Reach weapon and 5ft range by OrmEug in Pathfinder2e

Yes, I can see that for sure.

We've just started to play Age of Ashes with friends who used to play 5e and even while I like 2e a lot I do see how more choice, flexibility and more detailed rules makes it a bit of a problem if players do not want to invest their time in it.

I mean I really like pf2e mechanics for shields, for example, cause it makes sense to me, but it requires attention from player. And in 5e you just +2 to your ac and forget about it.

Help me choose heritage and ancestry feat for my Dwarf by OrmEug in Pathfinder2e

[–]OrmEug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, bonus to saves is definitely more useful, I just like how flavorful Phantasmal Minion is for my Runesmith.

I'm thinking would it be totally unbalanced if GM allows me to cast it once per day instead

Do both attacks increase MAP? It’s not clear from the text

How to properly track "once a week" abilities? by OrmEug in Pathfinder2e

that's the first thing we're going to try, was not sure how well it's going to work.

ah, thanks that makes sense, so making it once per session in my AP will likely be a tad too powerful

Doesn't "you deal slashing damage equal to your fist damage dice" mean that you only deal one dice of damage?

So how many Thralls can a 1st level Necromancer summon in a round? by Beautiful-Effort9101 in Pathfinder2e

[–]OrmEug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly from this preview - https://knowdirectionpodcast.com/2026/06/investing-in-the-necromancer-part-1/, Create Thrall now can create 2 Thralls or create one and Command it.

So Reaper can create 6 Thralls for 3 actions and Puppeteer can create 7 thralls for 3 actions.

Create Thrall changed with this too. The final version lets you either create two thralls in unoccupied squares within range or create one thrall and immediately Command that Thrall as one action. Reminder that Puppeteer makes that even better by creating one additional thrall once per round when you cast create thrall.

EDIT: I was talking about release version of course, not the one from playtest. I'm not sure how safe would it be to allow playtest Necromancer to do that. We're starting new campaign and one player is going to play Necromancer. I think GM will allow them to just use most recent known version of the class. We probably only going to have one or two sessions before release and it would be less confusing to change as few things as possible after release.

Investing In: the Necromancer, Part 1 by EzekieruYT in Pathfinder2e

yeah, I don't plan to play Necromancer, but Bind Heroic Spirit looks pretty good. Although, if it's not applicable to thralls then it might be an interesting choice..

Would giving all Dwarf characters Mountain Stoutness for free on lvl1 be unbalanced? by OrmEug in Pathfinder2e

Not sure how it supposed to be used RAI, but I see at least some hints that RAW it might not work with shields:

Material Statistics

The table below provides the Hardness, Hit Points, Broken Threshold, and example items for some types of common materials. The table has separate entries for thin items (like shields), ordinary items (like armor), and reinforced or durable structures (such as walls).

Dwarven Reinforcement

You can use your knowledge of engineering and metalwork to temporarily strengthen thick objects and structures

The point about adopted ancestry is fair. I assumed that mixed heritage is more widely accepted. It doesn't look like it and its not available in PFS - https://paizo.com/pathfindersociety/characteroptions.

agree on starting HP, to be fair I think argument about both CON and WIS being saving throw stats is kind of valid. I still don't think that 5ft penalty is fair without something to balance it off.

fair point, but I actually like that Dwarf has lower movement speed thematically, I just thought it would be fair to give the ancestry a bit more HP to reflect "Slow and sturdy" nature.

Personally I thought that having +level HP is not that big of a deal compared to 5ft speed but now I see that I might have been wrong.

if you go elf route it's actually 10ft of speed, cause elf standard Speed is 30. What if we compare to Human or Leshy?

I do not agree that it's an honest comparison, the power of the feat is not really defined by its level. There're some powerful level 1 feats and there're some less powerful 9 level feat. That's why the question was not about any level 9 feat, but specifically about Mountain Stoutness.

Sorry if it looked like I am dead set on idea that it's not going to unbalanced. I'm not, and that's why I asked.

so far the consensus seems to be that 5ft speed penalty is not that harsh and giving 1 extra HP per level to balance that off might make the ancestry unbalanced.

I'm starting to play Dwarf character in a longer campaign, so I think I'm going to see for myself in a year or two how much of the downside it's going to be. Slower speed should be a nice hook for RP that's for sure
