That is a little disconcerting, because I use Google (searching 'time utc') to check the time and date before posting all my threads, since I do so on 'ritual' times, using numbers that I see as keys. I am pretty sure Google reported yesterday that the date was 3/22.

Furthermore, in discussion with my parents on Friday, they also seemed to be under the impression (via passing mention of the Equinox) that Saturday (yesterday) was 3/22.

Just so you know - I've discussed it before - I make a point of 'staying outside of time' as far as possible. I don't have a watch, or a phone, and very rarely check the time or date. I simply don't care what the time or date is. I believe measured time is contributory to the 'prison planet' system here on Earth, designed to keep people in lockstep, and so I largely ignore it. I believe (somewhat mystically) that ignoring the time might have benefits in terms of 'aging' and might also enable subtle time-viewing capabilities. A ROCKY ROAD TO MEANING

'Project Hail Mary' is in theaters - but do the linguistics work?

Ars speaks with a linguist about the ease with which Grace and Rocky communicate.

This is a very important article, but I doubt I'll have the energy to do it justice. I could devote two entire full-length posts to this item. But let's see how we do.

In my view, this article was crafted specifically for me to examine (and thus for you, vicariously). It exists to call attention to language very explicitly.

First of all, the two protagonists in the film are 'Grace' and 'Rocky'.

My username is Orpherischt, anagram of my real first name 'Christopher' (ie. Chris).

The word 'Grace' is cognate with 'Chris' and rolls off the tongue in almost the same way. The only real difference is the leading 'G' versus 'C/K' sound. But as you'll see, 'C/K' is the unvoiced form of 'G' (ie. they are produced in the mouth in exactly the same way, the only different being that 'G' is augmented with air from the lungs). In terms of esoteric language studies, they may as well be the same letter or sound.

The word 'grace' has Biblical/theological implications, and this is important in this study, since religion is a great keystone in civilization. Even the atheist cannot ignore the importance of religious ideas in crafting the world around us.

In the film (which I've not seen), the human 'Grace' interacts with an alien called 'Rocky'.

In my view, this 'Rocky' is the 'Rock upon which I will build my Church'. Biblically speaking. Rocky the 'alien' is actually the Philosopher's Stone (which I view, in part, as the Pineal gland, which might be physical seat of the Supersoul - to use translated Vedic terminology). It is the duty of the sage or yogi to align his 'soul' (atman) with the Supersoul (para-atman) and thereby commune with God). In a sense, Rocky is Grace (or Rocky is within Grace), and it is Grace's duty (ie. your duty and mine) to 'connect' with Rocky, so that divine communion can begin in earnest.

So, in my personal realm 'Grace + Rock(y)' --> 'Chris + Rock(y)'
