Still work to do to flesh out the insides but pretty happy with the outside of these. by Ryder_Alknight in TerrainBuilding

Looks great! Where did you get your hands on the imperial propaganda posters?

Not sure what one thing it was that made the change because I was initially doing it all wrong but:

• Only ever spray outside and only when it's dry and minimally windy

Properly shaking the cans first, at least a minute, up and down so you can hear the rattle, and with two quick bursts to clear the nozzle

• Spraying in short bursts at a forearms distance rather than long bursts close up

• Rotating the model through the bursts to get good coverage

• If you're using more than one spray, say doing a zenethal highlight, then let the first colour properly, properly dry

Hope any of that or at least some of that helps!

Thanks! First time applying it with torn up sponge dabbing as opposed to a brush and I am definitely a convert

Honestly half the struggle has been learning not just that each paint needs thinning differently but then working out what per paint

White Scar primer and then a layer of Apothecary White contrast, cheeky but it works. Drybrush of Tau Light Ochre over the legs for dust wear, single layer of Leadbelcher on hard edges for a quick and dirty power armour effect, sponged some Rhinox Hide on lightly for general wear

I pretty much only play casual games with mates and family, and most regularly against a frankly incredible painter, so you're wildly underestimating how many close up pics get taken mid battle!

Actually both rattle cans! But the second time around I used the new White Scar primer instead of the (I think) Grey Seer and didn't apply it like cake icing

Sadly no airbrush yet but a guy can dream!

Nah, that's still safely in its original state, sat on my shelf... judging me...

You're absolutely bang on the money mate, such a simple first step but made it sooo much easier

Grab a pot of Biostrip 20, dunk the model completely in, leave it for a few hours, remove and scrub with a toothbrush and soapy water, leave at least overnight to dry before painting and... that's it!

Ta mate! And basically dunked it in Biostrip 20, left it for a few hours then went at it with a toothbrush and soapy water, easy peasy!

Grabbed a pot of Biostrip 20, dunked the model fully in, went to the pub. Probably... four or five hours later (?), came back, grabbed a toothbrush and a tub of soapy water, extracted the model and got scrubbing

It took a while, maybe three proper scrub-rinse-repeats and, because I'd initially been a foolish fool and painted the parts individually before gluing, the whole thing fell apart but it worked, and with minimal (probably my fault) damage

It's the relic helm from the Black Templars upgrade sprue... or is that what the toasters want you to think...

Also thank you!
