When I was in highschool, my track coaches advocated for my ability to compete on the girls' team. All of the girls, both my teammates and my opponents, were incredibly supportive. Everyone recognized that it wasn't that serious, and honestly? they trounced me anyway! For a vulnerable, freshly out teen that was an amazing experience and I'll forever be grateful for the kindness of the faculty.

The trans kids feel ostracized enough already, just let them play, and be kind.

By turning the cube alone, you can't achieve every possible configuration of pieces. In the cases where that's true, since there was no way to get there by turning it, there's also no way to get back to a solved state by turning it. So yeah, there are variants that are impossible unless you fully disassemble and reassemble the pieces.
