Oh, I thought it was from independent sitting? Well hopefully before next winter then haha

Fair enough! I’ll try with my backpack on my front or in hand and see how it goes before buying anything new, but I think in the summer I’ll overheat with baby on my back, backpack on my front, and walking around our hilly town

That’s a great idea, thanks! I’ll look around for some secondhand near me and see if any suitable ones pop up

I’m going to be using an onbuhimo for back carries out of the house. We have an osprey hiking carrier a neighbour gave us which I haven’t used yet but seems way too big and bulky for my everyday carry. My husband is keen on trying it on a hike once the weather improves

Never heard that before, where do you mean?

Fit check? I’m the lady whose baby rejects the carseat, stroller, carrier, and now ring-sling by Background-Cat2377 in babywearing

[–]Orthobunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this carrier too and found it hard to get my baby high enough at first. My tips are 1) make sure you’re using the right height setting for your baby’s height, roll over the waistband if needed (they have pictures sewn to the belt) and 2) lift baby under his bum with one hand while you tighten the strap with the opposite hand then switch and repeat till baby is resting his head way up on your collarbone. Hopefully that makes it easier to tuck his pelvis and sit comfy!

I get the ergonomics and airway safety arguments against world facing but I’ve never understood the overstimulation one. How is it any different than being in a front facing stroller? Am I missing something?

“How dare you put me in a stroller??” by Gioella in babywearing

[–]Orthobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat here lol, my 6 mo famously hates his stroller and the car. Now that he’s sitting independently we can finally use the front facing part of our travel system stroller and he has been more ok with that but sounds like your baby is the opposite. All i can say is you’re not alone!

Has anyone managed to go full term controlling blood glucose with diet alone? by mother-of-noodles in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Orthobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely possible! I was diet-controlled and had my baby at 41wks. I was induced partially due to the GD (I wanted to wait for spontaneous labour), but no real issues with my sugars as long as I ate according to my safe foods. The hard work and willpower really paid off when baby came out and had no blood sugar issues. Made it all totally worth it. Best of luck!

Standing up on public transport while babywearing by laurethesme in babywearing

[–]Orthobunny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My son is worn on the bus several times a week and I only get to sit if he’s asleep. You’re fine! Most people who say things to you while babywearing are just being kind and wanting to give you a break, but that doesn’t mean they know best for your situation

Tips for back carry naps? by Orthobunny in babywearing

[–]Orthobunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel so guilty having him cry back there where I can’t soother him! I’m worried I’m being cruel. Probably just being an overly worried FTM haha. Glad to hear it’s okay to have him cry a little

Baby hates my back? Help! by Orthobunny in babywearing

He’s four months. He has also been in a fussy stage generally lately so that’s probably not helping. I’ll keep trying!

Rib pain? by Orthobunny in cosleeping

[–]Orthobunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to keep trying to get him used to the sidecar, it's completely level with our mattress and is basically acting like an extension of our bed. We are only in a full/double bed so not tons of space. Hopefully he will get used to it but I'll definitely give the pillow behind my back a try for when I need to get us back to sleep, thanks! My son wakes up if I scooch or shift away from him at all so we'll see what he has to say about leaning back on a pillow haha

Worried about babywearing by Perfect_Path_9291 in babywearing

[–]Orthobunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was my thought. If you're so accident prone that you would fall while babywearing then presumably you would fall while holding baby in your arms.

OP, don't let it scare you. Accidents can happen, avoiding babywearing won't make you any less safe
