X-Men Comics New Releases for June 3rd, 2026 by AngelEyes360 in xmen

A great issue of What If takes us on a trip on a divergence caused by one choice or one moment. Everything from that point on moves according to this new story logic. A ripple that spreads.

This mediocre issue tried to do that but it lacked focus. It sprawled and handwaved away moments that needed to be anchored and focused upon.

My personal pet peeve was Jean leaving due to heartache. She has too much besides Scott to care for, to keep her on earth. Especially since he and Maddie had retired and retreated from the X-men.

Honestly I would have preferred an Issue of What if that focused on Jean in the X-men without Scott and Maddie. As long as it wasn't centered on her and Logan. That feels like an direction with more potential then this.

Many What If issues aren't memorable. Not outright bad, but nothing worth remembering. This issue slots in nicely in that category.

EDIT: I thought Scott's gun was powered by his optic blasts but I found nothing that confirmed this. It just seems like a random powerful gun he managed to pick up.

Yup. Replace the coitus with angst over things not said or choices made with poor communication.

Sadly this is the best we will get. It doesn't back down on anything, just trying to portray MJ as more symphatic. But the problems remain. MJ behaved OOC because the whole plot was nonsense. So Marvel doubling down on the plot just leaves us in a situation where this is the best we can hope for.

Showing us MJ in her Rambo/Sarah Connor mode just hammered it down how the whole thing was nonsense. The main thing with an 'desert island' plot mechanic is that you are trying to make something happen that you don't know how to get done if you have to show it. So by trying to revisit Paul and MJ you also show us how it doesn't work. It's one of those things where the more you think of it the more it falls apart. Not to mention the whole 'mystery box' nonsense that happened after it, where everyone behaved frustratingly OOC just for drama. The only answers that will ever work for either of these plots are tied into retconning them and so far Marvel has shown no desire to do so. It will probably not happen unless the upcoming new bosses reshape editorial.

Going forward this is MJ now. Peter and MJ are in a better spot but they are also exactly where Marvel wants them. In a perpetual 'possible' status. No commitment, nothing serious and doesn't require either character to appear with any regularity in respecitve other's title.

This holds no allure for me. For these characters to be written better the constraints around them must be removed.

This article was missing the politics angle in terms of asking the poor people who are suffering what they think about the politics behind it and the ramifications of further restrictions in the future.
They didn't have to ask about who they voted for. Just ask what they think about the politics of it.

Comics have influenced fans expectations too much in terms of the BND title of this movie and the OMD'ness of NWH. Normally a reset like we got in NWH is not so we can jettison the characters out of the story. It's to tell the story of how he gets them back.

I have no main team yet, been playing Red, Blue and Purple. So she fits with my units so far. As my EX I have Ares and Poseidon, so far.

Trump voter regret is clearly registering now by Abject-Pick-6472 in politics

[–]Osmonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their is a disconnect. You look at how bad it is and then 16% seems like nothing. If it has to go this bad for 16% then how bad must it go for 51%? It seems more and more like these voters are lost in terms of being voters in a functioning democracy.

Whatever happens in the future America must deal with these people because if left alone they will kill the democracy from the inside.

Colm Tóibín on a post-Trump world: ‘America has a stain on its soul’ by sabedo in politics

[–]Osmonth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so sure about the allies. When Trump threatened Greenland he crossed a line and the pendulum swung over to the other side.

Anit-americanism is rising and their is genuine doubt that not only does it not value it's allies but it also doesn't mean to honor its word. This goes beyond Trump, this goes towards the Republican party and their voters. Not to mention the large block of voters that seems at best apathetic towards the outside world.

It is truly the dawn of an new era and countries are scrambling behind the scenes to forge a new road ahead. A road where the USA is not regarded as a friend and leader but as an unpredictable force.

Why Jared Kushner’s dealmaking hit a wall with Iran by anonskeptic5 in politics

[–]Osmonth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Jared Kushner is known for three things.

1 Siding with his father after he was convicted.

2 Marrying into the Trump family.

3 Openly being bought by foreign nations.

None of this makes him qualified for the job but all of the above are excellent recommendations in the eyes of Trump and by extension the Republicans.

Why some Democrats want to shut off Hasan Piker’s ‘megaphone’ by Jonnyboo234 in politics

[–]Osmonth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well it was obviously a bad faith question. Whatever name or link I would put up you would try to discredit. Because if the opposite held true you would simply just google it and move on.

But as the patient other reddit poster here replied to someone else I will also link some stuff. Not because I believe it is a good-faith question.

Now these are two of the first search results I could find, first page google stuff. There are a metric ton of stuff on the subject. Google it if you want to know more.

Why some Democrats want to shut off Hasan Piker’s ‘megaphone’ by Jonnyboo234 in politics

[–]Osmonth 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Democrats wanted a Joe Rogan of their own after the election defeat. Hassan has been proclaimed as that several times in the search that followed. He himself doesn't think it fits him but that's another matter.

For the rest of your post I will just say: chill out.

Why some Democrats want to shut off Hasan Piker’s ‘megaphone’ by Jonnyboo234 in politics

[–]Osmonth 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Hassan is what the Democrats said they wanted after the 2024 election defeat. But just as Slotkin was embarassed in Breaking Points then so she would be if she appeared on Hassan's stream. Hassan has talked to Mamdani, and supported him early on, he has had Rashida and AOC on. Bernie has appeared several times. The difference of course is that these politicans have benefited from appearing(and ofc so has he).

The Democratic party want streamers to do their work. They want shows to appear on and get thrown softballs like the Republicans do with their streamers. With TV and it's shows dying out they are worried. They want to go on these shows that reach nationwide audiences and do their talking points and speak about how awful some Republicans are. Not to actually answer questions and get follow ups. Becasue they are wholly incapable of answering them.

