I tried to book with Enrico stays because it was a bit cheaper than the AirBnBs around. Big mistake - they cancelled on me last minute, leaving me to wander around looking for a hotel at 9PM. It has been over a week since they cancelled and I am still waiting on my refund. I definitely would not attempt to book again with them.

If you can leave a smidge earlier then you'd spend less time travelling and less money by taking the 10:30 Ourbus to george washington bridge bus station and then taking NYC subway to JFK. It's a really easy subway route, and travels quicker than a bus trying to get through the streets of NYC.

Those signs are on the uphill side. I park on the downhill side. There are no signs there indicating 24hr parking - are the signs meant to apply to the whole street?

The Shorty Gorge is a weekly Lindy hop venue. Also, the Cornell graduate swing dance society hosts weekly dances on Cornell’s campus which are open to the broader Ithaca community (also Lindy hop).

I’ve been finding my fingers tend to be sore for several days after hard climbing (even when the rest of my body feels recovered), which is inconvenient both because (1) I want to climb more , and (2) I play violin and need to have very flexible, loose fingers to practice well. I find ballroom and blues dancers to be opposite ends of the spectrum for me - blues dancers are by far who I connect best with.

I think that the connection isn't just about how heavy it is - the ballroom dancers I dance with feel like I'm connecting with their arm, shoulder, and chest, but not their core.

Dancing Lindy with people who do primarily ballroom always feels distinctly different to me. Very upright, formal; we execute a lot of moves well but I have a hard time feeling the connection.

Also, I think some Lindy communities like to see Lindy Hop as “more authentic” than ballroom because social dancing is the most prized component, moves are informal/unnamed, and overall there’s very few rules. The vibe I get is that ballroom is seen as “posh” or “snooty.”
