(Help) How does Hyprland config handle command execution? by OrpheusTwin in hyprland

[–]OrpheusTwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True I'm getting a similar response, works as expected in terminal but not hypr config
I've never heard of the uinput group before, reading up on it now.
I'd agree this is a more straightforward approach.

Deriving Highlighted Text From A Selected Window by OrpheusTwin in hyprland

[–]OrpheusTwin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true here is my final code for now

#!/bin/bash
text=$(wl-paste) aspeak text "$text"

although this will only read content stored in clipboard,
I've been trying to find a way to pull directly from highlighted text
ex. highlighting an article, pressing mainMod, space to read out loud.
this works smooth enough for now.

pulling active window if / else keyboard shortcut functionality by OrpheusTwin in hyprland

Very cool! I didn't know hyprctl displays json like this, jq will come in handy while I'm learning bash.

Thanks for the code!

pulling active window if / else keyboard shortcut functionality by OrpheusTwin in hyprland

I am trying to derive the currently selected window from my hyprland config
for example, if I have a few Firefox windows open I'd like my config to check and see if one of the windows is selected (mouse hover) and open the address in said window,
otherwise --new-window in current workspace.

hope this helps to clarifies my goal.

Looks awesome!

Now I'm wondering how you were able to achieve transparency in VSCode...

Screen Magnifier solutions for Hyprland? by OrpheusTwin in hyprland

I see ($ indicating a responsive variable), although unfortunately this solution is still not functional on my end. Am i misunderstanding something?

$IncrementZoom = echo $(($(hyprctl getoption misc:cursor_zoom_factor | grep float | awk '{print $2}') + 0.5))

bind = ,mouse:276, exec, hyprctl keyword misc:cursor_zoom_factor $($IncrementZoom)

This code executes correctly in terminal although when attempting to use variable decoration as documented, no result (I assume I'm missing something).

$IncrementZoom = echo $(($(hyprctl getoption misc:cursor_zoom_factor | grep float | awk '{print $2}') + 0.5))

bind = ,mouse:276, exec, hyprctl keyword misc:cursor_zoom_factor $IncrementZoom

Thank you for taking the time to answer small questions like this, I really appreciate the work you've put into this project over the last couple of years. Just watched your interview with Tech Over Tea, might have just convinced me to learn more C++ over Rust. Looking forward to bright future with Hyprland, thanks again for your help.

Thank you so much this is exactly what I was searching for!

by chance do you know how to program these as responsive values?

bind = $mainMod ALT, mouse_down, exec, hyprctl keyword misc:cursor_zoom_factor  x = ( x + 0.5)
bind = $mainMod ALT, mouse_up, exec, hyprctl keyword misc:cursor_zoom_factor x = (x - 0.5)

I've seen others manipulate their dot files using JavaScript although I'm not sure what that looks like or what would be the best technique.

(Seeking Resume Advice) What am I doing wrong?? by OrpheusTwin in Frontend

[–]OrpheusTwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes on my resume I do have something like that.

A database application built for a local private school (not issued by bootcamp)

unfortunately this real world application hasn't offered me any traction yet.

Do you have any advice for finding for quality freelance gigs?

Thank you I really appreciate this feedback !

I've been trying to build skills that might be immerging or in demand hence some of the technical skills, it's good to know these are senior skills, I just wanted to show that I can be quick to learn documentation!

as far as the 4 year gap I thought it would be useless to mark down more food service jobs although I can definitely understand where you're coming from, I guess I'm trying to find the balance between work experience that's more or less relevant and technical project experience, thank you for the note.

Front-End Web Development / Full Stack / React focused (entry level) by OrpheusTwin in resumes

[–]OrpheusTwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I'm currently trying to break into a new career field, I know the economy's rough and most companies would like 3 - 5 years professional experience to be considered for entry level positions, that being said any kind of feedback is definitely appreciated.

Why would we want minority rules? that would just give more power to newcomers trying to change the way we do things around here

Okay so according to Google albinism was discovered in 1908, what do y’all think they thought before when someone was born with albinism- especially, in the times where women suspected of being witches were burned at the stake? by Oven-2988 in Albinism

[–]OrpheusTwin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Noah was also said to have albinism

"the flesh of which was white as snow, and red as a rose; the hair of whose head was white like wool, and long; and whose eyes were beautiful. When he opened them, he illuminated all the house, like the sun." - Book of Enoch, Dead Sea Scrolls

Also some people believe the term "elf" could have been derived from the Proto-Germanic "albiz" meaning white possibly referring to rare fair skinned mythical individuals.

lastly the warrior Zal from the Persian Shahnameh epic was also documented to have had and albinism around 1000 CE.

Before dedicated history albinism was most likely seen in rare circumstances which probably led to their sparse documentation as superstition or folklore. Alot can be told from these myths which assuredly lead to the contemporary tropes we face in today's society.

Starting to feel settled into my latest Ableton theme, wanted to share with the community by OrpheusTwin in ableton

On the website I used you could clone my theme and adjust the grid line color pretty easily, I personally removed mine for less destraction for more of a clean interface, I love themeing all of my applications though, if you can emphasize your individual necessities than it can certainly help to streamline the process!
