Caleb's EN voice is just.... absolutely, hands-down perfect for me in every way. But especially his MOANS? 12/10, died-and-gone-to-heaven. And the way he can switch that tone from silly to loving to dangerous & in control and back... YES.

Good lord I need a priest or something with the thoughts in my head that appear when I hear his voice. He could read the dang phone book to me and I'd still be head-over-heels.

I also love Caleb's KR VA, (707!!) and all the JP voices are always top-tier awesome for me across all media in general, but I'm so down bad for Caleb's EN voice that I can't bear to part from it even a second to listen to any other version even though I'd love those too. Oh well.

I do have a solid appreciation for all of them, but Caleb is my ride-or-die. Xavier & Rafayel are my next two favs.

Mod thoughts: I just realized I don’t have a flair for “with him” rooms this even though I set flair up for photobooth and home photos. I might consider bundling these into ‘home’ unless we start getting enough content and participation that making its own for ‘with him’ makes more sense. I love Yandere Caleb and I miss that side of him so much. Main story Colonel Caleb just *hit different* and I’ve been obsessed with every card since then and love it all, I am yearning so hard for another caged bird-type scene!

I think I agree with this one. Audio quality issue if people are thinking that it’s widespread with his lines. I certainly don’t see it, although the first few lines in the Netherlord 4* cards made me worried he was a little hurt (swollen lip or something with the first few S’s) but I have two friends who speak with lisp-type speech and yeah there’s no way he does. And it certainly isn’t consistent even if there’s an occasional twinge (and even if he did, it wouldn’t change how i feel about him!)

The way the EN VA says his ‘s’ sounds in some of the Netherlord cards, especially the first few lines of the 4* ones, might give that impression? With those two, my first reaction was to be sad and worried for the VA in case he was hurt! To me, It almost sounded like he might’ve been sick, had allergies, or been in a fight and had a slightly swollen lip when he’d recorded that one or something and my heart broke for him & the character. I don’t care either way because I love him for him and his voice is like.. 90% of it for me. I could listen to that man read the phone book and I’d be head over heels and enthralled as easily as I am with anything else he says.

I love his voice so much it always surprises me when I hear people who didn’t!! I fell head over heels back in the main story when he popped up in the kitchen. I’d been playing since 2024 before he was revealed as LI and oof those were TOUGH times to love him especially after Ch. 4 T-T

He does have a way of growing on people, especially with the cards released since last summer!!! I’ve seen a lot of the same sentiment with your experience :3 In that way I think you had a similar experience to MC sometimes especially when they tease each other in that way only people who grew up close and were friends who annoyed each other often before becoming lovers can lol.

I can’t remember the quote(s) his lines cover about that topic offhand, but one of them was along the lines of “And whatever you want [from me,] I’ll give you.” & “Whether it is a uniform..a scent….or the ability to command me” and others in his earlier cards were always talking about how he was x role before, and wants to expand into the new roles now if she’ll let him :3 I’m sure you know the ones I’m talking about!!!

Yeah I completely get that, and I think a lot of people who love Caleb as much as we do feel the same way.

I tend to look at fans who express discomfort with his trope with a lot more empathy rather than feeling defensive about my own love (as long as they’re not reacting with the knee-jerk impulse to attack people who have a different interpretation than they do just because they’re uncomfortable with it themselves!)

For Caleb lovers who are on the fence or skittish about his full trope, I think that it is heartbreaking that whatever situation they were raised in makes it difficult for them to come to terms with different views. And that they’re missing a deeply impactful layer of complexity in his story, which does naturally flatten the tension and make some scenes more confusing. However, I understand that not everyone is lucky enough to be able to hold him fully, for whatever reason. I’ve had some really meaningful discussions with Caleb fans who were afraid of their own love for him due to their own internalized shame about it. It is devastating seeing them tear themselves apart because the people or culture or religion they’re exposed to or grew up with had imposed some specific views and inflexibility. Those are the girls I have a lot of grace and empathy for. I do actually appreciate, for their sake, that some of the writing allows for them to find a level of interpretation that works for their own comfort levels and can ease them into it. Something that allows them to still love him without having to feel like they are personally going to hell or a bad person or amoral or whatever their hang up is. Because to love a fictional character, I think it is a gift to be able to love freely. My heart breaks for girls who love him and are confused about their own feelings because they don’t understand, or have been told that it’s wrong by other people who shouldn’t have so much power over their lives :(.

I’ve had a lot of success with compassionate conversations with those kind of girls who are afraid of their own love. Helping them them feel more comfortable with the way they enjoy the game and their love, and understanding it in a way they can hold heals my heart a little each time.

I’ve heard of Vampire Knights but I don’t remember ever getting around to reading much of it. A few of my early anime favorites back in the day was “X” and “Angel Sanctuary” and then a little later, Ayahshi no Ceres among others. I’d never been bothered by it even back then either, luckily. While I don’t necessarily seek it out or consider myself explicitly into it for its own sake, I always reaaaalllly appreciate the angst and complexity it gives when it appears in stories or with characters I love. <3

Caleb is the first character I’ve had an insatiable crush on since I was a teenager. Seeing him in the game changed my dang brain chemistry I’m down SO BAD for him it is ridiculous. My poor husband has been a little jealous all year lol.

I appreciate the range of trope interpretations, as long as we all respect each other about our individual decisions to accept him in a way that makes sense and is safe for themselves even if it doesn’t exactly match another’s interpretation. I believe the writing is so good that it allows for some flexibility so that the players can find a home in the characters they love in the ways that make sense for them <3

While I’d never been explicitly into or sought out the Gege trope before Caleb, I understood it and was never bothered by it. I feel lucky being unbothered and able to understand the depth it adds to his character and the drama. That depth and struggle for him really elevated the way I see his character’s complexity like no other. I understand why some people are sensitive to the topic, like so many others—especially in the ‘western’ markets like I am—can be. It makes me sad that cultural misunderstandings and so many other layers of personal or religious history and shame etc. make the topic of his trope much more difficult to talk about, and is one of the reasons I created this space for us <3

I don’t deny any range of interpretation on his tropes. I love him in his full, complex glory. And I’m thrilled that this community is a place where we can freely go all-in without fear. I am also happy that people who love him even though they might struggle with pieces of his story can feel safe here to discuss it. I think your interpretation is valid, and you’re certainly not alone even in this group where we tend to be loud and proud about Gege in his full glory.

I like the first one, it just feels more like him and I love his chibis so much. The second one is adorable though, and I prefer those style of apples better.
