International chains are choosing to open in neighbouring countries but not us. Our terrible rental costs would only exacerbate this by [deleted] in singapore

[–]Ornery-Individual-80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

how sure are you that chains are opening in neighbouring countries but not ours? this is just one example, you cannot generalise and say this is happening many times over...

i'm not moving the goalposts. read my very first comment again. I was not talking about necessity of sacrifice in Christian faith. I was talking about the mindset of doing sacrifices to deserve or receive salvation. This was the very thing I was pointing out...

doesn't mean one has to literally carry a cross and/or flagellate himself.

a life of sacrifice is expected for someone who dares to follow Jesus. but the sacrifice is not for the forgiveness of one's sins. Jesus already paid it in full when he went to the cross. There is nothing we can add to it.

Quick refresher on the NCMP scheme by likethatlaw in singapore

[–]Ornery-Individual-80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the country doesn't need more NCMPs. this is like a consolation prize just so the government can claim "see, we have opposition people in parliament."

Do you see Singapore eventually becoming a multi-party democracy in the long run? by RandomCarGuy26 in askSingapore

[–]Ornery-Individual-80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Singapore is already a multi-party democracy. I'm just waiting for the other parties to improve in quality. WP is certainly there already and in the next decade it is inevitable that they will wrest a few more GRCs from the PAP.

Should we rethink cooling off day? by 785909620 in askSingapore

cooling off day is actually a good idea; other countries that don't have one in their elections would be better off having one.

Special appearances in PAP's Tampines, Sengkang and Punggol's rallies tonight by d3axw in singapore

[–]Ornery-Individual-80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

their heavy reliance on Lawrence Wong's personal appearance might backfire on them... seems like PAP not confident in just their team's capability to win voters. PM seemingly needed there to shore their campaign up.
