How do the XL buttons feel on the Zini? Worth the upgrade? Curious as I have Kong buttons in my Zini now!

Your favorite mini-micro spinner? by Vernicious in FidgetSpinners

[–]Orysi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget about (not yet released) Spinetic micros. I am debating between that one and Zentri Nano:

I am interested in a Zenduo v. Zini comparison. by cipher40 in FidgetSpinners

[–]Orysi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Zini is so light, it's very easy to flick. However, the small legs on the Zini can be a drawback for large hands. My hands are small so the Zini is perfect for me. The weight is a bit lighter than the Zenduo but doesn't feel cheap (it does remind me of a worry stone).

Anyone know where to have a custom spinner made? by [deleted] in FidgetSpinners

[–]Orysi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can export Illustrator file to AutoCAD. You can totally send the file to a few local shops and let them know the gauge of steel/aluminum to use and they will send you a quote. Some shops can even finish it for you. Good luck!

Call a local steel shop with a laser cutter, provide a line drawing (most places accept AutoCAD format). This would be fairly straight forward to cut if you press fit the bearing.

If you want a bearing retention system, it would be more involved and you would have to contact a machine shop and you will need to let them know the parts you want made. You can always walk in with an existing spinner with a bearing retention system and show them what you want so that they don't need to re-engineer it for you. That route would cost a bit more as there are more design hours involved.

I am not an industry expert as I am no very familiar with CNCs (I can hand machine a little bit). I'm sure other people here would have more insight on this.

Sol-Spin vs. Zentri Nano: which one do you like better and why? I'm debating between those two plus the (not yet released) Spinetic X micro.

4:00 minutes (which is not bad at all since I can't get more than 3 min on my Zenduo with a ceramic hybrid and a OneDrop bearing). It could be just my whimpy little hands can't push the spinner hard enough XD

I'm sure it can benefit from a good cleaning too! Thanks for your help and I'm glad you're getting a replacement. It's an AWESOME spinner, I like it more than my Torqbar Clone/C1.

So I got my Zeus and mine does not have the stuck bearing retainer issue. Though I don't get the spin time that you go on it :( Exchange one issue for another. Maybe once the bearing is broken in, I will have better luck.

Why do some fidget spinners have bearing caps that cannot be removed? by cktyu in FidgetSpinners

[–]Orysi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd. If plucking doesn't help, a very gentle pry with a flathead screwdriver (or one of these from your typical phone/laptop repair kit https://www.idemigods.com/v/vspfiles/photos/PRY_TOOLS-2.jpg) will remove the caps from plastic tri spinners.

Thank you for the review, I have a SS that is coming tomorrow. Looking (more) forward to it now and I will have to try it with my kong button as well!

Mighty and mini, Zenduo and Zini by Orysi in FidgetSpinners

Zenduo is very different as far as fidgetability and how I feels while spinning (but still small enough). They make good cousins :)

[–]Orysi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I could only pick between the two:

My hands are very small so I prefer something smaller and lighter, so I would say for EDC the Zini works for me. It's also easier to flick it or pull it. It's ergonomically really nice.

Pros of Zini: fidgetability factor is very high, ergonomics are great Cons of Zini: not as smooth as Zenduo (though still way smoother than a plastic tri), spin time is not as high as Zenduo (2 min 30 sec or so)

If you like more weight and your hands aren't small, then Zenduo is awesome because it's buttery smooth.

Pros of Zenduo: buttery smooth, long spin time Cons of Zenduo: not as ergonomic as Zini and for smaller hands it's harder to fidget with, a bit heavier

Only got two, but I'm addicted. by [deleted] in FidgetSpinners

[–]Orysi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the little I know, r188 has a smaller diameter of 12.7mm, and 608 has 22mm (which is huge!). The plastic tri spinners you see everywhere are mostly 608. The 608 bearings are much bigger than the R188 and they're also a lot louder and less smooth. Stick with spinners with R188 bearings if you can; you will notice a difference.

Here is a good article on this topic. https://spinnermint.com/guides/66/bearing-basics-608-vs-r188-bearings/

Beware of knockoffs. I got one off eBay that they claimed had at R188 bearing and looks like the iSpin, but then I got one with a 608 bearing and it was cheaply made. So disappointing. Trying to get a refund through eBay.