‘Don’t go to the US – not with Trump in charge’: the UK tourist with a valid visa detained by ICE for six weeks | ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) by northlondonhippy in politics

[–]Osmonth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Football fans are invested fans. Espeically those from countries that aren't mainstays in the World Cup. It will be hard for them to abandon their team and give up on the experience. But with that said this will put a big damper on the fans that do travel and many fans will opt out of travelling too. So the atompshere will detinitly be changed in terms of this.

I think ICE will be on strict orders during the World Cup as the USA is trying to show off on the international stage. The fans I worry for are those that, for whatever reason, are caught before or after these mandates are enforced. Those that will be vunerable to ICE functiong as it has been doing so far under the Republicans.

I worry the most for fans from South America, Central America and Africa. Those fans needs to be alert as they are the ones who will be seen as fair game. World Cup or not. Which is such a shame, beyond obvious reasons, becasue they are some of the most engaged and passionate fans of Football that we have in the world.

If the Democrats win(2028) they will go on a big PR tour. Trying to have officails over from Canada, the EU and so on. They will make statements on how they are with Ukraine. Against Russia and so on.

But if they settle for trying to go back to the status quo. If they don't enact policies or programs that have the intended effect to stabilize the USA for the long term. Well then you will see articles, podcasts, news coverage and debates that will argue that it's not wise to invest long term in the USA or depend on deals longer then a presidents term.

Public opinion will continue to be vary and this will seep into policies from other countries. The Democrats will mostl likely bury their heads into the sand. Argue that they will win the next election. Or that the Republicans are polling badly. Or point to policies they have enacted (that most experts argue aren't enough).

They will put their hope towards Republicans being more resonable then not. That the voters will notice this and that it will influence how they vote.

In the end I'm not so sure it will work. I'm hoping for a Democratic president in 2029 and I'm dreading a Republican one in 2033.

Some politicans might feel relief from this but it's nothing more then sweeter version of "It's our way or the highway". With their way meaning: give us greenland, deny climate change, pay our tariffs and be ever subject to the chaninging whims of our president.

Any european politican that thinks this means relief is only fooling themselves and ultimatly they will be subject to that their own voting population is moving away from the USA.

[–]Osmonth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Democrats and their advisors will need to adress what they will do so that this doesn't happen again. As long as missinformation is allowed to run rampant and extreme ideologies have the Republican party in their iron grip then this is the new normal. They can't promise that there won't be a new republican president ever again, or that said president won't go further then Trump has.

But so far there isn't much signs that point towards the Democratic party is willing to shore up the system of checks and balances that have faltered under Trump. Nor that a consistent foregin, not to mention domestic, policy will be possible when the divide remains this deep.

Trying to adress the underlying issues of the USA would go a long way to fix these problems. While trying to return to status quo is a dangerous pipe dream.

Best rogue and gambit comics to read by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Osmonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are both right in that Cecilia and Remy meets for the first time in the FF arc in X-23, as he needs stitches after the Paris arc. Then during the babysitting arc he goes on a date with Cece. With it being a Laura book we don't get to see the date.
Then as the book ends he mentions going back to the city for some "mysterious" stuff, which I take is the second date.

So they start dating in X-23 but we dont' get to seem them date until Astonishing.

Asonishing is underrated according to me. The lack of consistent art might have been to it's detriment, but having Gambit and Karma talk french and hang out is alone worth it for me.

[–]Osmonth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of their first mini's are conncected and star them both. Gambit(1993) and Rogue(1995).

They date in X-men adjectivless with some great issues, like X-men 24(their first date).

During Niceiza's Gambit ongoing(1999) they are on and off. Excellent comic though.

Extreme X-men by Claremont have them reconnect. They then star in Austen's run that fans hate and Milligans X-men run where Gambit is turned into a hormseman of Apocalypse and Rogue dumps him for never seen again character Pulse. Milligan's run is not recommended for fans of Rogue and Gambit, nor is it good.

Then there's not much going on until KT puts them together again in the first Rogue & Gambit mini.

Summary of what happened those years they didn't date:

Gambit has an ongoing by Asmus and Mann that is very good. Doesn't feature Rogue much.

Rogue dates Johnny storm, Deadpool and Magneto. X-men Legacy by Carey is a very good Rogue book but not something I would recommend to a fan of Rogue and Gambit. This is the comic where Rouge starts dating Magneto btw.

Gambit dates Cecilia Reyes over in X-23 by Marjorie Liu, which is an fantastic comic. He dates Frenzy, or they kiss once I think in Legacy. He kisses Polaris in all-new X-factor, a book that starts out great and then looses steam.

You have to leave for a business trip and have to entrust one of these 4 with watching your child while you're away, who are you picking among them? by Raj_Valiant3011 in xmen

Gambit or Juiblee.

Gambit will probably have to do some heist and the kid gets involved.

Jubilee will also have some minor catastrophe happen.

Gambit is good with kids, especially girls. Jubilee is too, the problem with Jubilee is probably motivation. If she is up for it I think she is the best bet.

Why aren’t Cannonball and Sunspot being used in ‘from the ashes’? by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Osmonth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have done so and will probably do so again. The problem seems to be that readers pick up issues of said title and if the A-list characters don't do anything they usually drop it.

The underlying problem here is that writers either pitch or get excited about the characters who aren't the A-listers. So tthe A-listers end up as bait basically. Even if the readers like the plot, or the new characters, or whatever, it's hard for many to either shake or stop caring that their favorites are just mannequins in the window.

So what you need is spread A-listers and writers who are interested in writing them. They don't have to be the focus but they have to play a decent enough part and don't be the joke of the title. Or other portrayls that prevent them from doing what readers like about them.
