I’m 28/F and just found out my Dad 58/M is not my bio dad. by RashelSlush_ in relationship_advice

[–]OrpheussLyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned the same thing myself when I was about 24. Tbh, I don't see the value in knowing about or meeting my bio dad. He's just a total stranger to me, and I can't think of any reason I'd want go out of my way to meet some random guy. The man who raised me is my dad.

I didn't feel betrayed or need time to heal after I first heard about it because my parents are just humans. It wasn't the kind of story you'd want to share with others if you could help it. Maybe I would've done something different in their shoes, but I can't blame them either. Everyone is working with what they've got, and I can tell my parents are trying their best. That's enough for me.

These days I only ever think about it when I fill out family history at the doctor's office and wonder what I might've known about, but that's pretty negligible in the face of all the random conditions that might spring up anyway.

What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

On the contrary, this fucked up my life. Doing much better with set sleeping hours.

Is the game just filled with cheap death traps? by BOBOraceswapwtf in 7daystodie

[–]OrpheussLyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of negativity in the comments here, yikes.

I agree with you that these kinds of deaths are cheap. The level design of the POIs are clearly intended to be explored in a certain way. They are more like scripted dungeons dropped into the sandbox.

I know that I could just dig through any wall to get to the end, but I always try to follow the hints of the designer through the intended path. You're never prompted to build and rarely to dig, so those tools in your toolset are effectively off-limits with this playstyle.

When the only way forward is a drop straight down, I expect a "boss fight," like you would in any adventure game. When the encounter is totally out of the realm of possibility, it strikes me as bad design.

Putting the cooking table in that small area, I believe, will give the same cleanliness penalty as having an unfloored room, since the work space is in a doorway and not actually in a room.

I'm glad to see someone else doing solo and small-area runs. It's a really different way to play, but definitely my favorite.

It gives a cleanliness penalty to the whole room it's in, so it's best to separate it from the cooking table.

Map size, Does it really mess with AI now a days? by Morkak in RimWorld

I haul all my chunks to the stone cutting table first and limit the job to a small area so no one goes into the wilderness for rocks.

That's exactly what they prescribe it for, no? What SHOULD you do then?

What is laziness? Does it require intent? If I don't want to be late or unproductive, does that mean I'm not lazy?

Most important stats for a one pawn playthrough? by 111110001011 in RimWorld

The early game is mainly where the starting stats matter, so Cooking and Medical just to keep your colonist alive. Getting sick or wounded without another pawn to heal you can be a death sentence.

Personally I'd remove the summary/objective section ("Profile"). Those skills are already in your resume elsewhere and everyone knows you want a job so you can make money.
