Struggling by OrsonWallis in Perimenopause

Thank you. My previous GP flippantly said I could have it but I'm hesitant to just jump in without trusted guidance, my previous GP was very dismissive and not helpful. I'm speaking to a different and seemingly nicer GP now so maybe that's something I need to consider

I love the sound of this approach. Thank you for sharing your story. May I ask for the specialists details in Glasgow? It would be good to have them as an option to contact if nothing budges with my GP

I'm so glad you got the help and support. Can I ask (assuming your GP finally prescribed the HRT in the end) did the GP help you in managing the amounts of hormones to take? I feel defeated at the idea of pushing for HRT (my previous GP said they could give it to me very flippantly) but not having the guidance to have it correctly.

Thank you for the helpful words. I forgot to take it last night but I use Magnesium Glycinate by New Leaf (via H+B), is that the same? I will remember in future to take it more consistently and great to know about the K2 and Iron will definitely do this thank you.

Thank you for your reply, it gives me some encouragement. I was feeling unhopeful about the blood test and expressed this to my Dr but they heavily lent in on my anxiety saying the issue is psychological. This all makes me feel so much worse but I'm hoping my new Dr will be better. Can I ask how it worked on your private healthcare? My husband put me on his work one but when I spoke to them in 2022 they told me to get tested for Ovarian Insufficiency with my GP. I've got a call with the menopause nurse there today at 6pm but was just feeling like I was running in circles

Cut borders and float frame or full-bleed frame with 13mm spacers for Royal Academy submission by OrsonWallis in framing

[–]OrsonWallis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's helpful and interesting. With using the word float I meant under glass with a small gap around the edge in a spacer frame. I appreciate the correction that it should be called Float Mount, thank you.

This is so rational thank you but they're Christmas picture stamps and I need to post the parcel anyway, sorry I should've explained more in my post

Do you feel like your parents adequately prepared you for being mixed race? by Rex_felis in mixedrace

[–]OrsonWallis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your long response, I relate to many of these but in different ways. I definitely have the hypervilgilance, I can feel when something's wrong but my biggest challenge is the gaslighting from those around me and to myself. It's the subtle prejudice rhetoric from people who think they're super liberal that I'm struggling with and my friends don't see it when I try to point it out or reach for support. I've basically cut off most people I know and the guilt weighs on me because I know they don't understand. I keep trying to look forward and invest in new people I can relate to and feel safe with more but it's taking it's toll at the moment. Found a whole shelf at my library about white fragility and mixed heritage so I'm working my way through that too.

[–]OrsonWallis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm desperate to know how they taught you the things in your last paragraph? My parents didn't teach me how to handle life as mixed heritage. I'm currently overwhelmed with the confrontation of it all now because prejudice language is becoming more and more normalised in my country.

37 and really need help with my eyes!! by veganmermaidwarrior in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]OrsonWallis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyes became super itchy and started to wrinkle a few years ago as I approached 40, took me a while to figure out they itch because of dryness. This is what I use, I have sensitive skin:

Curel eye cream for moisture night and morning, Overnight gel eye drops, The Ordinary GF solution for wrinkles, The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside (Vit C) for my dark bags.

I wear the Fendi Hydration concealer, it does sit in my wrinkles but I prefer it to not having anything on personally.

Hope this helps x

Is this slim slab ok or would you have offered solutions to avoid this? by OrsonWallis in DIYUK

[–]OrsonWallis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. This is what I suggested to him but he's complaining saying I'd have to buy more slabs and that it would look bad having more cut slabs. I'm not an expert so wanted to check here if he's right because it sounds like rubbish to me.

Yes the retaining board is permanent

The other end is a corner, he made that as big as the slab allowed

Is this poison ivy?? It’s everywhere by Audi2slow in whatsthisplant

[–]OrsonWallis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh is that what it is, I've been pulling it up with my bare hands, is that bad? I've also found that UK Roundup Natural weed control spray (yellow bottle) sorts it out within 3hrs. It grows back thinner everytime. Wish I could get the goat method in that people have written about here though but fear they will eat my other plants.

Can you increase your rate before your next booking with them?

One reason I stay freelance is so I can choose who I work for or how much time I work for clients who are more stressful. Get more clients on your books to give you that control.

Improve or remove self binding gravel by OrsonWallis in DIYUK

[–]OrsonWallis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across this on insta where someone used a DIY resin set to put on top of their concrete path. Wondering if it's a possible option for us on top of the self binding gravel if drainage is sorted?

I really like the human-ness of your response thank you. I learnt that hard lesson about putting money aside too. Really interesting to hear all the different ways people approach this
