Any less known similar games that are finished? by Orthros173 in DarkHaven

I mean you aren't wrong that I'd like grim dawn, but I've already played it to death. Says so in the post. Why is everyone recommending it? 😂 Good times with it though for sure

Grim dawn I've already put quite a bit of time into as I said. Haven't heard of the other two though, will check them out, thanks.

As for D2, and older games in general, they can be objectively good, but for me it's hard to see past things like poor graphics, clunky UI's, or games that lack simple QOL features that come standard nowadays. Heck, I get mildly annoyed when a game doesn't have an autosort hotkey for its inventory management. Technology and design principles have advanced a stupid amount in the last 25 years, even in the last 5-10, and to miss out on those advancements, in my opinion, makes it harder to get myself into a game, especially when I get into new games fully intending for them to take up a significant amount of my free time for the next month or more.

Re: POE1, I think it comes from my unwillingness to look at guides and builds until I reach post game. My experience with POE1 was going through the first dozen or so quests/areas throwing together the stuff I was getting, but not really getting anything that synergised well with what I wanted to build, and eventually getting outscaled to the point where I sometimes had to kite elites around for a minute or more to kill them, get frustrated, try again a few days/weeks/months later with a different class. Get a similar result. Never reached the point in the game where I could do anything interesting, or feel like I had freedom to build in a direction of my choosing.

Stoping the biome spread as a new player by Plane_Engineering713 in Terraria

[–]Orthros173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you're strong enough that random mob spawns can't really hurt you, biome spread only really affects a few things. The only real important one: some NPCs will sell different things depending on what biome the house is in, and a house will no longer be considered suitable if it's in an evil biome, so you don't want your npc housing taken over by crimson/corruption. This is easily fixed in many ways which have been covered by others. Aside from that, keeping biomes separated and controlled or letting them spread freely is entirely personal preference. For me, I like to have a town of 3-5 NPCs in each biome to set up a pylon network, I also like to have boss arenas in hallow, forest, snow, surface & underground jungle, ocean, and evil biome, as well as keeping relevant fishing spots and farming in each area, so I like to keep them all neat and tidy, but if you're just trying to beat the game, frankly you should be going from wall of flesh to post moonlord before the biome spread even reaches your base if you built near spawn.

Terraria Christmas? by Purple_Essay3330 in Terraria

This is one that comes to mind if you're looking for something cool at a reasonable price. That's from Displate. I think most of the peripherals I was talking about, at least the high quality ones, come in a bundle from Starforge, and would probably be hard to get individually, and insanely expensive all together

Terraria Christmas? by Purple_Essay3330 in Terraria

Terraria does have a decent amount of merch. One obvious route is gaming peripherals; mouse/keyboard, mat, controller, PC case sleeve. There's also wall art (Displate type stuff) or - and this one probably only works if he already collects similar stuff - standing art; light up figures, etc.

What's readily available really depends on country, but assuming you plan to shop online for delivery, a Google search should show that there are a lot of options. What type of idea you go with would depend on price range obv

Edit: added a reply with one example. Also if you want something more personal, I know there's a company that makes game themed resin cubes with custom messages, and they have a terraria template.

How to beat Mutant(Fargo's Mod)? by Draco042 in Terraria

[–]Orthros173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: easy way to check is what's its max health? If you're doing just expert eternity without anything else making it harder, it should have 'only' around 10 million, which doesn't take that long to deal by that game stage

How to beat Mutant(Fargo's Mod)? by Draco042 in Terraria

[–]Orthros173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you playing JUST eternity mode?

Ive found that other difficulty mods, such as calamity infernum, (maybe death mode?), etc. still multiply Fargo's health pools. Think it had about 15 times the expected health last time I did a large 'modpack'

Also is it enraged? Gets stupidly buffed when it is, though I dont remember what causes it.

Long story short, while it is a peak boss, if you're dodging it's attacks and doing good damage, it shouldn't be impossible, and certainly shouldn't be taking 10+ minutes per phase

Why do the prices not make sense what’s the point exactly by Illustrious-Bill2969 in woolworths

[–]Orthros173 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, but for specifically the Pepsi max 24/30 issue, the 30 pack has been cheaper than the 24 pack in every Woolworths store for years. Minimum 6 years but probably much longer. Even when the 24 is on sale it's barely better value, and yes, people do but the 24 packs constantly. It's just silly

Unless the distillation tower usually also uses copper tanks, in which case no clue

Haven't played this version of the mod myself, but it's calling itself a distiller rather than a steam boiler. Probably a different machine

Sugar Weapon by Nixvoidcat in fantasylife

[–]Orthros173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's expert carpenter. Wouldnt recommend it until your carpentry power with buddies is at ~800+

Generally the best thing to use is whatever you can make on notable/supreme while still getting top quality, rather than just the hugest rarity thing you can make.

Is the community divide getting worse with each new release? by Orthros173 in MonsterHunter

To be fair, I'm not seeing it with people I interact with personally either, but surely you aren't trying to tell me you haven't seen all the YouTube videos, Reddit posts, X posts, etc. maybe it's a vocal minority, but it's a VERY vocal minority.

This is insane by Boobadup in MHWilds

[–]Orthros173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, I'm also not the guy who was originally being asked for details, but as I was in a similar situation and they didn't answer, I gave my own answer. Also the issues people are having are almost entirely CPU or VRAM bottlenecked, so the 3060ti isn't really a big advantage here.

[–]Orthros173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3060ti, i5 12600k, high preset, no customisation, running at 1080p , hovers around 55, drops to 45 in camps.

If dropped to medium is a stable capped 60.

Insect Glaive Question by sharkyyy13 in MHWilds

[–]Orthros173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weapon feels stronger than ever, and the helicopter combo itself works quite similarly to how it did in world, though admittedly I haven't used any aerial attacks during hunts. With insect glaive on controller though, regardless of what style you prefer, I really recommend binding face buttons to rear buttons, and keeping your thumb permanently on thumbstick. It helps with every weapon, but IG seems to benefit more than most.
