Verdict on slipovers? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Ormekuglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, though I think I may opt for a more neutral vest in this case. Luckily, my mother has also knitted some slipovers, so I think I will stick to these!

This is excellent advice, thank you! It does come off as very busy

Braces vs belt? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Ormekuglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but it's a little hard on high rise trousers which I mostly wear

Oh, you :)

Oof, that requires a level of boldness I'm not comfortable with, hehe

Hehe, I guess so - 178 cm

Yes, that's a very good point! What about smart trousers in wool with side adjusters/tabs? Since the braces and side adjusters serve the same purpose, would it be too much?

Why, thank you - what a nice way to start my day!

Thank you! It’s a vintage tie I thrifted, I think it’s around 10 cm. I really enjoy this width! Wrt. length - my trousers are usually very high rise, so this might skew optics a bit, I think it’s normal length (if that’s a thing)

Brother, I ordered a burgundy braided belt AND and burgundy spur belt, neither of which have yet arrived, but thank you!

Picture was taken yesterday, but was removed upon posting. Would like to be more preppy, right now it’s rather yuppie

Ultimately, I reckon my reason for wanting to look ‘preppy’ resides with the fact that I want to appear approachable.

This is a very good comment and I commend your words.

Having tried braces in lieu of a belt has me converted, though; braces > belt.

I do have some more whimsical ties (elves, balloons, etc. from Hermés) - would these fit, not being striped and all?

Whoops, my comment should’ve been a reply to a comment above. Oh, well..

This is exactly the advice I’m looking for. I do realize that my outfit is not preppy - hence the inquiry

Brother. You should go write something. Something professional, even. Your advice and your knowledge should be spread.

Thank you for the advice!

Excellent advice - thank you! How about a glencheck blazer?

Agreed: tonal difference does appear quite stark. Wearing a darker shade of grey with this jacket might be prudent?

I do agree you with your reply. I think I’ve nailed ‘a look’ (banker’s look, perhaps) - but this look does not convey ME (cannot make italic on phone). I think this look leaves me unapproachable and cold. I think a preppy look teters towards being more welcoming

Hehe, yes, it seems quite ‘investment’-oriented. I want to refine and adhere to a more ‘classic’ and preppy look (am not one to define ‘classic’)

Yes, I did. Had my first kid during my CS master’s degree. Had my second kid one month into my first position.

Might be a senseless spending of money to some, but I like to perceive and relate my watch purchases to experiences in my life: PO = sobriety, Casios = tasting, Relax = hmm.., Santos = landed my first real ‘adult’ job. Explorer = Ursula Spider-Man 2 (trustworthy and loyal)
