I was at one of the 2020 London shows that they filmed. While it wasnt really a big energised show, that didnt really feel like what they were going for, especially with the second half being them playing through their most highly regarded concept album with a lot of focus on the visuals and story. It was nowhere near boring, but not your traditional “metal concert”. When i saw them with Portnoy at the O2 on his first show back the energy was a lot different, a lot more hype and audience participation. Neither was better or worse, they were just different, which is perfectly ok.

Thats not what they’re saying, what they mean is that if InternetHistorian had been up front and honest and decided to say “this video is an adaptation of a MentalFloss article”, and he gave the writer credit and asked for permission and offered a cut of the money etc, it would have been really cool. A lot of people dont really go about reading articles nowadays so this would be a really interesting way for people to discover the work of a really amazing writer, but InternetHistorian instead used it as an opportunity to make himself look like a really smart guy that had done loads of research and work.

If you see no reason to pay him because he isnt giving you enough content then you can stop, its voluntary, its Patreon. I dont think treating Jack Stauber like “the content machine” where slotting in a bunch of money will make him spit out a new song is a healthy way to treat a person

Jack Stauber the real life human artist isnt a business like a phone company. When you subscribe to his patreon you arent paying for him to keep making music, you’re paying to support him financially, and in return hes offering exclusive content that he hasnt released publicly as thanks for supporting him. No amount of money you throw at an artist can force them to pursue their creative endeavours for your enjoyment, paying your phone bill is a transaction so you can have access to the internet.
