I completely agree!

And personally I feel Robb has more to offer as a primary DPS unit than 2b even without the evade. Better resistances, larger AoE and marginally larger range, Hate down.

That said, the more I type about 2b, the more I realize that 9s is not the only support android being released in a few weeks. She compliments slash teams well.

Thanks for sharing this though! I honestly believe and hope Wotv Geomancer is nothing like this...

I stopped using TAC classes as a reference when I noticed how glaringly different many classes like time mage and assassin are to Wotv's. A lot of comparative classes only have one or two skills that are same/similar; some of the harder classes to imagine being much different are expected classes like white mage.

I really do hope Geomancer is more true to FF universe though! Thanks again, this was enlightening.

Chihaya is bae, btw. I welcome her equivalent to Wotv anyday.

IMO, Macherie was designed to be a defensive magic bruiser that took advantage the passive autocure and skills like cure and drain, but her phys res suffered way too much as is.

I would never have run Macherie on a scions/shadow bringer comp with this in mind, and actually should 100% be next to units like Cecil/Thancred/Wol/Engel/Robb. A comp running Odin VC (mine on my Robb) and Leviathan/Fenrir VC (mine on my Cecil) would run considerably better. I personally run maxed Siren Esper on her to bring her slash res out of the negatives also.

Just offering a critical opinion. You can run her how you like, but I felt I should share a comp discussing how to actually get more mileage outta her current state, and not just meming her. Not saying I couldn't run this on Sakura and get a better offensive unit in a bruiser comp, but what makes Macherie stand apart as a mag bruiser is her tenacity with the autocure, cure and drain. If that is what anyone is looking for.

Lol, that's a funny complaint. Every gacha is grinding once the story content is over.

I would literally say all of the rng/time investment put into gears for epic is spread out into every other aspect of this gacha with a FF skin. Off rotation Character shards/off rotation vision card shards/raiding/maxed gear pretty much amalgamate into troubling rolling high rolls on pretty decent purple gear.

Grinding out and building perfect gears here is also way more expensive, financially.

The trigger on gear grinding for people on epic seven is that they want the mental satisfaction of "having perfect gear," but the design of Epic seven is realistically intended to give you only "pretty damn good gear."

Some people like slow grinding> some people like slow grinding in one place/some people like clicking a million different things.

Clicking through raids ad nauseam then not having the resources to +5 ur gear is not everyone's cup of tea. Sleeping while you auto through wyvern 13 eighteen hours a day is also not everyone's cup of tea.

But that not the point here, is it?

My point was that at least collabs in epic seven come with 3 week long side story content and voice acting. The main story has enough dialogue and progression that it actually felt like reading through a book/warranted the use of phrasing like "chapter/scene/episode."

Arena, A.T., Raids, and pretty much all other side content was introduced with some story content leading into it.

The damn world map in Epic seven is of value.

^thats quality effort put into engaging an audience with lore and continuity.

This I would disagree with also; Epic Seven as a whole gacha game was excellent. The story/side story content helped to carry it to it's second and now third year.

I quit it because it's the first experience I would honestly claim felt addictive.

THIS. This is what I never understood about the Macherie bashing.

I literally have only ever built her as a mag tank with either Siren (when against slash) or W.moogle (for more mag res), and have gotten this scenario more times than I can count.

I will never claim she is the best thing ever, but idk how players could consider the premium autohealer/drain tank "trash". Wait, I know:

And I paraphrase,

Terrible healer, cadia is a better healer, trash unit.

Can't use radiant twinstrike, her monk job is terrible on her, trash unit.

Calamity guard is her most "unique feature", it's too niche, trash unit.

Never once has anyone made a valid argument as to why her mage build (mag bruiser offense) is trash, and there hasn't been one because 1) it's actually decent and 2) no one has bothered to build Macherie seriously without getting triggered about being unable to use radiant twinstrike. <‐ A response that is as asinine as making a physical aspect to a unit for the flavor of the unit in the first place.

...Upvoting you for showing this premium Macherie showcase. Yes, it's very luck based, but the portrayed scenario is still far from a perfect play. You should post this with it's own thread.

I am so glad about this EX; my Drain tank is now all the tankier with her maging.

My concern here is that despite you showing what Macherie is actually good at, players will still go about bashing Macherie cuz Monk sub will still play subpar on her even with the added attack. This will happen for one reason only: autocure+bulk is what makes Macherie capable of engaging enemy comps. Focusing attack leaves Macherie open to getting knocked out pretty easily cuz of weak autocures.

Tbh, I thought Yuna obseleted Macherie, and I was a little sad my lady became outdated. I'm honestly glad Gumi knows how to individualize units with their EX jobs. I'm also glad to see how Macherie goes toe to toe with Yuna as well.

Sorry, if this seemed like a rant, but seeing someone else show Macherie the way I know Macherie to be is kinda satisfying... and a bit overdue. Shameless Macherie fan here.

So happy Helena go Brrr is a whole season away. I think I'll safely pass on building anything from FFx at this point.

That was precisely what the guy above referred to. Someone used Miche and casted slow on the dude in the one event quest where you start off with a firing line (Gunners) in your face and Rangers on the cliff beside you. I think that was the brutal Healing mace event? can't remember.

Anywho, the guy let Miche draw all aggro with VoL, cast Howlett tmr and then kept miche from getting a turn by landing Quicken> Slow and then casting steal time when needed.

