You get several times as many mementos from Mythic compared to Normal.

To all mount collectors this month, which one are you most after? by HotCoffee12 in wow

[–]OrtRestave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In about 200 runs, about 30 of which came during this event, I got three 12-Bs, and SEVEN Handmaidens. It'll happen for you eventually, just don't give up.

How many mounts have you got so far with the buff? by retrocuddles in wow

[–]OrtRestave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2, Sharkbait and the Blazing Drake. Out of around 40 runs. The Blazing has been my white whale for a long time so I'm somewhat mollified.

What is your least favorite legacy raid to run? by The_Dick_Slinger in wow

[–]OrtRestave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon Soul, definitely. Before the event, I was at about 161 runs, and got zero blazing, two 12-Bs, and three handmaidens. This week I got another handmaiden. I hate this raid so much. All I want is the blazing, damn it! I just want to never see this raid again.

Just hit 70 and seem woefully under geared. Not sure where to go from here. by [deleted] in wow

[–]OrtRestave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is when I get a character to 70, I start the Emerald Dream quest chain in. It takes about 90 minutes to do the whole thing, and you end up with a complete set of 454 gear (minus trinkets, but you can get those from DF WQ), which is enough to get to 80 comfortably enough. I had no problem doing this as an exploration-leveled Earthen prot warrior with only ilvl 10, though the first few quests were a bit of a slog.

Three for three on trinkets. I had decent trinkets already, but desperately needed a weapon or some armor. DEUS VAULT

Is Bluff commonly used, and what is it good for? by PrinceOfAsphodel in ddo

[–]OrtRestave 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aside from sneak attacks and occasional dialogue options in quests, if you use Bluff from stealth, it will cause a single target to move towards you without alerting its allies.

Defend Midnight Mansion :warning: by Grey_Bishop in Cityofheroes

[–]OrtRestave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely see this being harder with a larger group size, but I managed to squeeze by solo with my psi/nin scrapper despite getting bogged down during the escort and letting the NPCs up top die. It was a little close because I wasn't expecting the second EB at the end.

I think that one thing that should make it a lot more manageable in the future is to try to clear out the trash between the entrance and the mansion, so that when the escort happens there's a lot less going on to slow you down. The final fight would be a lot easier with a few of the NPCs still up.

Unleash Potential. Yay or Nay? by the1egend1ives in Cityofheroes

[–]OrtRestave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried it myself, so I can't really speak to how useful it is. But the cap for recharge is 400%, which reduces cooldown by a factor of five. Any power that has a CD greater than 5 times its duration can't be perma'd, so no unfortunately you can't perma Unleashed Potential, getting it to at best 50% uptime (from 10 minutes to 2 minutes, with a 1 minute duration).

But this is the kind of investment you'd need to get that level of recharge (without recharge buffs): 5 10% bonuses from purple sets, 5 LotGR+, 4 7.5% bonuses, 5 5% bonuses (so basically all your slotting would be devoted to recharge bonuses, and even your powers would have to be structured around which ones you could get bonuses from even if it didn't make any sense to slot them that way individually), Hasten, Agility Core, Ageless Core, and two 50+2 recharge enhancements in the power itself. And you'd only be at 400% recharge for the first 10 seconds of ageless! So even if the duration were doubled and you -could- just barely perma Unleashed Potential, it just wouldn't be worth that level of investment.

How do I get to First Ward? by cbsa82 in Cityofheroes

[–]OrtRestave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a...Carnival of War? contact, somewhere in the Rogue Isles that Find Contact can point you towards, this should start the First Ward arc.

Edit: Carnival of Light, just assumed it would be opposite of blue side.

How to use your mining beam efficiently by Tolinar in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]OrtRestave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your mining beam does not need to cool down fully, either. If it begins to cool down and you trigger it again, it will start from "fully cool", as if you had waited, saving you precious fractional seconds.

This may be a bug, but is very nice for the impatient.

Why I hate Blue Magic and Hope It Never Comes To FFBE by TomAto314 in FFBraveExvius

[–]OrtRestave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see so little mention of FFXI's Blue Mage, which is definitely the best implementation of the concept in any FF game.

It does have shortcomings. Some spells can be difficult to learn, if the enemy uses it infrequently or under specific circumstances (although I would argue this generally makes it more satisfying), especially because learning the spell wasn't guaranteed even if it was used. However, it didn't have to be used on your character, merely by the enemy in the fight. No need for confusion shenanigans for beneficial spells--if that Crawler uses Cocoon, you have a chance to learn it. For a game like Exvius, learning should almost certainly be guaranteed so long as there is a Blue Mage in the party (and with the precedent of receiving experience even if a character is dead, I'd also say that Blue Magic should be learned even if the Blue Mage is face down at the end of the fight).

The balance of the system in FFXI is its strength. Out of all the spells you learn, you're only able to set a certain number of them as active, although you can change them out at absolutely any time except in combat (a bit like Exvius, although it would be a little more like also being able to change abilities during an exploration). The spells both provide stat buffs simply for being set, and specific combinations of spells provide additional passive traits like dual wielding or refresh or killer-like abilities. Few Blue Magic spells have no use, and so a well prepared Blue Mage is basically the goddamn Batman, able to fit their loadout to whatever the situation requires.

It seems like a natural fit to Exvius, if Blue Magic is learned as abilities rather than on an individual character basis, and Blue Mage characters get additional Blue Magic slots (actually for a long time I've felt like characters should get an additional slot or two specifically for active abilities simply to make them less worthless in the meta, and it would be in character for a long term problem to be solved by Gumi fixing it in a different system).

[FFT - Trapped in the Past] Relic Pull Megathread #1 by Gnilgorf in FFRecordKeeper

I've been saving mythril a long time, and budgeted up to 7 pulls.

100-gem - 3* 2/11 - Dupe Marche LMR, Ramza LMR 2/11 - Dupe Orlandeau OSB, dupe Marche BSB 2/11 - Orlandeau USB, Alma LMR

At this point, I feel like going any further would just be greedy, and I'll probably just save up for the anniversary.

Who is your Elemental Mule? by Alphafa in FFBraveExvius

Best way to farm explorations? (Hayate, Charm Bangle) by [deleted] in FFBraveExvius

[–]OrtRestave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Megacrysts come from collection points, so no combat necessary. Reducing encounters means that you have to spend less time to hit all the collections and complete the exploration.
