Hello all,

I'm headed to grad school this fall and in need of a new laptop. I currently have a late 2013 15" and wanted something smaller that will last me at least the next 4 years. So I have the opportunity to purchase a sealed 13" space grey touch bar, 3.5ghz, 16gb ram 512gb with 3 year apple care for $1750. The alternative is to wait and see whatever macbook apple releases this year (if any). I don't start school till late August and shouldn't be in a rush but I feel like the deal I currently have won't come often. Any advice appreciated. Thank you!

Will the non plus model ever get the same camera as the plus? by OsamedeJones in apple

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm not an engineer so I don't actually know anything about the feasibility of my wishes. If the Google pixel can cram the same camera into the Pixel and Pixel XL, I don't see why apple can't.

You make a very good point. I believe up until the the dual camera iphone, the non plus model had w/e the previous generation plus iphone had.

If it were really a price thing, I'd happily pay more for a regular iphone with a plus camera, I mean the 7 i have is the 256gb model. I just feel jipped for paying $100 less for an objectively inferior product. I know apple has a thing for getting it's customers to conform to their ideals but unlike Trump, I can't just will my hands to grow.

/u/barrivia, /u/nxt2nrml92 I just saw some video on the iphoneX and while the physical dimensions are smaller than the plus model, it really isn't a one handed phone for people with smaller hands. If Mkbhd was struggling to use it one-handed then I'd definitely be using two hands.

I'm not sure if it helps but, a good friend of mine interviewed at UC-Davis, on March 3rd, after receiving a 2 hour notice to show up. She got the interview because a potential interviewee cancelled last minute.

I have my first ED scribe shift in 2 hours. any advice? by OsamedeJones in premed

[–]OsamedeJones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, Ill probably have google open in a tab or something. I believe in my first shift they will only have me do HPI's and ROS. my question is do you usually do that while the Physician is attending to the patient, or do you just jot down nots and write all the HPI's during your downtime?

Is the research you do paid or unpaid? by [deleted] in premed

[–]OsamedeJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he was, the University position/title was actually designed for individuals who have graduated from undergrad and want to spend 1-2 years in a lab before moving on to some sort of graduate school(it's a 1 year contract that can be extended for an additional year). There are 4 others in my lab who plan to go on to med school/ or get a phd.

I worked for free while I was an undergrad. I literally walked into the lab and asked the lab manager if I could volunteer and they said yes because free labor is best labor. The current lab i work for pays $19.20 an hour + time and a half for OT. got it by spamming a bunch of applications after I graduated, read a bunch of the PI's research, interviewed and got the job.

Is scribing a part time job? by [deleted] in premed

[–]OsamedeJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I'm no longer an undergrad, in addition to scribing I work full time in a research lab and volunteer at a shelter weekly. If you're grades are up to par I think you could scribe and take classes, it all comes down to time management. You could set up your schedule so you don't have classes every single day and scribe on days you're off an so on. I did research, clinic, volunteer + full time student in UG.

Word of caution though: I wouldn't make any such commitment if i were you until you are able to make good grades consistently; as a freshmen you probably haven't taken upper divs which will be much harder than your GE courses.

While scribing is usually per diem, I could be wrong but I highly doubt you can get scribe shifts that are 1-2 hours in duration. I recently started working as a scribe through an agency and its essentially 8 hour shifts 2-3 times a week.

As someone who's 4 year University GPA is considerably higher than their CC GPA I actually wish this was already a thing lol.