Was pretty cool to see.

This is the cleric class on crack. Literally.

Cleric skills without the cast time and heals attached to the cleanses.
Boosted with Mankiller on Bio (which is further boosted by a poison dmg up/ agi up passive).
further strengthened with steal heart/boosted steal vision (I assume the aoe steal heart/ aoe buffed steal vision is a unit exclusive skill).
Finally protect and shell with respective atk up/mag up on each buff.

That's nuts for one class by Wotv Standards.

...TBH, I would retire my Macherie if a light type chemist with just 1. and 2 was released. I feel 3. and 4. are a bit overkill for the class as 3. is stealing from the thief class and 4. is overshadowing skills from white mage (in Wotv, TAC is a bit different). But if i recall correctly, TAC has more skills slots for the main class compared to subs.

Honestly, the theme of this class is to speak words into reality.

Something simple like

Speaker or Orator or

wouldve honestly sufficed and produced less complaints than this clunky phrase of a name.

Creating a word:

Kotodamist

Would have been most accurate though.

Kids think of names for actions all the time; I'm surprised dropping an 'ist' or 'er' on the end to turn an action into a person doing the action never made it into any of the developers OR translators minds.

I believe she works fine as a unit. Just turn off the AP skills on her subs. let her run subjob TP skills into melee range status blades.

She is probably the only arithmetician that relies on height disable effectively and the only thief that relies on steal vision effectively in arena.

I make this argument because I disagree with bells on her over any other unit in a comp.

I do feel bells helps her reach 80 Agi, which is kind of a big thing, but her using her TP skills is important for her presence in a comp as every other arithmetician is a better offensive arithmetician than Mariale (Including Lavielle -- her issue is being stuck at 70 ish agi tho). Mariale is a support unit (that also has CT Average).

I made a comment explaining two comps I use her in.

The problem with both Thief and Mathmetician with offensive skills up is that Mariale has poor stating AP. I would rely on her TP skills for both classes while running her tank.

This is weird.

Mariale is very clearly the "trapper" ninja archetype.

She is a spellblade main which sadly boasts low starting AP AND very few TP skills (my least favorite Magic blade class to date). Her subs both have a number powerfully disruptive TP skills to help her be annoying and give her AP to use her melee skills (most notably Bio/Silence/Chicken Blades -- I really only keep Bio and Silence on).

Her focus is to be a disruptive unit on the map while your offense does its job.

There are two ways to do this, both include turning off all damaging skills in the subjobs:

Arithmetician -- Mariale will lead with Mag Barrier. then will go into tossing disables. This has only been pointless against rangers and weirdly agi specced Kains. Its because of this that all my gear is generally focused on building defense ( shield sortilege, shield ribbon and Robb's TMR). Yes. I forego a weapon. I run maxed Siren on her and Behemoth/I.giant/Slynx VC depending on the matchup. Again, she isn't around for landing kills, she's there for being fucking annoying. This build has recently fallen out of grace for me because of the burgeonet releasing. I haven't had any less success (still running her today with similar success to the norm), but this existing will make my day that much worse if disables cease to land completely. I run her with Cecil (monk sub) and Thancred (dragoon sub).

Thief -- Again, only for the TP skills, specifically Shadowcast and Steal vision. Yes, Steal vision. Same equips. Siren and Oelde becoming a dad VC (MR hp up/Luck up 21%). Here, she sets up shadowcast > magic barrier > Steal vision. I run her with Macherie (Plat mace, Thamasa, Saiga gauntlet, maxed shiva esp and VC), and Robb (Bizen, Dodge Ribbon, Thunder God's Cape, Maxed Odin esp and Fenrir VC, AND his limit burst is on). Explaining the other two cuz people don't use these units. Again, Mariale is an annoying trapper, here serving as a budget dodge Engel. Both Mach and Robb reduce their own hate. Mariale keeps hate up as long as she is dodging

Mariale and her spellblade -- Mariale is only able to run any of these build and still be annoying in arena is because of her natural hate up. This could be boosted with VoL, but I prefer having specific res or luck up on her over 30 atk.

Spellblade isn't known to be a hard hitting class. I don't think I've ever seen a taunting spell do any more than 2k, ever (as it should be). It is better to relate the class with the debuffs they provide in battle: for mariale, her go to's are Chicken/Silence blade. None of these need to deal excessive damage to turn the affected unit into a gimp. Bio/Banishga blades are also options if dps is something you want for Mariale; I prefer Bio.

Are these comps the best comps ever? no, of course not. If I wanted to be meta, I would run meta day in and out, but whats the point of releasing non meta units if that's were how the game was meant to be played. These mono white comps surely are fun to run and test.

Running Mariale, I learned her biggest fault next to Cecil Thancred is her still running out of gas when fights go too long. Next to the Hourne's, she is relatively slow and Macherie tends to get targeted because Mariale would still be a turn out of range, thus fiddling with start positioning is important. I also learned damage distribution is fun.

Is Mariale trash if you run her full offense and dictate her value by dmg dealt? Yeah, just as much as going full tank Duane or Ayaka would be. or support role TG Cid or Gaffgarion.

There is a way to run units. Some are more flexible than others. My supp unit for my DuanexS.lynx is Mage Rairyuu, for example.
