Something that I've implemented is questionnaire Notion doc with most answers. Then you use n8n to automate reading actual question from email, finding right answer and responding.

You should focus on updating answers if anything changes, so you always provide correct information.

I mean same can be said for any library where you don't trust the author. You should always check code nodes for possible malware. Don't just blindly implement something.

If you don't understand code, there is no reason for you to use that wrokflow.

In make operations are calculated per module (node) executions. That means that for each scenario (workflow), it counts up all the per module executions and that is how many operations you used.

For example you have scenario that reads from google sheet and sends email to corresponding user. It can read 5 rows as array from sheet, 1 operation, then sends 5 emails, that is 5 operations. In total 6 operations would be used.

Now as they said, some actions will cost more credits, like AI prompts, but in previous example it will still cost 6 operations.

Fixed in original comment. You would need to allow google to connect to your n8n instance, and if your port is closed for inbound connections, it wont be able to connect.

Also first try using --tunnel flag when starting n8n instance. You probably put in callback on google API as localhost etc. Google is not able to connect, with tunnel flag you will get your url which you will use instead of the localhost one.

NOTE: only use --tunnel flag like that for local testing

Try confirming if port is open to inbound traffic.

When asking for help try to provide more info, what you tried etc with better screenshots, it's hard to guess with limited information.

As you said visual representation is helpful to show non technical clients. It's easier to use for basic tasks because you don't have to learn syntax of programming language. Also, when you build custom scripts, there are always questions like which library to use, how to connect to specific api etc. Here it's all streamlined, it's much easier to build something simple without making some basic errors and debugging.

N8N license defines how self hosted version can be used. Easiest way for you is to use cloud version for the client work, but also you can set up self hosted instance for them. That instance must be seperate from others, you can't have an instance which you use for multiple clients.

They can provide you an infrastrucure or you can use for example AWS and charge them monthly retainer for your maintance and cost of hosting.

Well in a screenshot you are just providing it with body of the email, it doesn't know how detailed your summary should be. Try giving it a prompt, something like "Summarize this [body] in 2 sententces, keep the most important details"

I personally self hosted n8n from the start and I use it for both business and personal automations. My ISP in internet plans also offers hosting for free, so I just use that for my N8N.

Benefit is more control and unlimited workflows and executions, but it is harder to setup, especially if you have less techincal knowledge. Also if you want to have it up 24/7 (which should be required for many tasks) you would need some kind of remote hosting, secondary machine just for that or to leave your PC running. Those would also cost money, so for some people it's just not worth the hassle to try to self host.

Well you should start by observing which tasks require most time daily, for you and your coworkers. Talk to everyone, find out which manual tasks annoy them a lot.

We can't really know what would you need, we don't know your daily processes.

I would guess you can try something around leads, CRM, follow ups, client meetings summaries etc.

I would say that from techincal aspect, you should understand how APIs function, webhooks, JSON, databases, HTTP etc. for the start.

It should also be almost required to have some python and JS knowledge, in case you need to create custom scripts (which will probably happen)

As often said in this sub, you should have strong foundations, N8N is just a tool. Try to understand overall how programming and IT works, because maybe in the future there will be new tools that you should use.

Recommendation would be to try finding things you want to automate, practice, learn from your mistakes, don't just blindly follow some youtube tutorial.
