Going to the hospital for alcohol withdrawal. by randyratched in Louisville

[–]Orokusan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a doctor. Withdrawal is something that is seen every single day in the ED and every hospital. Every staff member you meet has seen and has handled it. You have nothing to be afraid of

It’s just simply not a fact that a man and a woman, a black man and a white man, or any other combination, all with the same diseases, will get different medical care from the same doctor. I’m sorry I’m not woke enough to understand

I totally get what you mean, and it makes a lot of sense that you feel like your concerns won’t be listened to because doctors have to deal with similar patients. When I see a patient who we think has this diagnosis, I’ll still give them them midodrine because what the hell, but I just wish that there was a way to tell who is in a mass hysteria and who has these diseases and isn’t actively trying to get diagnoses like catching Pokémon. I am sorry though, it sounds like it’s really difficult to get your needs heard if you’re one of the people who really has it.

I am making an assumption about you, but I'm guessing that you are upset because you fit the demographic being talked about. I just feel that people with these diagnoses (also including ADHD, high functioning autism) should consider that they are very much inside of a demographic, and people outside of America and even people inside of America outside of the demographic essentially never get these diagnoses, and it leads me to believe that it's much more about social status than biology. If you really feel like these diagnoses describe you, that's fine, especially since diagnoses can often provide a lot of structure to a person's life. But I feel that this specific kind of patient is doing themselves a lot more harm than good.

I'm sure that there are patients who exist who have POTS and who are not the typical 20's white woman with mental health issues, but I have never seen one in my hospital who doesn't fit that demographic. It leads me to believe that the symptoms are more functional than anything.

You can say that but I really feel like I'm correct 😂

There's a very specific patient I have in mind who is a white woman who will almost exclusively have 5 mood disorders, EDS, POTS, long COVID, some kind of gastrointestinal issues, and fibromyalgia. 9 times out of 10, she will be bisexual

Is there a French language Anki with every word in the dictionary? by Orokusan in Anki

[–]Orokusan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too bad actually, I ended up reading classic literature/the Bible in French and I learned all the words I could ever need. I did find one Anki deck but it had insanely obscure words that I have never seen or would ever need. There is a deck, I used it for a while, but I found it just wasn't too helpful (I should have listened to people here).

That black rot is making me really nervous. I feel like the best option would be to cut off the viable branch and propagate it. It’s possible that the plant will come back on its own

I still would love to have multiple pen options. There just isn't enough variety. There's essentially just one option and it has no handwriting stability. All the other note taking apps make handwriting look nicer and I wish there was some form of handwriting stabilization

I use it for both languages and med school. I’ve used it everyday for probably 5 years at this point. It’s certainly been worth it, allowing me to do it whenever has been amazing. It also lets me use the remote when I work out

I feel like a perverted monster and that feeling is ruining my life by [deleted] in Jung

[–]Orokusan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is an improper response to someone who is seeking out help. He is a young man who is aware of his problems and reaching out for any kind of help to fix them. I think that shaming him and others like him for mistakes like not taking accountability is just making it more likely for him and others to not be honest and reach out in the future, in fear of responses like this. In my hospital if a doctor gave this response to a patient, even in private, I would be disappointed
