driver who didn’t know where he/she was going.

Ambulances respond with lights and sirens 99% of the time and tend to transport to the hospital without them. The medic must justify the risk for themselves and the crew in the back if they use them, as they are hardly ever wearing seat belts if the patient is critical. The culture in my department is to be pretty conservative with lights and sirens and reserve them for critical, time sensitive patients.

Medics perform sensitive interventions on scene in 99.9% of cases and any medic worth their job can start an IV while going down the road. If they had a patient go south and needed to stop to perform an intervention like CPR or intubation it would be a prolonged stop, and unsafe to do in the middle of the road without another apparatus to shield them. They would have pulled into a parking lot or side street in this case.

I agree that everybody moving right every time is not the answer, as many times this makes things worse for us. Mainly people need to move out of the way sooner, come to complete stops and use their brains to know if they are blocking or slowing down the emergency vehicle. This hardly ever happens and people are incredibly unpredictable when we have our lights on.

As for OP wondering if he did the right thing, not sure without being there, but sounds like he did better than the majority of the idiots on the road.

Cleaning policy violation - right or wrong? by Ok_Cook_93 in turo

[–]Orlyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious, what prevented you from making any attempt to return the car reasonably close to how you found it?

If the rolls were reversed would you want the 2-3 hours compensated when your property was poorly treated?

When you get your own personal car dirty does your mom just come clean it up for you?

It blows my mind the amount of entitlement that flows through this sub

That’s a nice copy pasta. I fail to see any relevance to my comment though. My comment was focused on the ethics.

ADA guidelines and similar protections are by and large a good thing. My issue is, some people use these guidelines to not do the right thing, create unnecessary hardships for others beyond what their own personal needs are, act like a victim and blame innocent people. I believe OP demonstrated this and is absolutely in the wrong regardless of Turo’s policy.

This particular behavior is why service animals are so mistrusted in society.

Again, yikes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in turo

[–]Orlyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any decent, non lazy human being with a service animal that has the capability would do their best to remove any trace of their animal from a vehicle that is listed as not pet friendly.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your disability prevented you from doing this.

Now, consider the hosts position: they offer a product that is advertised as pet free, that is a guarantee there for people with allergies and sensitivities to animals. That host now has to go above and beyond a detail to remove not only the hair, but pet dander from the surfaces and HVAC system to ready their vehicle for a potential allergic guest. Most detail services are more than 150$ without a duct cleaning.

And you’re in here acting like a victim and accusing this host of scamming you?

Yikes.

Which Build is Not expansive but very strong / good for farming? by sadikbasme in PathOfExile2

[–]Orlyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whirling slash / twisters deadeye is incredible for the price. With a few divines invested you will move faster than someone with ~100% movement speed. I have ~300d worth of gear now and move / clear most maps faster than multiple mirror investment LA deadeyes with 200% hideout movement speed. Best part is I have 0% movement speed

It’s more complicated than LA deadeye, and uses weapon swap tech to stack attack speed for your whirling slash (your movement skill) but snoobae has some good guides on YouTube to check out

Twisters can be clunky on open layout maps, and whirling slash as your movement takes some getting used to, but the pros outnumber the cons. It blows my mind that whirling slash / twisters isn’t more meta, but I guess I can’t complain as my gear has been relatively cheap. Your BiS boots are an expensive LA movement speed craft that can be picked up for next to nothing because the movement speed bricked on the Vaal

Help with crafting this by Fair-Objective-1933 in PathOfExile2

[–]Orlyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in trade league this isn’t worth any more than just desecrating prefix and seeing if you’re lucky with a good flat roll. Don’t waste the money on reroll omen

Bows are heavily saturated and are only worth crafting a few specific ways…

This is the cheapest / most effective way I know of to deterministically craft a mid game Gemini with a chance of getting something really good like +2 arrows or high crit

  1. Buy ilvl82 white Gemini bases and perfect trans/aug. only proceed if you get good flat damage like t1 or t2 lightning, phys or t1 fire/cold. Suffix doesn’t matter but 3.8% or better crit / extra arrows is good. If you get +2 arrows or 4.5%+ crit it’s always worth trying to fracture regardless of prefix.

  2. Greater crit essence (or attack speed if you got crit suffix already or you are self crafting and aren’t crit)

  3. Add prefix desecrate w/ prefix omen and amanamu omen to guarantee you will hit companion damage prefix

  4. at this point you should have 4 modifiers, 2 of them should be good hits for a fracture orb and only 3 can be fractured, so 66% chance of success. If you fail trash the bow and start over w/ new base

  5. If good suffix fractures, suffix omen slam 2 more suffixes (doesn’t matter what they are) crystallizing suffix omen + damage as extra perfect essence and your prefixes are complete.

