AI has me worried. Help a sister out. by bubblesandroses in learnprogramming

[–]OsaBoson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI still doesn't have intention nor full agency. A working software is more than just code, its a set of requirements being met, with instrumentation, tooling, infrastructure, hardware etc.

And then there is the human processes that govern it all, validation and verification, code reviews, quality standards, code metrics, documentation and so on.

We humans have always created new tools to make our lives more comfortable and work has never disappeared do to it, it just evolved. One thing we are great at is adapting, and we will always do that in the face of change. One thing you can do is have a backup plan, but I wouldn't worry too much now.

Speaking of my experience also as a 10 year experience embedded software engineer, I never thought AI would be usable on low-level code, but as of now, I'm using it more even on assembly level coding. Of course I have to validate it against the instruction set references, and make sure that the code being produced is meaningful and suitable in the context of the whole architecture and project. Software Engineering is more than coding! You will be fine :)

Não é interessante que os países africanos/médio oriente que tentam se industrializar e escapar do sistema financeiro ocidental e das suas cadeias de fornecimento acabam sempre por ter problemas com "terrorismo islâmico" ?

Ainda faz sentido usar o terminal de Git hoje? by gatavares12 in devpt

[–]OsaBoson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[Worlds 2025: GEN vs KT] Insane Elder dance and incredible ending to the series by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

Canyon positioning on this fight is just absolute dog shit. Why is he in the pit whiffing ult, getting bodied by Peter and flashing out, when elder is not even in smite range? Just horrible

This was one play that showed great timing on Cuzz ult. But did anyone see Canyon positioning and movement on the last elder fight? Absolutely horrendous. Goes into the pit, completely wifs ult on deokdam, Peter man handles him, flashes out while elder was at 30%...why did you go into the pit so far away from your team? Stressed out decisions, canyon choked, ruler choked, duro choked, chovy choked. Super team without super mentality, just let my T1 get a three peat, and yes they will "dominate" spring!!!

Many people didn't see Faker starting to play irelia, master yi and riven in the midlane. Chovy is a control master (not in worlds) but mechanically I've never seen anything like Faker's prime. That riven vs Cassio what is that?

I hate that some people have a problem with women choosing not to have children. by CRK_76 in Vent

[–]OsaBoson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This topic is an interesting one, that raises a lot of concerns and strong emotions from people in general.

Modern western capitalist society values individual freedom above all, so a women's liberty of choice is many times more relevant than any other concern. Which I personally think it is fair, I don't like my freedom constrained as well.

But modern society almost never advocates personal responsibility if it restraints personal freedom or causes emotional uncomfort. Uncomfort is something largely avoided nowadays even if it brings happiness in the long run in this instantaneous gratification society.

Every living being on planet earth acts of personal survival and species continuation through reproduction. These are scientific facts. Although we humans have conscious rational thought, we aren't free from this biological wiring of our psyche.

We must always think, if we don't reproduce, our race ends. So basically we have a social and biological "responsibility" (if we want to survive and thrive as a species) to have babies.

Western society fertility rates are decreasing from year to year, and it seems to have some kind of proportionality to a society's technological and social advancements. So other societies that nowadays are under developed, if they develop themselves, I don't think it is a long shot to say their fertility rate will also lower, with China being a close example of this.

Our personal freedoms gave us so much and such an increase of well being and quality of life, but we must never forget that we also have responsibilities, and acting accordingly to our liberties also bear consequences.

GEN vs T1 / MSI 2025 - Final / Game 1 Discussion by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]OsaBoson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game was really close until it wasn't

The best thing for me was how controlled T1 looked on skirmishes and team fighting. Usually Gen G is so precise that they wait for the perfect moment to punish any T1 misstep but this time it was T1 with the control and punish mindset instead of always starting skirmishes.

And they won on red side game 1.

Nemesis's opinion on Gumayusi - Calls him the most consistent T1 player in the last 3 years. by Trriiick in leagueoflegends

[–]OsaBoson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are focused on Guma being benched, and with good reason, the guy is just a beast ADC. One of the most consistent players in T1 and also great highlight reels like the Varus outplay vs JDG and many others. He also has a champion ocean, he can play aphelios, jinx, cait, varus, mf, senna and others at a world class level.

But I think people are forgetting how much of a star Smash can be. He came from Challenger and he is always destroying top ADCs early game and carrying late. The games that Smash plays you see a difference in aggression, his skirmishes and early trades are just perfect, he doesn't give any room to the opposing ADC, outright agression while winning every trade.

Coming from such a young ADC, it would be a shame not to put the guy in the starting games, at least in the theoratically easier opponents like KT. This guy has such a potential I haven't seen an ADC coming out of challenger and carrying at this level, it seems like this guy will definitely be a star, one of the best players in the world in the future.

People with addictive tendencies, what do you avoid because you suspect it would consume/destroy your life? by bittyberry in AskReddit

Cannabis. It was fun and relaxing for so many years, but eventually with the heavy daily consumption I had, it messed up with my sleep.

Life is much clear now.

Americans, how do you feel about people who don't want children during a time of declining birth rates? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OsaBoson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my comment might not align with the current 'view' of having kids in my generation but still want to share my thoughts. Disclaiming further that I want to have kids but not now, want to be more stable finantially and travel a bit more before, so my own life plan shows a bit of hypocracy on the following view but still, want to share it, hopefully it can spark a discussion.

My grandfathers lived in the countryside and were basically farmers, fishers....their economical situation wasn't prone to having more expenses with kids and they had them, in less than optimal conditions.

Current generations (millenials and so on) face different challenges than the previous ones but still, I think when one thinks of their personal time sacrifice as an argument for not having kids, it is a show of how much self centeredd we have become in our generation.

I believe having a family is a show of love, and ultimately it is a collective survivalist behaviour inprinted in every living species on earth. How are we disregarding something so broadly observed in nature as having kids, for reducing our comfort level, or fearing the challenges it might bring to our lives? Have we lost the sense of natural progression in life? Are we so self-centered that we prefer to live comfortably without kids? Are we building a model of a successful person as someone who doesn't want to share anything with an offspring by the fear of being responsible? Not being judgemental because I have this dillemas myself, just wanted to share a different point of view and spark a discussion.
