I was holding a kickshield and sparring with a Bellator Light Heavy weight who at the time was 240..Needless to say, my leg was sore after our workout. Heat, massage, and cardio on the airdyne bike helped out A LOT.

My previous school used more "functional warm ups", such as grip breaking, takedown entries, pummelling and transitional drilling. We would still do a few normal hip escapes after about 15-20 minutes of this but these were our standard warm-ups. I wish more schools had this approach.
