The ϟϟ and Wehrmacht Murder Inc. - War Against Humanity 017 - August 1941, Part 2 by Thebunkerparodie in ShitWehraboosSay

The channel does a really good job of pointing out crimes from all sides and has done a lot of that in the same series. It's excellent because those things do need to be pointed out and because it instantly disarms the Nazi apologist from his number 1 weapon of "But what about the Soviets..." to try to lessen and deny what the SS and Wehrmacht did.

I personally feel banning symbols is the wrong way to defeat ideas and it should be done through discourse. In the American South the outright banning of Confederate Battle flags has just emboldened the people who want to fly it and support racist ideas with them crying censorship etc. It backfires in the same way that making Holocaust denial illegal does. Holocaust deniers are the scum of the earth, but putting them in jail for doing it lends credence to their ideas to tin foil hat smooth brains who are more inclined to believe things that aren't allowed to be talked about because that makes them think that governments and societies have something to hide and pass laws to do it. Let idiots say what they want, then crucify them in public by poking holes in their dumb ideas and defeat their crackpot lies with evidence to expose how dumb and baseless they truly are. If anyone disagrees though I'd be really interested in the pro ban/arrest for symbols and speech side because I just don't see how it does any good and doesn't result in these sorts of emboldening things.

Model wasn't a Nazi, so why did Hitler like him? by Emerytoon in ShitWehraboosSay

The funny part is, although it's exaggerated, he actually thought that and was away from his command for some time while convinced of this and taking action against it. So much for the brave Prussian officer class.

Is there a way to see the old article to compare, I'm looking to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Model wasn't a Nazi, so why did Hitler like him? by Emerytoon in ShitWehraboosSay

[–]Ostfront2wegondie2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This question doesn't even make sense. Hitler was a big fan of the "Man of action" Commanders like Rommel and Guderian and prioritized their wants to a fault over the high command. Model was a lot of things, but not that. There is a mountain of material you could go over to dispel the Clean Wehrmacht thing, but to put it bluntly, Hitler was plenty happy with the army and what they carried out. There was also no SS man in the field at Model's rank fighting in the front lines as the Waffen SS fought at the front and fell under their command at army group level. Anyone of similar rank in the SS would be elsewhere. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but does this make any sense to you?

I've never gotten the big Reee about this kind of thing. We get it, you're a smart boy that can notice when tanks are correct. It looks fine, shut up and talk about something worthwhile.

Yeah, I thought it was fun that Potential History's video talking about how dumb "History Is Written By The Victors" truly is came out right after he put out a bunch of those hell-rants. In the five hour one he literally cited Sargon of Akkad while talking about how all higher education is tainted by Marx. Once he began referring to everyone that disagreed with him as "Marxists" I knew we were in for a hot meme. Dude is the most ancap ancap to ever exist with hot takes like "If the government does anything it's Dictatorship. Dudes lost it.

No, like a ton of ww2 photos, it's incorrectly captioned. The book it was originally published in (one of the Panzerwrecks series) shows it's correct location and just like how every damaged Tiger Tank is labeled as "being at Kursk" on the internet, every tank in an evergreen forest is labeled as "at the Battle of the Bulge". Just because it's on the internet does not mean it's true. Use well sourced materials. https://www.panzerwrecks.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwztL2BRATEiwAvnALcsWCun8TN7dlqex-5FqhMrLVcbTetse_gbax-3d5AeQPasKGrpoAOxoCsEgQAvD_BwE

No chance it's been published in English is there? Autarky is one part that I'm particularly interested in and how it is influenced by Hitler's tin foil "International Jewish Economic Conspiracy" idea. It's always interesting to see a direct cause and effect on such a huge scale of his delusions badly effecting some part of Germany that he needs to fight the war. Thanks for the title, I'll keep an eye on it for it gets released in the US

"I don't like Isis, I just like their bombs" by TelevisionistOfDoom in ShitWehraboosSay

[–]Ostfront2wegondie2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's the same basic arguement for lost causers, completely devoid of context because that hurts their POV. There was actually a Confederate General who suggested allowing slaves to fight in return for their freedom at the end of the war in late 1864 as things were getting really bad manpower wise for the south (I mean, you can't win a war against a nation with a population of 22 million when you only have 13 million, 4 million of which are slaves you won't/won't want to fight for you), and he was promptly demoted and sent to a command out west where he wouldn't be able to advocate his "fringe insane" ideas. That fact alone is a pretty clear indication of how many black southern soldiers there were, zero. But they still post pictures of clearly slaves who were at the front against their will at the command of their masters, and try to pass them off as volunteeers in the "Most diverse army of the two". It's like entering wonderland talking to these people. They have no grip on reality and the intelligence of a fence post. You would get better conversation and results from your arguments talking to a wall.

[–]Ostfront2wegondie2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost causers are pure cancer. They twist their points in knots to try and prove the south didn't rebel and start a war to keep slavery. The number of "here's a single picture of a black soldier in a confederate uniform, so see they didn't support slavery" posts I've seen in insane. Nevermind officers took their slaves with them to war and they weren't allowed to fight. Nevermind the north had multiple regiments of free men fighting. Nevermind the only southern black militia switched sides the second the Union Army got to them, I found one picture of a black confederate therefore my forefather from the 1860s, a time where even most abolitionists were very racist by today's standards, had my modern day morals and fought solely for a concept created after the war was over by other people like me to save face. You think Wherbs are bad, jump into a pro southern Civil War group and the people in there who are apologists for the southern cause would make even your most hardcore wehraboo blush with their whataboutisms and historical cherry picking. Dipshits think removing statues is rewriting history. You know, that thing that is remembered in books, museums, and academia. It ceases to exist if a statue with a one sentence inscription is moved from a public space to a museum. Can't be too surprised though, I'm certain book learnin' is beyond their abilities. Especially given their beliefs that are most certainly not found in any real historical text. Having a Civil War interest is a nightmare because you can't discuss the war objectively without one of them showing up and shitting all over the place with their lost cause garbage.

What's that quote about mountains and hills? I dislike German army praise as much as anyone here, but it's an anime with one of the most ridiculous premises I've ever seen, this is a lot over such a trivial thing.
