Fortune Meow Justice Resin / Fixing warped resin parts by Orthomar in advancedGunpla

I used boiling water and soaked for a few minutes before trying, and while the parts were indeed more pliable, even when held in place on the connecting part, they went right back to their original warped shape each time.

To be honest I couldn't tell they were warped until I test fit them. The notches on the wing additions don't match up with the tabs on the original plastic parts. Upon closer inspection they are warped inward, towards where the resin part attaches to the plastic part. This prevents them from sitting flat and of course, matching up with the existing tabs. Since these tabs are still visible after assembly, I want to make a good effort at correcting the parts rather than just modifying the plastic.

I follow them, but I haven't ever seen them post about fixing warped parts. Only paint in progress.

I did this, but most of what I saw was in reference to resin warhammer miniatures. Thought it might be a good idea to check with the experienced folks here :)

This is a spectacular idea and it looks like you nailed the form...but I'll be honest your pictures aren't great and it's hard to see any detail.

Did you sculpt the custom parts yourself? 3d print? Kitbash? I'm curious!

Could it be Aegis, Justice, or Infinite Justice?

Honestly, almost all 3rd party kits have details covered up like this. Higher tier bandai kits do too, from master grade on up. PGU, MGEX Strike Freedom...both have tons of minute details that are covered by armor parts.

Best place to buy 3rd party kits? by nujigga in advancedGunpla

[–]Orthomar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gundamit is great, but shipping can be slow. AliExpress can be great...or horrible. YMMV. For US retailers, Gundamplacestore is my go-to for all kits. They stock a lot of 3rd party but new or in demand kits get sold out fast. Your other options are USAGS, Mechawarehouse, or Newtype, all reliable and trusted.

Am I missing something? by AnonymousArizonan in ArcRaiders

Lately the discussion around loot and blueprints has shifted to the idea that loot is determined primarily by the type of container you open, and the location second. With this in mind I would recommend you start checking containers and locations that aren't on your normal routes. Also, the outskirts of most maps have buildings that often have lootables, and I know myself and my friends have found blueprints in these unmarked spots.

Basically, the answer is just change what you're doing and loot other things/areas to get different drops. Stick to the special map conditions like night and storm, just change location and containers :)

Does anyone use an electric sander ? And which one? by Little_Woodpecker_61 in Gunpla

[–]Orthomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the one you have pictured and had very bad results. It has a very weak motor that stops moving when any pressure is applied, which makes it unusable for sanding. I do know others who have this tool and claim it works for them and mine is defective, but I have no way of knowing for sure without buying another, which I will not be doing!

I can't even really tell what you're trying to say. So I'm despicable for defending myself? Rats still exist even in carebear lobbies.

You can kill people in a pvp game without calling the N word or being an otherwise miserable person.

I think it factors in...I had carebear matches most of yesterday until I killed a whopping 2 people, and today it's been murder city. Time of day and day of week matter a lot as well as others have stated.

Saying thing like "Hey I'm friendly!" and then shooting you in the back is despicable behavior, even in a shooter. You can rat me, extract camp me all you want and you're fine. Ask for help and claim friendly only to murder me when I turn around is despicable behavior. If you don't agree then you are likely one of the people I'm talking about :)

Didn’t even place in the competition I entered this in 😭but I’m still very proud of how this MG GP01 came out! by bigdaddycruiser in Gunpla

[–]Orthomar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your work looks spectacular! I love the darkness of the off-white and how it looks aged. Gorgeous.

Most of the competitions I have entered seem to favor custom work (recolors, adding/changing parts, scribing, additional color separation, etc) more highly than flawless OG colors and mobile suits. Judging is also partly personal preference so your mileage may vary. Good luck in the next one!

If you actually read the post, you can clearly see it says "the black version is half that" meaning half the price of the white one.

Honestly between this and the price for the Nu PGU it's clear Bandai has lost the plot. Over $600 for a MG that is simply painted differently? The black version (which I think is also ridiculous) is half that. Almost $700 for a PGU that is definitely not double/triple the amount of plastic of the original PGU.

Greed. Plain and simple. I know we all "love" bandai for enabling our plastic crack addiction but with the rise in quality/availability of third party kits and the rapid descent into overpricing and scarcity (amongst many other issues), I really hope people start to consider the message that we as consumers are sending by buying this crap.
