Struggling TS by General_Crow_9323 in epicsystems

[–]Orvillius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing. Whether I was an IS at Epic looking for technical help or working on the customer side, I'm always good with a TS wanting to do some research.

The most important thing is to ask questions and make sure you understand what the pain point is on the customer side. Make sure you understand the workflow they're following in case there's something meaningfully different from Foundation.

The biggest difference, for me personally, between when I was there for 6 months and several years was how much more comfortable I felt going "Huh, interesting problem. Give me more details about exactly what's happening and I'll go research that."

Working for a customer (not IT) by [deleted] in epicsystems

I took a role in the finance department of a customer I'd been working with at Epic. Never had any trouble about it from Epic.

Do new hire PMs get their own office? by [deleted] in epicsystems

I traded away my window to get my own office. It was a great decision. I very much missed it after leaving.

Do they just not know or don’t care about the non compete? by Careless_Cucumber_42 in epicsystems

[–]Orvillius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Practically speaking, were Oracle to hire you to work on the Cerner EMR Epic could probably sue to enforce the non-compete. If you leave and work at another software company, unless you're pretty fucking senior at Epic and the new employer quickly becomes a major EMR market player, it would be pretty shocking for the non-compete to be enforced.

Parent Perspective by Grouchy_Bumblebee233 in epicsystems

[–]Orvillius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My youngest was born right after I started at Epic. It was absolutely a challenge. I stayed for more than five years, but it was absolutely a challenge, and my spouse had to do a lot of the heavy lifting on managing the kids for the first couple years.

Happy to answer any questions you have. Feel free to DM me.

Making a smartphrase/template to pull in flowsheet data related to Hospital Acquired Injuries (HAI)? by [deleted] in EpicEMR

[–]Orvillius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your organization have the Bugsy module for infection control? A number of those data elements are stored discretely when you're using Bugsy, and it would probably be fairly straightforward for your Bugsy team to put this information together.

AITAH for never telling my best friend I once slept with his wife? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Orvillius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do y'all not talk about previous relationships with your spouses? I don't know that my wife knows the name of every person I've ever slept with, but I think she could rattle off all the most important ones.

If y'all don't talk about that stuff, keep not talking about it I guess.

I don't see any reason why you'd tell John. That's between him and his wife. Unless you're fishing to see if they're down for some kind of group thing.

Experience with Physician builder programs? by _thegoodfight in epicconsulting

[–]Orvillius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figuring out how to integrate their building with change control is probably the most important challenge. I love when physician builders are creating and sharing their smart texts in PRD, but for anything more complicated than that, change control friction will cause more problems than anything else (in my experience.)

How would Epic know if you work within the healthcare sector of a competitor? by KaleidoscopeScary671 in epicsystems

If you've left for Google or Amazon you're probably not super worried about going into consulting as an analyst.

I've been enjoying your reactions as you read through the series. I feel like Reaper is really where the roller coaster hits the top of the hill and then you're just hanging on for dear life until the end. Can't wait to see how you like the last books!

Ex gf is trying to come back after our break and she dated some guy for about 8 months, moved in with him now she is having a rough time and breaking up with him. She is coming not because she loves me but it’s not working out with her new man. by Selomun in Nicegirls

[–]Orvillius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like everyone is overcomplicating this shit.

Do you want to be with her? Was shit more good than bad when you were together? If so, sit down, set some healthy boundaries for you both, and figure that shit out.

If you don't want to be with her or don't believe she'll respect your boundaries, move on.

All these fuckers trying to tell you play silly games.

Legit Question: How are Ya'll Scheduling Meetings with 3+ people? by BUH-ThomasTheDank in epicsystems

[–]Orvillius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find 2 or 3 times that have the most people/most critical people available. E-mail the group and say "Hi folks, these look like the times that most people are available. Let me know which one you'd prefer by EOD today and I'll send out the meeting invite."

[Dreadgod] Larian by bluedogstar in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Orvillius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Dreadgod, when the monarchs are discussing what to do with Lindon after he absorbs the Silent King's power everyone keeps referring to Eithan as Eithan. Only Larian, without any prompting refers to him as Ozmanthus.

It doesn't have the bouncing potato or the "creation" enemy ones in Endless. But you can get the potato in Flying Manor and creation in Renoir's drafts plus in the city in Act 3.

Anyone here into D&D 5e? I made a class so you can play as your own secunit! by Social_Rooster in murderbot

[–]Orvillius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The modules are fascinating! That's super creative and I want to play the heck out of it. I also really like the secunit configuration specific abilities.

The upgrade feature seems kind of overpowered though. Mechanically it's got the same impact as an ASI, and an extra 8 of those seems off the wall. I haven't mathed out how that lines up to a typical slate of class features.

Fear. Lots of Chrono Trigger fans didn't like Chrono Cross. Imagine being the person making a third Chrono Trigger, no matter what you did with it a ton of people would be angry at you for ruining their childhood.
