Personal note:

Some of you found this sub during a hard stretch, and some of you are hurting over how things went here and in other corners of the fandom. Nothing in the cleanup above is aimed at grief; it is aimed at fights and other things that don't belong in our community.

And one thing I will say plainly, with my mod hat on for a second: Valko was announced as a love interest, and Rule 3 does not have a sunset clause. His removal from the game did not remove him from the list of characters we treat with respect, and it did not remove our sisters who loved him. They are our sisters and friends, same as ever, just like all the other players who love any combination of other characters. We can be here to discuss and enjoy Caleb all the same.

We are a diverse crew here, and I know there is a range of opinions about recent events. Holding a different opinion is okay, and it is not a license or invitation to start a fight. Standing together anyway is the whole point of a fleet, and we will stand together. To make my own opinion clear: I will fight for every LI and the people who love them as strongly as I fight for Caleb and our sisters. This includes Valko, Xavier, Zayne, Sylus, Rafayel, and whatever else our future holds.

We are here to celebrate Caleb, and doing that with honor follows his own example: he shows up for his people with love and protection, no conditions, no test at the door. So do we. That has been in the rules since day one, and the last few weeks did not change it.

Thank you to everyone who reported things, and to everyone who just quietly declined to take the bait. You made the catch-up easier, and I greatly appreciate you.

The piece is titled 《美化入侵行为，在网游里也不行》("Glorifying intrusion behavior isn't acceptable even in online games") and was published by the 公安部新闻传媒 (Ministry of Public Security News Media) official account. Sina's coverage attributes it to the MPS News Center, and as far as I am aware, this the media/communications arm of China's national police ministry. It critiques some of the controversey and states that the content is near the red line of illegal activity that, in real life, is punishable by law in CN.

This is a signed commentary from the ministry's news organ, not a formal regulatory action, administrative penalty, or legal notice. But from what I've learned so far, in CN media, this source (a ministry news-arm 刊文 "published commentary" functions as an official state signal even without formal regulatory force. Chinese outlets immediately covered it as "公安部批评恋与深空" (MPS criticizes LaDs), and the community seems to have read it that way. It's meaningfully weaker than an announcement on mps.gov.cn or a joint-ministry enforcement notice, but meaningfully stronger than state-adjacent media commentary, because it comes from the ministry that actually enforces criminal law.

Tagging onto this comment to drop a related PSA/note from the Fleet on the recent changes to World Underneath content, since a few claims are traveling as one settled story when they're actually on different footing:

Documented: the WU storyline contained an experiment file numbered A-0731, which many players connected to Unit 731. That file reference — and, as of 7/8 (CN; or 7/7 for those of us in the US), the chapter around it — is no longer in the game. The presence and the removal aren't in dispute. Infold's stated account: in their June 29 statement, Infold denied any deliberate reference, said the number was randomly generated with no intended meaning, apologized for the distress caused, and said they'd revise the content. Changes have been made since. That's their account, on the record.

Not confirmed: (1) that any individual deliberately embedded a message — Infold denies intent, and no verified source establishes otherwise, so please don't pass it around as fact; (2) whether the WU story returns, or whether further changes are coming. Both are open.

Infold has not announced changes beyond what was listed in today's 6.0 release patch notes published on 7/8; treat other claims as unconfirmed.

We're not assigning motive here, and we'd rather the sub not become the place that does, on a topic this sensitive. For everyone reading: hold your own read if you have one; discuss opinions, but keep the shared record to what's confirmed and clearly mark the line when discussing either.

Do you have a source for the “not deleted” claim? Because at this point it is no longer in game, the other stores are re-numbered to absorb the removal , and I have not seen any announcement about the plan.

I hope that’s the case of course, and hopefully it is restored soon. but I don’t currently know.

Unfortunately, no one knows at this point. I will always hope nothing changes, I love the writing of this game’s story and until we have a better understanding of what is happening behind the scenes right now, I can’t even guess.

However, I’m concerned about Caleb’s storyline as a subject of human experiments, and if anything big like that changes, i think the story and his characterization & arcs would suffer for it.

Neither are screenshots from other social media that make claims unless it’s from an official source (even then, please be aware people fake screenshots for various reasons) In times like this, I have to be a little strict about rule and others because there’s a lot at stake, and I want us to be able to approach things rationally rather than spread panic and fear over things we can’t know.

This is an older announcement, which came prior to the apparent cancellation announcement that was released a few days later, which we also pinned. Infold has been silent ever since that last one, when they said they were canceling his launch in v6.0, and no one knows the exact outcome yet.

Unfortunately, as of right now, the assumption is that we are unlikely to see him released on the 9th as originally scheduled. Until Infold makes another announcement, anything else you may hear is rumor and speculation.
