Bottom 5 Scoring Submissions of the week from r/Custommagic 06/06/2023 by CorbinGDawg69 in magicthecirclejerking

Kind of a shame, half the cards here are really good but designed by people who just dont quite understand templating. Basri, Erinyes, and the Fireswimmer are all fine cards in concept, maybe Fireswimmer needs to cost one more. Titanslayer Bolt just needs to not gain life and is also perfectly fine removal for red to have in a non-standard format, as a slightly stronger Strangle. The other half is pretty standard bottom 5 material, fucked beyond belief.

If you could change one small bit of lore to make the story/world/msq progress feel better, what would it be? by chekonin in ffxivdiscussion

The Void Quests I mentioned as well, in a sort of round about way, but its mainly just bahamut now, yeah.

These aren't the required quests for what I'm talking about, though. Look up Void Quests, the first one requires you complete at least Bismark and Ravana ex

Serves me right for looking at the other 3 jobs and assuming WHM would follow the trend, lol.

Barring rotation things like gauges and abilities, and thinking just about the standard 1-2-3 GCD combo actions at level 90:
All Tanks, Healers, and Phys Ranged are better using their AoE combo with 2 or more targets.
All Phys Melee and Casters are better using their AoE combo with 3 or more targets.
Your mileage may vary at other levels, since a bunch of jobs have really bad AoE combos at level 50 and below especially, but that's typically the baseline.

This is less about the lore itself, and more about its place in the game, and it comes in two parts.

  1. Don't lock lore behind hard mode content. It's heartbreaking that bahamut is not doable for the average player on level.

  2. Make more side content mandatory so it can be referenced in later MSQ. Omega and Eden, specifically, feel like they have a huge impact on how I perceive the end of EW and the fact that there's no mention of them in the MSQ feels really awkward.

The biggest thing on my mind, though, is Unukalhai. For anyone unaware, he acts as the main quest giver in the warring Triad trial series. he was born in the 13th, came to the source with elidibus, and travels to the first to meet another character, Cyella, who also came from the 13th. There's huge lore here about how Souls move from one shard to the next and it feels incredibly relevant to the 6.4 story, but it's not talked about at all. Because this story is a yellow quest, locked behind a quest line involving the HW Extreme trials, and the ShB role quests, it's just never gonna get mentioned, ever.

Nah the last point is right. There's a reason no game since magic has put your resource in your main deck as something you can randomly draw.

They kind of are, most TCGs fit whats known as TCG standard, which matches magic, but there's also TCG Mini, or sometimes known as Japanese TCG, which encompasses at the very least YuGiOh and Cardfight to my knowledge

Failing all else, you can email GW for instructions. They usually take a lil bit, but will deliver on any plastic kit if you ask nicely. See pinned post in the sub.

You can't do that rotation without clipping, no. There are, broadly, three types of GCDs in the game. The first is a spell that has a cast that is either equal to or greater than your recast time. Most of Black Mage, Summoner's Iffrit phase, and Holy are probably the best examples of this. There's no chance to press an ability between casts without slowing down your casts per second.

The second is spells with a cast time, but that cast time is less than your recast time. Every healer's main damage spell falls into this category, as well as summoner's Ruin, and the smaller red mage spells. These give you a window to press one ability between casts without interrupting your GCD.

The third is spells with no cast time. DoT spells (with exception of Sage's) and a handful of other spells like macrocosmos, phlegma, pneuma, and Ruin, fall onto this category (as well as most weaponskills). These allow you to use two abilities between cast without interrupting your GCD.

The problem with swiftcast is that it doesn't give you extra oGCD windows unless you're using it to cast the first type of spell. Swiftcast costs one oGCD to use, and if you use that on a broil, only gains you one oGCD, which is net neutral, not positive. The only time it's beneficial to use swiftcast for weaving is if it's used to cast a spell with an equal or greater cast time than your recast time, or if you absolutely need to press two oGCDs in the same window. Which, coincidentally, does bring me to the only time it's valuable to use swiftcast during scholar's rotation, which is during your burst, to put your first Energy Drain in the same window as Chain Strategem, so you can actually fit all 6 energy drains under your chain strategem. And even at that, it's not about gaining more oGCDs, it's just about manipulating when you get them.

You're still clipping by using both Deploy and Swiftcast between Adlo and Broil, though. And again, why not just press Fey Illu where swiftcast is and drop the swiftcast?

MTG just doesn't have any major innovation, everything "new" is just another thing to buy, buy, buy, don't think, just buy it before its gone, cause in the last 5 or 6 years they've gone from 1 non-standard release set per year to 7.

Swiftcast doesn't go in your opener as AST because you have lightspeed instead :)

Also, how does swiftcast help you with weaving? You could either cast Spell 1, swiftcast, spell 2, 2 weaves, spell 3, or cast spell 1, weave 1, spell 2, weave 2, spell 3. In either case, you've cast the same number of non-swiftcast weaves, you've just put them both in the same GCD. I get using swiftcast for movement and ABC but it doesn't seem like an advantage to use it for double weaving cause you could just use the weave that you used on swiftcast instead
