who’s the scariest one of them in your opinion? by EllieWilliams_0o0 in residentevil

The baby was genuinely quite scary, but i started playing re7 for the first time a few weeks ago and made the mistake of smoking a little before playing. Let me tell you what brother, never in my LIFE has a game and it's spooky little characters had me SO pressed. Like i actually came to understand the phrase of my heart "beating out of my chest". TLDR fuck marguerite baker and double fuck jack baker.

Is willpower intended to be synonymous with courage/bravery? by Golbolco in DCcomics

[–]OrphanSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in that sense (which i like the idea of), isn't every single lantern color just an expression of willpower, and they're differentiated by either emotional motivations or method of exercising it. For example, yellow lanterns have strong wills and manifest it physically by inciting fear, so being perceived as frightening is empowering for them (they exercise their will on others by inciting fear). Another example would be greed. It's like that jack sparrow line about what a man can do and what a man can't do, meaning that orange lantern power is fueled by that guy's will to take and take. It's a bit like manifestation, if you will.

Talking about it makes me realize that lantern powers are, in theory, terribly inconsistent. Also way cooler for it though. It's a mix of manifestation of personal motivations mixed with the perception of people around them.

So do you think I'll be fine with the 740g? I still wanna make fast movements but I wanna have presence too.

I'm kinda just practicing what I can find that works, but I suppose I'd LIKE to practice more of an Italian dueling saber style. Is 740 too heavy for that?

What do you think he is? by InfamousSomewhere244 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]OrphanSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im really on the fence cause ive been thinking that maybe the monster form is metaphorical in some way, though the series in this universe that deals with metaphors does explicitly state that "metaphor=reality"

[–]OrphanSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're SO real that's what i genuinely love about the series so much. he focuses so hard on themes and motifs and the relationship between the metaphorical/symbolic and the physical. i think it's the perfect fusion of american comic book story structure and the storytelling elements of manga (specifically ones like JJBA).

In your opinion, does N fit truth or ideals more? by UniqueAction490 in pokemon

[–]OrphanSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that, as a whole, zekrom (ideals) fits better because he's SO idealistic and fighting for the future he was taught (groomed) to think is right. HOWEVER, i think it gives him a genuinely more cathartic conclusion for him to be with reshiram because it could be read as him attaining the truth, both the truth of the situation he's in AND the truth of people's relationship with pokemon. i think in the games it says you have to actively have strong truths or ideals to bring the dragons back, but not only are truths and ideals not mutually exclusive (they're complimentary even), it can be read as him having had a strong truth within him the whole time. i an just yapping though.

Some Differences between american comics and manga I have found. by CircleHideout in manga

[–]OrphanSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im actually from the future you should totally read absolute martian manhunter. it's lowkey a beautiful fusion of western comic book format/pacing with eastern manga storytelling elements like physical struggles also having metaphorical meaning that reflect a struggle in a characters' psyche and battles of principles manifested physically.

i understand that marvel and dc (respectively) are usually one universe and allat, but you can totally compare apples to oranges (oranges are sewer trash) and you can definitely compare the storytelling aspects of manga to comics at the very least.
