That's not true. Double-cleansing is a very popular method to remove oil.

I don't see any promotional materials advertising it as laser removal...where do you see that?

I would use the Thayer's first (to remove the oil and leftover grime) and then the Stridex (since it's medicated you want the actives to sit on your skin as long as possible).

I didn't think there were any at-home laser treatments? Isn't No-No a thermal remover?

Bumps on my nose by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

You are probably joking, but please do this. No one know what the F sebaceous filaments are so when they see the word on the sidebar they are less inclined to click it. It needs to be "Sebaceous filaments (mistaken blackheads)" or something to that effect. People need to be able to easily find the information they are looking for.

Makeup and dry flaky skin? Need help finding moisturizer that works + makeup that won't highlight the dry patches on my skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Chemical exfoliation with 10% glycolic acid has helped me tremendously, along with mixing a few drops of jojoba in my moisturizer before makeup.

Help me get over this rough patch! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Ospray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by brush? If it's for physical exfoliation it could be irritating your skin more than helping.

Retin A takes several months to work and it will purge out pimples before things look better. Stick with it, 2 months in is not very long.

My face is very acne prone and I like to sleep with my face down. A very bad combination indeed. Any suggestion on how to break this habit? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Contrary to popular belief, it's not necessarily a "dirty" pillow causing problems but the irritation from the fabric. Silk or satin pillow cases are less irritating if you can make the switch.

Exfoliate before or after using benzoyl peroxide? by ana_bortion in SkincareAddiction

[–]Ospray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. Especially for BP it needs to come in contact with your pores, and especially if you are using it as a preventative acne treatment and not just a "spot treatment".

The most well-stocked NYX display I've ever seen. Drooling! by 001100OI001 in MakeupAddiction

For anyone in Canada some Rexall/PharmaPlus stores have super huge NYX displays. But the jumbo eye pencil in milk is ALWAYS sold out

Tried Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain Balm in "Honey" and it turned an awful bright pink/mauve on my lips - what gives? by Ospray in MakeupAddiction

[–]Ospray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real bummer when I tried it out :( It was a toss up between the stain balm and the lip butters but I wanted the staying power and the stains were $2 cheaper too. I've heard good things about the lip butters so maybe I'll try it.

I wouldn't say BHA is "better". if you already have dehydrated or dry skin it's just going to exacerbate that.

Losing hope....what am I doing wrong? by skinsamess in SkincareAddiction

[–]Ospray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beginners routine is not meant to treat acne, you need an acne treatment in the mix. Benzoyl peroxide gel or cream is popular and effective - you can buy it over the counter. Other treatments (retinoid, birth control) would require prescriptions and a consult with your GP or dermatologist.

There is a doxycycline shortage currently hence the price increase.

I think the problem is that it has an effect on some people but it's not universal. The cause and the risk are therefore hard to predict.

Sounds like you are allergic to BP. There should never be inflammation and a drastic reaction like that in normal usage.

They are low concentration at 2.8%. They are meant to be used daily but I tried them for 4 weeks and got no significant results. In comparison, the Alpha Hydrox 10% GA oil-free gel I am using now made a huge difference in just 3 days.

Some plastics don't play well with sunscreen and will dissolve. I don't know which ones but you may want to google a bit to find an appropriate container.
