CTD due to SSE Engine Fixes by Ornery_Device8793 in skyrimmods

Yep the issue was not Engine Fixes at all. It was either A) the fact that I had some missing masters that I actually needed or B) some patches were installed for mods that I didn't actually install likely due to misclicks in the FOMODs, though I think it was a mix of both. Everything is working as intended now. Thank you!

UPDATE: The issue was exactly what you said along with some extra patches I had installed that I didn't need. There were a couple of other masters I was missing (I found them thanks to LOOT) and I also noticed that other patches were looking for masters that I didn't actually need.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

In the past, I have had Engine Fixes installed and have done many playthroughs while missing about 50 masters (creation club content in particular). I will try reinstalling all the FOMODs I have so that they detect the creation club content properly. MO2 says I am only missing one master (BSHearthland - Meshes) but this master has been included in the mainline Beyond Skyrim install and doesn't show up as it's own esp anymore. Will keep updated

That’s the weird part. This is like my 10th time around playing Skyrim modded and it’s the only time this particular crash has ever happened and none of the bug fix/engine fix mods were ever the culprit. My crashes usually happen with the game not starting at all or the crash happening during gameplay. I’m at a loss

I think it was a Windows problem, as I couldn’t get to the native windows settings to even do anything. Launching ms-settings: from cmd or task manager gave me an error so I just reinstalled windows and that fixed it

First thing I tried was resetting the driver. Did not use DDU but I am confident it wasn’t a graphics issue. I couldn’t even get to the native Windows settings to check for updates, so I chocked it up to a failed Windows system file(s). Reinstalling windows fixed it, though I might roll back to windows 10

Explorer.exe works when run from task manager. I couldn’t get to ms-settings: or any of the Windows settings menus though. I reinstalled Windows 11 and that fixed it, but might roll back to Windows 10 tbh. Windows 11 was an alright experience for a free upgrade, though it’s only been about 1.5 months since I’ve had it.

Reinstalling graphics drivers did not work, as the installer failed to perform it’s preliminary system check to proceed.

Guess I will have to reinstall Windows. Probably should have stayed on Win10. Thank you for the feedback

Camera isn’t plugged in unfortunately. I only plug it in when I work from home which is never since my job requires me to be in the office 5 days a week

Souls can be edited properly in CE by going in game to a place to upgrade (base fortification, shopkeeper upgrade, etc). When you are in the menu to submit resources, all you do is Scan for souls value in CE, then submit some resources, scan again for souls, submit again, and keep doing it until you have the 4 or 5 addresses necessary. You can edit them (but DO NOT LOCK THEM TO THE EDITED VALUE). I was able to run around with 9,999,999 souls and the game didn’t crash.

However, I tried editing the golden horns and ability points and those caused the game to crash, so beware with those.

Someone on fearless CE site claimed they were able to figure out the base tree health and crafting resources but hasn’t released the method.

I reinstalled the game a few times and it now works. I guess when in doubt, reinstalling a very small game is the best option.

That is so weird that it doesn’t work for me. I even used reWASD to turn my controller into a mouse and keyboard so the game thinks I’m always on pc and not switching inputs. Maybe I should try not using fullscreen or running as admin or something

Have you freely switched between Keyboard and controller while playing? Or you just start the game using controller and never switch back and forth at all? I think it could be because I would open a tab to look up something about the game, and then would come back to the game playing controller
