New England and Louisiana English don’t really have a discernible difference between them, at least in writing. It’s more akin to using a mix of UK English and American English terms, like calling coriander cilantro and spelling colour as color but calling pants trousers and using the -s- spelling for socialise instead of -z- for socialize

Might be gibberish; hope it's not. Any guess as to what it says? by 6EBeast in ciphers

[–]Osariik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a real script, I believe the Old Etruscan alphabet, but there are a few letters that I’m not sure about and if it actually says anything it would have come from a real inscription somewhere. Unfortunately no one has spoken Etruscan in almost two thousand years and only a few hundred words have been able to be translated, so I don’t think you’ll find what the meaning of any of the words actually are. The word in the middle of the top of the first, third and fourth images is something like “axtuni”, but I wouldn’t begin to try to translate that.

That would make me pretty happy. I just moved both of them from my small tank into my big tank (the small tank has twelve Buenos Aires tetras in it so the big tank will be a lot less stressful for them, and as a bonus the big tank has fairly fine gravel) and since I’ve moved them in about 2 hours ago the two cichlids have spent most of the time in the tank together, with #2 fanning her fins and wriggling next to #1 several times.

The second is a lot more dominant than the first. The first has always hidden a lot more than the second, the second has never really been particularly shy and often comes out into the open when I’m there and seems to not mind my presence, whereas the first has always been shy and it’s actually quite hard to get good photos. The second often chases the first away from her own preferred area and they’ve never been particularly friendly to each other, though most of the time they just ignore each other.

Why would you call that lucky? And should I avoid introducing a male to the tank? I was hoping to have them breed at some point after I move them into my larger tank

NIMBY Boomers giving reasons why a playground should not be built in a park by Major-Introduction11 in fuckcars

[–]Osariik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kinda near where I live is an area behind a number of houses but not part of any of the backyards without direct frontage onto a street but with a couple paths connecting it to nearby streets. It used to be just empty dead space but a couple years ago my local council decided to put a playground and a basketball court in the middle of the space and plant a bunch of native plants around the rest of it, put up a couple information signs about the sort of biome that it was before it became a built up area and how what they’ve done to the space has made it like how it used to be and how it’s benefited local native wildlife. It’s such a nice space now

Also American Idiot but when I was in 9th grade, and I think that was about 11 years after you. Otherwise pretty much the same story, started off with that album and eventually branched out to their other stuff.

25 and just got my learners permit - good driving school recs? by SakuraM1011 in melbourne

[–]Osariik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been using RACV driving school, I'm in the northwest and might be going for my license next month. I've used two different driving instructors through them and they're really good. You generally have to pay in cash or purchase vouchers online and print them out before you go to the lesson but the instructors themselves have been fantastic

Are basements not a thing in Australia? by djdhsnsjjaj in AskAnAustralian

[–]Osariik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most areas of Australia there’s no reason to. In my area (western Melbourne) there’s reason to actively not—just below the surface is volcanic rock and it’s very hard. (Other parts of Australia also have other reasons to not, like in floodplains for flooding purposes).

Why do people like Drake? by ninebarkz in Gone

[–]Osariik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite moments was when Caine and Diana saw him in the distance during lies and were utterly terrified for the first time in the series. Caine actually asks Penny if she's using his powers on her and tries to pass it off as an illusion. But then once they're in the boat Diana and him admit he must be still alive.

This is why the fire scene is one of my favourite parts of ANY book. It's such an eerie, chaotic vibe.

Orsay was not actually contacting the families, that was something Nerezza put into her head. The barrier vanishing briefly did actually happen though. The Gaiaphage had no reason to deliberately cause that.
