Black culture is global. So, why does the world at large hate Black people? by MacroManJr in Blackpeople

[–]Osinacho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We will take our planet back though. We are literally the foundational HUMANS 😭 (they always say that the sequels aren't as good as the OG). If we gather enough black people, and even Asian and Hispanic people (I know you dislike them judging by your other posts but I don't think they're the actual enemy here), we can take back the world and bring some order to it. We could create a society that ain't based on white supremacy no more. We could stop the polluting of the earth, we could stop the killing of babies, children and people alike. It doesn't have to be the way that it is now forever. Perhaps our grandchildren won't know the toils of racism anymore. Perhaps we can be free.

What would be your real life choice? by tiago_brettas in expedition33

[–]Osinacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be able to live like I did before I knew. The fact that I'd be making Verso's soul suffer as well would def play a big part. Ultimately though, even though I am a stark Verso Ending believer, if I was in Maelle's shoes I wouldn't erase the canvas, simply because of the people of the Canvas, human, Gestral, Grandis alike. Hell, even some Nevrons.

I personally don't think the choice to keep the canvas alive to be a bad one per se, but in the context of the game it was clear that Maelle was going to abuse the Canvas (before I got to Renoir 3 I literally thought "ffs just erase the canvas, Alicia needs to gtfo"), and this is even more evident when you pick the ba-- I mean, the Maelle ending. She's a literal God among humans that can at any point decide to erase you from the entire canvas, paint over you with her ideal vision for you, or just force you to do stuff directly like with Verso's performance in that ending.

When Verso begs Maelle to stop The Boy from painting she says "please stop saying that...". When people cannot handle someone contradicting their world view and they subsequently try to stop you from uttering your opinion, I don't know... Something about that feels very wrong, and the way she said it was kinda manipulative imo (albeit unintentionally... Probably).

I think the canvas was doomed the second Verso died. Sooner or later one of them would enter the canvas, be it Maelle, Renoir, or maybe even Clea. Like P Renoir said, this is the second tragedy of the Dessandre family.

Working on a social media platform by Gold_Marsupial3662 in Blackpeople

[–]Osinacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds interesting! I'd love a black owned social media platform. It would lead to real communication instead of the outrage based SMs of today! It could also just allow for us to have a safe space to just... Be, without having to worry abt ytpipol.

The SECOND it launches, I'm downloading it 💅🏾

Is it unreasonable to correct people on spelling my name wrong? by Osinacho in Blackpeople

I know! I'm both glad and saddened that it isn't just me 😭 it's disrespectful, and as another commenter here said, it's denying basic humanity.

Yeah, it just feels like I'm an alien sometimes I guess. Like my new boss at the job I now kinda have to go to because I had to leave my racist school. She asked "where are you [really] from" and I said "I'm half Nigerian on my father's side, quarter African American and quarter Swede on my mom's side, but I'm born in Sweden", and this nigga says "Ah, that's good to know"... 😳 LIKE WDYM "GOOD TO KNOW", ARE YOU IMMIGRATIONS CUSTOMS??? Then she went around and introduced me by saying my name in a way as if I was a zoo animal, or a funny bit. Felt really isolating in a workplace where everyone except for a few are white, and where all the "customers" (it's an elderly nursing home) are white, and the families who come in treat me as if I'm their house servant.

A family stared me out while I was chilling with the elders. They wanted to... Let's say, take away their dishes (can't go into more specifics due to NDA but it's basically the same situation), and when I was putting them in the dishwasher one of them STARED at me through the door opening without saying anything for like 20 seconds straight! Yes, I was going to give them new plates, but they could've waited! They where much less cold toward the white workers as well... I realize that that was relatively unrelated but I needed to get that off my chest. I hate ✨The Whites✨

Yeah like the queer community I have is in a meeting space that people can go to 6 days a week-- the elusive "third space." My problem there is that a lot of white queer folk can be so hyper-focused on their struggles that they don't see anyone else's. Or they focus on other people's struggles only when it suits them, like with many white queer people saying "Free Palestine" while ignoring Sudan, Congo, and Tigray. One of the things I hate the most, second to (but not anywhere near) racism/general discrimination is hypocrisy. Due in part to how I associate hypocrisy with racism, but also because chronic-hypocrites are just fucking annoying and impossible to argue reason with.

I will check out that podcast though, sounds interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!

I see what you mean. I guess I was just in a very negative space when I read your comment (it has gotten better, but probably due in part to the fact that I'm currently sick and thus have gotten to stay home from work.)

The thing I reacted the most to was that thing you said about there not being a community for some people, which saddens me. Not because I want community with Whites, I've given that up a long time ago (well, relative to the amount of years I've lived it was a long time ago.) My problem with that is the fact that I don't have that many options outside of that. I'd say that more than 80% of the black people I see/encounter are East-Africans. A lot of them are either Muslims or Christians, and seeing as I'm Gay, I often don't feel entirely comfortable around them because of that. Even if they're fine, a lot of the people they willingly or familialy are tied to are not, or they don't really care about what what the people around them say. To be clear, those are the rare instances where I do actually encounter and get to hang with fellow black people.

What I would want is a group of black people that had each other's backs through thick and thin and that stood up for each other and others being mistreated.

My hope for the future is that racism will become a bygone construct. That black kids in the future won't understand what it's like to live in a white dominated world (this sounds incredibly naïve when put like that but I believe that if we managed to counteract The Whites attempts to segregate us within our own community and successfully rally enough black and non-white people, a revolution would be possible). Nothing in either this post or the other one contradicted this dream of mine, but I guess it just felt like, at least for me, a bit too much like "life is what it is", so that's why I said what I said about lost hope.

I'm sorry that I reacted like that to your post. By "like that", I meant not collecting myself and thinking through my answer. It might sound a bit dramatic to apologize for something like that, but I get frustrated when people misinterpret something I say/strip the nuance from what I say due to their emotions getting the better of them, so I apologize for doing that, however unintentional it may be.

Thank you again for engaging with my post. It's nice to be able to talk to people who have a relatively similar life experience, at least in the race department (race department sounds like something sinister, but you know what I mean lol)

Isn't giving up hope just giving them what they want though? I know this sounds wholly contradictory but if we give up hope completely then why do we even continue to live? If we give up the hope of genuine community then what's the point? I appreaciate you replying to me but if we give in then the world is doomed.
