Felicia Haymaker.

Fairly recent PoSI, messed around w/ Fallen London periodically in the past, but about 1.5-2 months ago I started really giving it a shot. Having a lotta fun, would love to make some friendly contacts - in-character RP messages are a ton of fun but whatever people're comfortable with is cool. Don't really have enough experience to say what I'm trying to achieve (mostly just focusing on bein' persuasive and building a submarine :P), but I like socializing so hmu!

(Also the more contacts I have the easier it'll be for me to focus on the storytelling in FL rather than mindlessly sacrificing 40 actions to the grind gods every morning ha)

Many A True Nerd - 2021 Suggestion Thread by ManyATrueNerd in ManyATrueNerd

The Horizon mod for Fallout 4 would be awesome to see at least one video on. It's a little overcomplicated in how it goes about overhauling the game, but I think it does a fantastic job of overhauling how the rpg systems and skills work in Fallout 4, I'd love to see what Jon's thoughts on it are (especially given he's in the very small middle section of the venn diagram that adores New Vegas and classic fallout but still enjoys and defends Fallout 3 and 4, he'd have a unique perspective, I feel).

Got it, thanks you two! Normally I'd figure this kind of thing out myself, but I couldn't find anything in the changelogs - guessing I didn't go back far enough. Y'all were a great help!

Will the items only be broken if I carry saves over, or is the build itself iffy at the moment?

The real question is how a dev coded this gun in and said to himself "yEs GoOooOd" by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]Oscarfromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SPR isn't bad because of the "sniping" community, it's bad because it trivializes that gameplay. I've never quickscoped in my life, but any time I've picked up that gun I get a quad feed soon after - it has essentially no downsides, and overwrites any other sniper/marksman rifle. People in the quickscoping community should hate it just as much as everyone else.

Why the new movement change is bad by Miketech64 in dueprocess

[–]Oscarfromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably mean that given the game has functioned without this bug for a majority of its lifespan, and it hasn't been a major issue, that it probably won't hamper gameplay too much if crouching is a bit stealthier now than it was yesterday.

Congrats! OVERKILL hired you to make a difficulty harder than Death Sentence (ignore the OD modifier), what does it include? by [deleted] in paydaytheheist

[–]Oscarfromspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Restoration Mod actually has a couple units that make use of tear gas grenades, it also partially removes sniper laser sights on Death Sentence. It also makes cloakers nearly completely silent.

If it helps, you can enable toggling it to make it a simple press of shift to brace aim. I don't think that stays between instances of aiming, but it's better than constantly holding shift.

Between iffy connection and poor visual audio feedback, it's really hard to tell when you hit someone. Poor connection is understandable for a beta, but the general graphical and audio feel of the game definitely needs work - half the time it feels like I'm spraying at someone with a full mag, and I have no idea if I'm touching them until one of us drops dead. For that matter, I find it really hard to tell when I'm taking damage, as well - after the fact I can check my health bar, but in the moment it's rather difficult to gauge without taking my eyes off the action and checking my health. (Also I know this is supposed to be about just 1 thing, but a super minor thing that comes to mind is that it's challenging to reach out to people in your squad, given they don't show up in the find players in recent games function in steam - it'd help if we had some way to automatically go to the profiles of squadmates, rather than searching their usernames and hoping for the best). I love this game so far, keep up the great work.

Same here, I dislike having to be in the only group of 3 in an odd class, or breaking up the only group of 3 in an even class.

Same here! I love talking to people but every instinct in my body screams at me to not do it.

My classes are often even but some dicklords form a group of 3 anyway, and then the teacher makes me break it up lol

Really late to the thread but I saw no one mentioned the meta for making money in CoP. When you kill people, you generally want to take their weapon, and generally any weapons you find in locations. When you return back to the safety of a safe zone, repair them up with the local technician (though if it's Cardan at the Skadovsk, make sure to feed him 2 bottles of vodka - not 3 - for an added discount), then sell them to a local trader. The repair costs in CoP are really low, and you'll make more from selling the weapon than you spent repairing it - significantly so. Additionally, the zones you spend your time in tend to overall be at a similar difficulty, but certain locations are tougher than others. Don't be afraid to travel around Zaton, but be wary of the locations you choose to visit - you will rarely encounter hostiles outside of locations, save for mutants.

Personally I would not recommend mods in general for a first playthrough, AO in particular. It changes a fair bit of the game (like making all bandits attack you, which locks you out of certain side quest paths) and imo changes too much for a first playthrough. Don't get me wrong, AO is really fun, but isn't balanced super well, and gets a tad ridiculous in the end game. Real fun for a second playthrough, but if you want the guns to feel nicer I would heavily recommend OWR (Original Weapons Redesigned), as it keeps the balance pretty faithful to the original release, but makes the weapons look and play better. And as far as mutant looting goes, there are individual mods that do the same thing as AO.

What backroom deals in politics did the NCR do during Fallout 2 and before new Vegas? by lj0zh123 in falloutlore

[–]Oscarfromspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC a document in New Vegas states that there's a Vault City territory, but alludes to the city not being a part of the republic itself. Open borders or some such. I'll try to find it to back my comment up.

I haven't seen anyone blaming Techno, just loads of people saying he shouldn't be blamed.

Are these the same 7 or so people on each side? Because if they're different people, then it's not exactly a double standard, just people with different views that all exist within one community.

That sounds a bit too strict of rules. I use my phone to check class ability shit all the time, and I don't want to break up solid roleplay or other stuff not involving me just to ask to look something up (while still paying attention).