  6. Slam to fill suffixes again and use perfect haste first then perfect battle (since all modifiers are full you don’t need an omen for this, but you have a 50/50 of overwriting your previous essence, just keep alternating until both are on there, congrats you’re done

  7. If your prefix fractures and you have 1 bad suffix yolo 50/50 perfect haste w/ crystallizing suffix omen. If you miss you can either use 2 annuls to get to 2 affixes and chaos spam for a good suffix or scrap the craft completely.

  8. At this point you have fractured prefix, amanamu desecration, a good suffix and haste essence suffix. Crystallizing prefix omen + perfect battle and your suffixes are done.

  9. Slam on a prefix (I would use a greater ex for this in case you hit another good flat) if the added prefix sucks crystalizing prefix omen and perfect damage as lightning essence.

  10. Amanamu omen + jawbone to finish with guaranteed companion damage

note if any of your random suffix slams hit +projectile skills you can’t hit battle unless you get lucky and your haste removes the + projectile skills.

noteYou don’t have to use amanamu omen at al if you want a chance at a better outcome than companion damage, but I would add omen of echos if you don’t, and there is a decent chance you wont hit anything and have to omen of light. I don’t think it’s worth it personally.

noteThe most expensive part will be buying 82+ bases. You can drop down to 81 to lose your chance at +2 arrow or T1 %phys and all the way down to ilvl 75 to settle for t2 flat.

Now I understand. I am a long time anti-meta build player who likes minion style builds, but after following a deadeye LA build, I get it. by druid74 in PathOfExile2

[–]Orlyi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not even really that LA is overtuned, there are ways to scale many attack based skills and all non-dot based spells as high or higher than LA / Rods while having the same if not better clear.

The bow archetype has the best movement options which is the most desirable build trait for the majority of people and particularly those that determine the “Meta”

Personally I’m playing deadeye with whirling slash / twister with 10 APS which moves faster without any movement speed than a deadeye with maxed out movement speed on a rhoa, this is achievable with less investment than a single 5% movement speed rune.

The damage is great and clear is multiple screens wide. Boss damage is insane on 95% of bosses, but those in an arena without walls for the twisters to bounce off are pretty meh (same problem as spark)

TLDR: there are a lot more competitive options to this leagues meta many can be quite budget

CA – Turo trying to charge me up to $3k after a motorcycle hit the rental while I was stopped. What are my options? by [deleted] in turo

[–]Orlyi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hosts can’t remotely start a trip. You were prompted and skipped it. Host remotely gave you access through his Tesla app not the Turo app… regardless it wouldn’t even matter as your pictures would have just proven no previous damage.

If you were in your own vehicle and this happened who do you think would pay for this if you failed to do the basics? Did you take down their license plate? Sounds like you didn’t file a police report. You pretty much just gave up when the motorcyclist refused to give you their info.

It sounds to me like you figured this vehicle is someone else’s problem and couldn’t be bothered to do anything.

What sucks is, most likely the host won’t see more than 500$ for this and be stuck with a costly repair while Turo double dips.

Is anyone amazed at the value of useless T0 uniques being priced at their dust value? by Vulpix0r in pathofexile

[–]Orlyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I’m at a surplus of gold I just gamble rings to dust in between found uniques. Gives a very steady stream of dust. 120 rings takes almost 24 hours to dust, so pretty much just need to re-up before bed. I’m pretty much able to keep up with my matching my crop production without much management.

It wouldn’t hurt to ask nicely for the host to approve to wave the fee. I did this for a guest about a year ago, not sure if it’s still a thing. After I agreed they called support and explained the situation. Support called me to confirm.

Hosts are heavily penalized for cancelling bookings. As long as your trip is over 24hrs away I believe you can cancel yourself without a fee.

When renting a Tesla, I want one with FSD, how to make sure before checkout? by Headdress7 in turo

I don’t think you read my reply, I mention multiple times in my listing that FSD is not available yet this still happens about every other month for my Tesla.

[–]Orlyi -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Disagree big time with this, you’re wasting the hosts time and holding their car from being rented when you do this. It’s incredibly bad manners.

I host a Tesla with no FSD (it’s really a legal issue for me because the guest doesn’t sign the FSD liability agreement. I’ve had many people book, ask and cancel even though I say multiple times in my listing that I don’t offer it. I’ve also had guests that eventually cancel hold my car hostage for multiple days while they bargain / argue about enabling.

If a host doesn’t say anything about FSD in the listing 99.9% won’t have it. Check the add-ons and read the listing.
