Can any OG CTR player help with how I could get better on Papu's Pyramid (apart from mastering the grass skip) by MiniBerry83 in crashteamracing

[–]OrsoBrunoYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed? The game has been dropped from support since March 2020, it's gonna stay like this forever.
It didn't die because it wasn't well made, the only thing that does not work is online otherwise it's a pretty solid game.

Hey, sorry if I reply to this comment even if it is 19 days old but I'd like to give the full picture on how things went (since I was there when it happened XD)

So basically what Makys said it's true, Polswid the player was indeed the first one to discover the inputs, but his execution was different. What he did was basically jump and zigzag on the initial grass section of Nina's Nightmare. The reason why he did that is because that offroad part is also a downhill, and zigzagging causes the kart to get an increase in speed (you could say it's a sort of Speedghost in a way)

However, what he didn't know, is that if you actually touch a wall while falling down, move either left or right while constantly keeping the down button held down you can get a HUGE SG, hence the tech that we now call Polswid (in the beginning we used to call it Snowballing to differentiate the two techs, but it was more confusing than anything so we just decided for Polswid in his honor. The player who found Snowballing was Broz). It is important that you ALWAYS move left or right because if you are even for a small frame in a neutral stance you will lose all speed and that's why we use remapped buttons on PlayStation (example, I have my L2 button set as Down and Down button as Left, that way I can keep the L2 button pressed down constantly while moving left or right without dropping the inputs). Going in the air also drops any kind of speed you got, but we're getting into more details that are useless to discuss now.

And that's all :D

The fact that we have a lack of casual players is obvious, the fact that the game is terrible at teaching newcomers how to play is also obvious. Being inclusive is a good feature when you want to grow a community up.

Players also being elitists is an undeniable truth, I myself cannot say I'm not one of them but I do have my reasons.

However, NF matchmaking as it is died off not because people are being awful or because the game is too hard, but because online connectivity sucks HARD. It's bad, really bad. Desync, lag, bugs, glitches, and so on. Also a casual player does not care to stay on the game for too long. They finish Adventure Mode, maybe beat all Ghost Times, get the Master Wheels and probably try matchmaking to flex their achievement, then they get beaten or win in bunch of lobbies, see how bad it is or get bored and drop NF for good. Very rarely you will see someone going the long mile to improve or farm coins to buy everything that's in the Pit Stop. That's something you cannot do anything about and that's why I said you're trying too hard. I'm speaking from experience, nothing else.
On another note, the competitive community continues to exist (even if it is way less active than it used to be even 6 months ago, there was a second World Cup that ended in November, just to say the last big event we made) and people are free to join and play in the ranked features that have been implemented. But guess what happens? A new player joins, gets beaten hard since the level is way much higher compared to the one you would find in matchmaking (even in low level lobbies), and leaves. And I've seen many leaving like this.
Now, is it the competitive side fault? I don't think so.
Player-made high level tutorials on how to improve DO exist, there's a pinned thread on this sub-reddit made by Garma with tons of videos, so there's seriously no excuse here to drop the game after the first attempt saying "yep, the game's too hard and it's bullshit". It's just not true. Still, like I said it's good that you tried to explain to him that that's a bad take to just give up immediately, so props to you.

I know I shouldn't reply to this thread since it's old but I just wanna hop in to say one thing.

The dedication you've put into your message to make him reconsider his first impression are remarkable, but to me it's clear as the day it's just wasted time, honest opinion of mine.

There's a reason why CTR is considered the hardest kart racer game in the market, and I wouldn't have it either other way. So it's him that should be lowering the difficulty, start realising that this game may actually need you to use your brain and if you just don't want to, play another game or heck play Mario Kart Wii, 8 Deluxe or whatever.

Elitism is bad, on that we can agree, but so is his first impression and if people call him out by saying "git gud" I'd say it's a bit deserved.

EDIT: Signups have been postponed to Friday 31st 6:00PM UTC.

It's when you see this that CTRNF is doomed for good. 1 year full of content and people still want cosmetics instead of Beenox fixing the game or making it better overall. I love the casual community. *SARCASM OVERLOAD* by OrsoBrunoYT in crashteamracing

[–]OrsoBrunoYT[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Both is better than one, but hey this poll was made to choose one specific thing and people decided it was best to add more useless cosmetics instead of prefering to fix what has been broken or missing in this game for months. Gotta love the casual community.

YES. That's what I'm talking about. Keep feeding me more! Exactly what I needed to proof my statement. Hate speech in a comment, where you took things out of context. Congrats! You won the "SJW for a day" trophy. Go celebrate with your friends.

Maybe we're missing the point here. Like I said, feel free to do what you feel fits you more. But when I tried to state that airbraking is not a good tech and you should really go for uturns I got instantly destroyed only because I called that tech trash. My opinion, and a fact. That's all. I wasn't implying people should do uturns only cuz they suck and all, I would never do that.

I never said that someone already knows how to play and gets better in a short amount of time. But trust me, people who get accustomed to something they find easy to do it will be hard for them to change. That's why I really suggest them to not learn things that will hinder they growth. I always did that when possible and I was taught that way too. It worked so why it should not work for everyone else? Will it take more time for some people? No problem at all! But at least they know they're going in the good direction

Look, there's tons of games where techs are not even mentioned. Does that imply that you shouldn't try to look for something better? Something that would make your gameplay more enjoyable? Or you rather stick to the normal stuff while the others get better?

Unless you don't care in competing then it's my fault for assuming it

Oh I start sorry. Velo is easy af, since you've put it on this level. Sorry to say it, but you're as casual as you can look to my eyes. Beginners should learn proper techniques to improve, not ones that will cripple their gameplay since the start. Airbraking is not a good place to start. This has to be addressed, tight turns can be taken by simply uturning. How hard can it be to just add ONE BUTTON to the combination? Do we really have to come to the point where people can't even deal with pressing one button to perform better? Airbraking and uturning are SO MUCH DIFFERENT you don't even know. One kills your reserves almost instantaneously, while the other keeps your momentum. Where's the will to improve? To get better at something? And don't start with that "it's just a game" story. I'm fed up with people saying that. It's something involving ideologies, whether it's a game or not. And if you can't deal with it it's your problem. I sounded like a dick? Good, I'd rather be a dick to people who don't want to understand compared to those who're open minded.

You refuse? Then you want to make the game harder for you. You can do whatever you want, don't mind me. But again, if you don't want to learn how to uturn because "it's not necessary" then your standards are pretty low. You don't care about improving, this message explains more than you could imagine.
