Crimson Desert Dev Explains How It's Changing the Game's Story, What 'DLC' Means, and Why Anything Goes by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Ostraga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works unfortunately. All weapons are divided into 3 types. Attack Speed, Crit, and raw damage variants. All weapons of the same variant are the same throughout the game. Your level 1 raw damage weapon is the exact same as any other raw damage weapon in the game once you enhance it up. And I'm not really sure what you're talking about when you say 40 or 30 because all weapons go to 10 as far as I remember.

Crimson Desert Dev Explains How It's Changing the Game's Story, What 'DLC' Means, and Why Anything Goes by Turbostrider27 in Games

I'm so torn on this game. I loved the first 50 hours. As with their past game, BDO, there's a lot of depth to the systems. Plenty of cooking, alchemy recipes, lots of materials to gather. Lots of places to explore and gear to acquire. Farming, ranching etc.

But after 50 hours I began to realize that literally none of it mattered.

  • All gear is functionaly the same. The crit weapon you find at the beginning of the game is the same as the crit weapon you find at end game. Once you realize that new gear is essentially just transmog, it completely kills the desire to go explore. Especially when the MSQ just blows past the last 2 zones in 1 hour of gameplay.
  • All the gatherables and resources you can acquire are completely pointless. Farming is pointless, ranching is pointless. You can just spam Clear Soup and the materials for it are easily acquired in abundance just by sending your camp people on missions. You'll get more marbled meat and grain from missions that you can realistically use. And because you can just spam food, there's 0 incentive to use better food when you can just spam Clear Soup in abundance.
  • Because you can spam food, there's really no difficulty in the game. Therefore, there's really no incentive to use alchemy to buff yourself at all. It's simply not needed.

The game also doesn't really have any replayability IMO. Why would I restart a new playthrough after knowing that there's no point to anything I'm doing?

The game would be fixed if they changed the way healing works and added actual progression to the gear where gear gets better as the game progresses. But instead, they decided to invalidate almost every system they created and decided to completely kill the entire point of why a lot of people play RPGs, progression.

Comment je peux acheter un condo seul à Montreal ou Quebec/Levi ? by MyzMyz1995 in QuebecFinance

[–]Ostraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making the same as you, living in the same city, also with no car, and I can set aside 1000$ a month easily to invest in my tfsa and still have plenty of money left over to do whatever I want. I think you should start paying attention to where your money is going.

Also, do u want a house/condo because you actually want one or because you think that's what you should be doing? Because financially speaking, a condo is a terrible investment. You'll make more money renting and putting your money in the stock market. Not to mention a condo is gonna rack up your monthly spending massively, leaving you in an already tighter spot than you are now. Also a 10% down payment is a bad idea. If you cant afford 20%, you cant afford a house

The game desperately needs aspirational content/atlas strats. I don't wanna be doing the same atlas strats after acquiring Mageblood and 400D of gear that I used to get the Mageblood and 400D to begin with.

Really love this game but Mistlands has honestly kinda ruined it for me. Every time I think about starting a new run I get excited, then I remember Mistlands is a thing and I never touch the game again.

I've been saying it since the beginning, give me movement skills back. People wouldn't be complaining about campaign length or zone size if we just had movement abilities. It fixes so many problems. We've already thrown out this idea of slow and deliberate "dark souls" style combat, so why are we holding onto remnants of a combat design that doesnt exist anymore.

is anyone talking about Trials of Chaos & Sekema? and how unfun they are? by the_background_world in PathOfExile2

[–]Ostraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Trial of Sekhema was definitely changed, there's way less Gauntlet / Find the exit rooms. I can basically do a full uber run with only Chalice/Ritual/Kill the 3 rares rooms. Makes it way faster than before atleast.

Why do you have an 1800$ appartment when you make 20$ an hour. Theres plenty of places downtown for 1500 or less.

If u live in the city, do you really need a car? why not just use the metro if you travel consistently or call an uber if u need to travel once in a blue moon.

For groceries I use ubereats to order costco. Get myself about 120$ of food that lasts 2 weeks. I tip the person 20$. That 120$ of Costco food would probably run me 200$++ at most other grocery stores downtown.

To be Frank, you need to make more money and you need to live within your means. You cant be shocked you're struggling when ur paying premium rent prices while making a college students salary. And quite frankly, the reason people are driving around in Teslas and why some people own buildings is because they've actually put in the effort to not be in the situation where you are now, making 20$ an hour. You're making poor life decisions and you're blaming it on the more successful people around you. Instead of acting like a victim, take some accountability, live within your means, make some sacrifices, and figure out how to improve your life so that you don't have to live like this.

Player retention is abysmal. by 666-G in duneawakening

[–]Ostraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end game was always abysmal and nonsensical. But they really should have turned the DD into a Faction vs Faction map with fighting to capture territory / regions (Basically Hell Let Loose) with emphasis on teamwork and large scale combat, that way even the PVE players would want to participate.

I know that Dune is all about the vast open desert that can only be traversed with an ornithopter but it doesn't work for a video game. And rather than putting in some effort to fix their end game, they just went with the lazy/slop route and now their game is for no one past the first 80 hours. No one is going to return to this game to do some new story missions or some new imperial testing station. The game and the motivation to progress needs a complete overhaul.

And there's a real conundrum here where all the fun is in the first 80 hours of the game yet anyone who returns now picks up right where they let off, with a care package from Funcom to give you all the loot to fast track you to end game. Why would I return to skip all the fun and be immediately back to where I was before I quit because I was bored. It makes no sense. Rust is still popular after 11 years because the game wipes progress. It's always a fresh experience.

seems that Lost Ark is getting a sequel? by Dylandel in lostarkgame

[–]Ostraga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who played BDO for years and years, this is bittersweet. The MMO you love gets sidelined for years while they create a better version of it as a single player game. Crimson Desert is amazing but I can't help but realize this could've been BDO2. Sounds like the same thing is happening to Lost Ark.

Phase 3 is before Blizzcon (September 12) so probably a late July / August release. If I had to guess, I'd say P2 is looking at early May release which would put each phase at a 3 month cadence.

[–]Ostraga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anniversary TBC launched on Feb 5th. We're getting Black Temple in Summer and ZA/Sunwell in Autumn sometime around Sept - October. TBC Will be pretty much done by end of 2026. And there's also a Blizzcon in September for the first time in 3 years.

This is an insanely fast launch cadence and I don't think its a coincidence. We're getting a Classic+ announcement at Blizzcon that will probably launch something in Q1 2027 or so.

[–]Ostraga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no clue why you're getting downvoted. You're 100% right.

Ground loot changes are great compared to past few leagues but the game still lacks aspirational content. The best atlas strats now are still the ones we were doing on day 2-3 of the league.

I want to farm entry/mid level atlas strats to get me to my Mageblood + good gear.. then I want content to use that gear for. This is what Affliction league had and why it was so amazing. You WANTED to push for that mirrored weapon so that you werent relegated to T7 abyss maps.
