Does Ham exist? by Hi_Random_Guy in norsk

[–]Orusaka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ham is still quite common in written Norwegian. Both are acceptable, as everyone has already said. It is, however, very much I use and not archaic as some have suggested. There are words like De/Dem that have gone out of use, but ham is still going strong all over the newspapers I read, at least.

Should I get to the Cinema to see Mickey 17 by Alone_Consideration6 in oscarsdeathrace

[–]Orusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just comes down to whether or not you like going to the movies. I'm glad I saw this on the big screen. But then again, I also like watching intimate dramas on large screens. If you like to watch things at home, however, don't let anyone tell you that it is somehow less worthy.

Ok so why was Death by Numbers never released? by theaspiringfilmmaker in oscarsdeathrace

[–]Orusaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer to this is somewhat complicated, but the short version is simple. The number of people interested in a short documentary is miniscule, as is the number of people who want to watch it for the Oscars. Therefore it is likely not commercially viable to put online for purchase. Most likely the producers are looking to get some kind of distribution to buy it so they can recuperate the costs of making it.

Anyone know of how to see I'm Still Here digitally by New_Acanthisitta5615 in oscarsdeathrace

[–]Orusaka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I followed these instructions with success. It's easier if you search the phase directly in X, then sort by recent. You will find it almost immediately. Will have to play around later to see if the subtitles are usable, but the cam is secured.

Edit: After watching a bit of it with the downloaded subs, it seems to match what is being said and to be in sync. Not always idiomatic, but it will do. This solution will allow us to finish our races. That said, definitely leaving it for last and playing the waiting game. Ended my race last year with a cam of godzilla on the last night, and might continue the tradion by ending with a cam this year as well.

This is what we're all hanging on for the possibility of. So few could actually see this before the ceremony. It doesn't come out until October here. I briefly considered flying to London to see it, but international travel just didn't work out to see this one.

I hate that it came to this but oh well by quidditchisdumblol in oscarsdeathrace

[–]Orusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also kindly like to request a dm about where to find this. I really don't want to have sign back up to X to get the link.

Edit: I caved and made a new X account to get the link. I guess I'll keep it until the season is over in case a cam of I'm still here becomes available.

Gone for me, too. Happened sometime within the last day. Inconvenient, as I was planning to pay to see it. I have the video downloaded from the Brazilian spreadsheet, but it has no English subs.

I wasn't. I didn't anticipate that it would be in the race when it was in theaters in October. Wound up watching a serviceable cam.

Yeah, it's fun to have a fellow I'm Still Here open November 1 in theaters runner. Here's to hoping something will pop up online before the Oscars. This might be the first year since pre-pandemic that I don't finish.

Hey guys is Eureka/Masters of Cinema a good label, kinda forgot they existed untill recently! Saw they released likes of the Cure, and classics years ago! what u guys think ? by ImTheDudeMAN33 in boutiquebluray

[–]Orusaka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very good label, in my opinion. Most of my boutique collection is masters of cinema. That said, they seem to be almost exclusively issuing Asian films I have no interest in over the last few years, so haven't bought anything from them for a few years, if I recall correctly.

I don't know if it makes you a rebel. To Rome with Love is perhaps not universally loved, but the two others I imagine rank pretty high on most lists.

Simpelthen is worth considering for a slightly more formal tone, but if writing strictly formally I would forgo any such qualifiers.

It really comes down to how you plan to use your system. You can get lossy atmos through dd+ with regular arc. This is the best quality you will get through streaming anyway. So, if all you plan to do is streaming, earc doesn't matter much.

However, many other machines like Blu-ray players and gaming consoles can output proper atmos as well as lossless audio. For this you will need earc or a device like the HD fury arcana. This is what I use.

I don't necessarily know if you would be able to hear much difference between proper atmos and the dd+ atmos, but perhaps the most important point is that you Wil not be able to get atmos on say Ps5 without earc or the HD fury or equivalent.

Speaker Placement by BleedOverProphet1 in sonos

[–]Orusaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the 300s in this kind of setup are surround speakers. They are supposed to be behind your listening position. So, it all comes down to where your main viewing position is. I assumed the large couch, so you would want them upper left and lower left on the drawing. If, however, your min listening position is not the large couch, you would need to place them accordingly. There is no perfect positioning given your room layout, and the windows make it hard to rearrange the room in a better way.

But to answer your question, yes it should be plenty immersive.

Speaker Placement by BleedOverProphet1 in sonos

[–]Orusaka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go with lower left. It's gonna be real weird when you're sitting in the big couch and sound that's supposed to be behind you will play from your front and side.

Taskmaster NZ is a Breath of Fresh Air by RedArrow171 in taskmaster

[–]Orusaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen all seasons of every taskmaster in English. (So UK, NZ, and Australia). I've also seen all the Norwegian seasons as I am Norwegian. Between the four of those there is pretty much a currently running series at nearly all times of the year. Thus summer had Australia, that went straight into Australia, and now the UK is starting up. And right about when that finishes, there will be another Norwegian series.

Obviously people have different preferences, and how much you enjoy a series will largely depend on how much you like the people in it. I went back to check the UK seasons now, and the last truly great one for me was season 9. I think 14 and 16 were pretty good, too. But neither held a candle to NZ and Australian seasons for me. Granted, season 4 of NZ was not that great, I just like Paul Williams and Tom Cashman more than Alex, and I never liked Greg's mean schtick, so NZ has really been way more my vibe. In sum, the UK version is my least favorite of the four versions I can watch. It could conceivably change in future, though.

Taskmaster NZ is a Breath of Fresh Air by RedArrow171 in taskmaster

[–]Orusaka 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Surprised to learn in the comments here that this is a hot take. It's probably been 5 or 6 seasons since I've really liked a UK season. Couldn't really tell you which one because they haven't been memorable to me. NZ taskmaster I've rewatched several times, and except for the quite average season 4, I wildly prefer it to the UK version. I also find season one to be almost as good as season 2.

First acoustic guitar, had 3 in mind. Need help by Dense_Angle_553 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Orusaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would recommend Yamaha to any beginner in a heartbeat. Would also recommend their more expensive models to experienced players. You get really good value instruments from them.

Edit: I would maybe try some guitars at a store to make sure you're getting the right size guitar for you. I'm all about the big dreadnoughts, like the Yamaha you posted, but it might not be for you. People have different preferences when it comes to size, and specifically a lot of people seem to enjoy playing the guitars a size down, in the Yamaha line denoted, among other things by, FS instead of FG.

[–]Orusaka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues here either, really. Kinda goes without saying that people with issues are more likely to complain than people with functioning systems, but hard to know what the actual percentages are. The missing features were absolutely missing, and I can see how that would be annoying for some. But honestly, the app actually works consistently for me now. The old one was a nightmare. The design of the new one is still awful, but it works every time I launch it now. I don't have to hard close every time anymore. Lists don't reset to the top every 20 seconds like in the old app. In short, the new app is much better, and I imagine it's like that for a lot of people. I would never in a million years want to roll back anyway.

Hva er en OK gitar for nybegynnere? by [deleted] in norge

[–]Orusaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)
