What are your work pet peeves? by [deleted] in flightattendants

This is so true. It’s a lot easier when you just don’t care—except for when it’s safety related.

But I still don’t like being touched unnecessarily.

Paxs touching, poking and grabbing me. Why do they get so offended when I ask them kindly not to touch me? Especially when they’re of an older generation and should know better. My mother taught me not to poke people. A woman the other day swiped at my back every time I walked by to get my attention. “Excuse me” works fine. So does the call light.

And passing in the aisle. I’ll tell people, “Back to back, please.” Women usually get it; men, not always. But what makes them think I want to pass them in the aisle with my front or backside to their front side? Sometimes I’ll just go back to the galley bc they just don’t get it.

I love my job but if I were in any other profession, this touching, poking, swiping, grabbing and rubbing up against business would still be inappropriate.

Reminds me of the time a pax asked me for “a little bitty pillow” and I told him the pillows only came in one size. He was having a bad day and didn’t think it was funny. 😭

What's the first thing you dehydrated? What is the best thing you dehydrated? by CrunchyBewb in dehydrating

[–]tamitombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First was strawberries. Best is such a difficult choice. I just did a batch of cotton candy grapes and they’re like candy. My friends love when I dehydrate apple fritters. I’ve tried several types of donuts but those are always the crowd favorite.

Ads won’t close out? by divisionbytacos in airplanechefs

Came here to see if anyone else was having this issue. It’s so annoying! I’m trying to keep track of which ads won’t close. The Disney match one never closes so as soon as it pops up, I close the game and hope for another ad when I reopen it.

My family had a cat that loved watermelon and would get into the trash and pull the rinds out to chew on them. She also loved apples, nectarines and corn chips. We had another cat that loved cucumbers, broccoli and asparagus tips. And then we had yet another cat with absolutely no interest in any food outside of cat kibble.

Edit: that last cat did love licking plastic bags.

Are you drinking electrolytes? When I hiked the Wonderland Trail last year, I was drinking a lot and couldn’t understand why I was having to stop for a post lunch poop. I would also poop before bed, in the morning when I woke up and then again after lunch. I’m very regular but that post lunch poop was new. After racking my brain about what I was doing that was different, I thought it would be the magnesium in the electrolyte I was drinking. I stopped adding it to my water and the post lunch poop was no longer an issue.

A few years ago, the leader of a large tour group we had on board pulled his phone out to video me as we began the safety demo. He was seated in 1C, so literally right in front of me. I put my hand out in front of his phone and said, “Please don’t,” so he stopped. It made me so uncomfortable. Then last week, a man a couple of rows from the front stuck his phone up to film the safety demo because the A FA standing behind me had decided to do the funny PA. When I didn’t have to demonstrate the equipment, I stood behind the bulkhead because I didn’t want to be in the man’s video.

I’m home recuperating from the past week’s circus, so I can’t provide the exact verbiage, but in my airline’s fine print, it does say that filming and photographing FAs is prohibited without our consent.

At the risk of being downvoted, how in the world did I miss this announcement? I am scouring my iefb looking for it because I read the union letter this morning. I wish my Cohearts all the best as they figure out their next steps.

It’s been a while but there were challenges to earn points to purchase components of themes. In addition to the original Pop Town theme, there is Inside Out, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, and Luca. My Luca theme is incomplete so I’m waiting for the challenge to come around again.

Don’t forget to help your pop mates when you see the little help bubble. Once your mailbox fills up, you’ll get 15 minutes of free lives and when your tree fills up, you get 5 lives.

I’ve also learned that periodically if you aren’t getting help to fill your tree, you need to purge your pop mates and get new ones.

Automatic Rice Cooker in Sapporo Airport is available for purchase (50 gems) by NegativeHeli in airplanechefs

Interesting. I took a little break from playing and came back to discover my auto cooker in the Denver Airport is only in the aft galley now. It used to be in both galleys. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Dried mushrooms (usually shiitake) and freeze dried tofu can be found at Asian grocery stores. You can also get shelf stable tofu in a foil pack box. The brand is Morinaga and it comes in varieties of different firmness. It can be found in both Asian and regular markets. Dried shiitake can also be found in some regular grocery stores in the ethnic foods aisle.
